Brian is a great guy and so generous with his time and knowledge. I’ve enjoyed knowing him.
I agree, great guy!
Brian and his lovely wife make great Fig preserve! I even bought some yard eggs from him! Nice fellla.
They are really good people.
I love how they come there and pig out on your figs just when their ripe! And film themselves doing it!
Great tour. I'm jealous of all those varieties!
Thanks, they have a great orchard. Great people to visit with!

Thank you for listing all of the fig varieties or many of the big varieties that were in this video in the comments. I had a difficult time understanding some of the spoken names of the figs since I’m still reading through online literature to learn the different types.
Forgot we even did that lol
Where is the list of fig trees names. I'm not seeing it. It was hard to hear with background music in the video. Beautiful collection & tour. T.y.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Love to see a spectrum of fig varieties in one place. Great Fig-Land..
Appriciate your dedication for promoting Figs..
More to come!
Beautiful figs! I have fig envy. I knew where he was from as soon as he opened his mouth. He sounds just like my brother.
What does Brian feed his fig trees. I am amazed at his orchard how the trees are so productive.

You should have shown his grafted Black Madeira. That is an impressive tree. Probably the best Black Madeira I’ve ever seen.
You're right, we should have got that. May e next time we can make it a point to show it.
Benjamin I always him where is it located again… It’s so Tall now.
I’m a fig tree grower in NJ! I love to see it in Louisiana. Liked and subscribed 👍🏻
Awesome! Welcome!
Great tour
Thank you for watching
Awesome fig orchard- life goals. We are working on it
I’m working on mine this year also
I love seeing homesteaders that love figs! I am working toward purchasing a homestead and in the waiting time I am collecting fig trees in pots. I have at least 70 and not very many duplicates.
over the years I've had many varieties but if they split they get culled. If it doesn't perform well for me, I get rid of it.
@@FlomatonFamous I do the same.
Where will the homestead be?

Great tour and a new sub.
Thank you and thanks for watching
His orchard is incredible!
It sure is.
I live in North East Georgia and I have some fig trees my Celste is fruiting now and this year its loaded with fruit. Now I'm in competition with the varmints to get some for myself. I will be trying to purchase some of his stock. It is refreshing to see fig trees growing in the ground.
Hello from Poorboys Little Homestead. Came over from Lazy Dog Farm. New Sub. 👍
Awesome! Welcome! Thank you for the sub!
Thanks for sharing! (Toejamken here)
Thanks for watching 😀
I have bought some Smith from CajunB in the past. I didn’t realize he had so many varieties!
I gotta step up my Smith numbers lol
Me too!!!
I want at least one in ground and another in a large pot so I can protect it during the Winter… and replace the in-ground one if it dies.
Wow!
Thanks for watching
Middle June Until Today 990 lbs Of Figs already picked on CajunB Fig Orchard
Wow! Amazing!
What do you do with all those figs that you pick
Awesome seeing all these thriving fig trees!! What is the size of this fig forest?🌿
Awesome! I wish I could take a tasting tour! Living in Florida I know that rain struggle
Where at in Florida?
@@FlomatonFamous I'm in the space coast. Palm Bay area
I’m in central Florida near Leesburg. Any recommendations for fig trees that do better with rain?
Also recommendations for fertilizers?
Love to get some Saint Rita cutting
As for rain... Forks WA gets 14-17 feet of rain a year! There are many areas that get more rain than 60" I am in SW WA and we get 56" of rain and 4" of snow. An 30 minute drive west and they get 74" of rain, another 30 miles past that and it is over 80" of rain. It is too much to get good figs and it is too cool.
I just started I have two small trees in pots I live in Florida in an HoA n don't have much room but I have got bananas oranges lemons pineapple blueberries but I am very interested in figs they a very good fruits to enjoy.I have a spot in the back I think I can put 4 trees so looking for the best ones to grow. That place is beautiful thank you for sharing your beautiful fig trees.
That is awesome!
Excited He Let me do my first air-Layer tonight…
Hi Mrs Linda Travis key mentioned you in his Lazy Dog Farm channel!
@@cynthiaedwards5149 I was telling Travis on his Lazy Dog farm FB page we would watch the video and he said might get shouted out on the video
Nice video. Is there any fig earlier than Celeste? I have heard of Early Celeste, but never saw it. You should do a follow up in a few weeks when other varieties are ripening. BTW, LSU Purple just needs to be dead ripe to eat it. Beer's Black/Negronne is like that somewhat, too.
Well, Brian is about 4 1/2 hrs away. Its a bit of a drive for a follow up. lol. I'm not sure what is earlier than early Celeste. Someone in one of the fig forums like OurFigs.com may be able to answer that question.
Celeste is the earliest one
I love White Marseilles. It is also called Blanche. Some people call another fig White Marseilles that isn't. The one in the video is Blanche/White Marseilles.
yep, it's known by many names. I really like it.
@@FlomatonFamous Maybe so. The point that I was trying to make is that there is another fig out there being called White Marseilles that is an imposter. White Marseilles is the one that Condit called Blanche.
@@richardharrison4804 ahh, ok gotcha. You're right.
Shout Out Last night On Lazy Dog Farm and Shout Out Tonight On Row By Row ! That’s crazy
Rocking it!
Which episode? I would like to listen.
Great video. His orchard is beautiful. Does he have a RUclips channel or is he on facebook? I would love to buy cuttings from him. 😊
I've been trying to start a LSU fig tree collection but everyone in the NW LA area is out & anything they have is going to be gold & purple only. I come down to BR often so I called around down there & it's the same story with the same 2 varieties. I'd like to ask if he could help me.
This spring I rooted a sucker from a brown turkey (I think) on my family's land I enjoyed as kid that was supposed to be "old" when my grandparents bought the place in 1953. So I've got the fig fever now 😄
From Nw LA too still looking for our fig trees too.
For me it started with my grandparents tree, you can contact Brian, his email is in the video description. I believe he has all the LSU varieties
@@FlomatonFamous mine too I remember my grandparents having fog trees on their property. Sure does bring back memories.i loved my grandmother's fig preserves! My father in law planted one for me on his property, but we had to relocate it . Now I can't even get to it. So I'm on the hunt for my own. Loved the video!
@@cynthiaedwards5149 now that you mention it, I may go to my grandparents old home and do a video of the tree. Its probably 70 years old and the largest tree I've ever seen. Stay tuned 😉
@@cynthiaedwards5149 one of the nurseries I talked to up here said besides demand, one of the reasons all the nurseries are out here is because the Feb '21 snow-mageddon wiped out everyone's fig stock.
Following Lazy Dog Farm over here.
Awesome! Thank you and welcome!
Same here! NW LA!
Same here West Central Alabama

