Gosh, and there I was cutting vertical sides for shear resistance; cleaning out the rubble using a leaf blower; getting rid of the water (lraf blower), drying the hole (warm weather); tar spray on the sides; then load & tamp; seal the edges. Looks like I was wasting my time.
