I had the 602S3, which I never should have sold, but they were too big and bassy for my small room. The 602s were the only 600 series bookshelf that didn't have the suckout in the midrange that makes them sound thin and distant. The smaller 600 and 601 had it, and the more recent ones, the 685s, and the current 606 and 607 all have it. The newer ones all have an even hotter tweeter, that makes them sound not only thin but shrill as well. The older 600 series 1, 2, and 3, already had a hot tweeter, but each succeeding 600 series has gotten more and more like that, to the point that the current ones are unlistenable
Had 602’s back in 1999, and sold them after a few years. Just got another pair for $150 for h/t, but tried a Yaqin mc13s tube integrated and was amazed. They really like the el34 tubes, great soundstage and bass. Love great sound on the cheap.
I bought mine from a guy that was using a Rotel amp. He was told that those were best. Myself , i am using a Sansui CA-3000 Preamp , along with a Sansui BA-5000 Power amp rated ay 300 Watts per channel. Is it overkill for such a small speaker , without a doubt , but people are blown away at the sound i get from those speakers. What you get from a speaker is directly related to what you put into it. Every amp will sound differently on any given speaker. If you can , take you speakers with you for a sound test , that way you will hear the differences in amps , and ultimately , find what sounds best to you.
Good day Jason Lee. Based on my experience having these two lovely speakers there are some songs or genre that B&W sounds better than Paradigm like for example, i would prefer B&W when listening to Jazz. But then there are some music that the paradigm sounds better than the B&W. Having both pair is great. Thank you for the comment and please do share my videos. Happy listening😀
@@z1audio442 i have paradigm monitor 7. Tower speaker. And B&W 601. Both sound better. My analyses. While listening to violin instruments B&W sounds better. Tweeter quality is so good.
@@z1audio442 I have a pair of 602 S2 & a pair of JBL XTi40 (made in Danmark). Just like you, I can't choose one. I listen to classical music & I'm a pianist. In some orchestral works & some piano solos, I prefer JBL (with its great sound & in some other CDs I like B&W. I think I must keep both of them. ❤️❤️
Love my 602s! Got them in 1999.
Very nice. I have the 602 S3's hooked up to my Sansui G7000. The quality is enough to make a grown man weep.

Rotel, Cambridge Audio azur series & NAD are good mach to B&W 602 specifically S2 series.
If you test them, you would love the sound.
Which sounds better, this B&W DM602 S2 or Paradigm Studio 40 V4?