Between Smith, Italian 258, St Rita, and LSU St. Gabriel Blk, how would you rank them in order, starting from the best?
Actually, I would rank them in the order you already have them in lol. Good job !
@@FlomatonFamous lol 👍
What is your soil type and how far apart ? Zone? In Texas West of Houston
He may not respond, his soil is dark rich clay, and his trees are about 8' apart
200 + trees!?!
I have a fig tree that is about 20 yrs old. Don’t know what kind. About 4-5 yes ago it quit producing. But 1 fig in the past 4 yrs. Do u have any idea what’s wrong?
It could be a few things. Sunlight, water, and fertilizer are the starting points. A balanced fertilizer, regular watering, and at least 6 hours of sunlight are some key things to consider. Where are you located?
I live in booneville AR. About 40 miles east of OK. The fig is more like a bush then a tree. It has never developed a main truck. My deceased husband planted it & took care of it. It had plenty of figs. But after he died it quit producing??? I know he always cut back the dead branches on it every yr. So I cut back the dead branches this year thinking that might help. But I still don’t have any figs.
@@gailpetchenik3048 Sorry about your husband, You may want to try fertilizing it in the spring at the first sign of new growth.
What is the best fertilizer for it? Do the spikes work?
@@gailpetchenik3048 I use a few cups of 13-13-13. Stay at least a foot away from the trunk and spread the fertilizer all the way out to the edge of the leaves.
How far apart do you plant your figs?
Brian planted them 15ft apart. Thank you watching and asking..
15-16 ft apart with 20 ft between rows, is optimal, they really bush out.
I so enjoyed this video. Somebody gave me a fig that is a big green/yellow fig they did not know the name of it but the leaves were not like any leaf I have ever felt before it felt like sandpaper and it’s kind of reddish honey on the inside does anybody know what that might be? It’s a very very prolific Fig that does well here in northwest Florida it’s a later harvest fig. Aug/ Sept.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I would have to see a picture of the fruit and the leaf to be able to identify it.
@@FlomatonFamous how would I get that to you?
@@donnastormer9652 FlomatonFamous @gmail.com
Does you land ever stay wet? In Texas
CajunB is located in Louisiana just west of New Orleans, it can be very wet during the rainy season but it gets dry also.
What is the one at 11:42? I have rerun the video several times, but missed the name!
It's LSU St. Gabriel Black.
@@FlomatonFamous Thanks!
I'd like to get some clippings from him.
Email him
Problem with these Fig tours, is you can't just go and buy alot of these varieties online or in the store. Not even Figbid, etc have cuttings of these. So, what's the point of even knowing about them.
Some are rare. It’s a collection. Enjoy
what date was this video taken?
About middle July 2021
They look more like pears.
Yep, good looking figs
Did he mean Italian 258?
YES, I-258
