After producing 18 projects for the Cathedrals I'm convinced there never was, is not now and will never be another quartet as great as these guys. Every minute I spent with them was heartwarming and inspiring. They will always have a place in my heart and I cherish every moment we shared together. Lari Goss
+Larry Goss This particular 4some is my favorite Cathedral line-up, and although I've known Gerald since his Dumplin Valley days, I'd give those guys & Roger the nod as the best. For you to call the Catherdrals the best is good enough for me.
Larry Goss I agree with you 100% and I have not ever been blessed with seeing them live. Just hearing the volume of incredible music they made, with people such as yourself, has st the bar very high. Thank you sir for your contributions to all of Southern Gospel music!
I am so glad that neither George or Glen got bitten by the "I'm going solo" bug. They were the anchor and base for all the awesome voices who joined them! Can't wait to hear them in Heaven!
This song in my humble opinion is the best song Diane Wilkerson has wrote so far and what an honor for the Greatest Lead Singer ever to walk in shoe leather to sing it. Glen IS the Best!!! Thanks for posting.
The top all time best Southern Gospel song ever recorded by the outstanding Cathedrals! Praise His Holy Name, Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and rose from the grave, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice, Liz
If you take away the powerful ending with Danny "sky-ing" then this is still one of the best renditions of this song ever. BUT when you add the ending with Danny then you have an absolutely powerful song sung by one of the best singers to ever live and ended by the best tenor to ever sing. It is truly amazing!
This is my all-time favorite song. Period. When I hear it, I have to stop what I'm doing and just praise the Lord along with it. No matter what your favorite music style is, no matter how religious you are, I can't imagine anyone hearing this song and not being completely moved by this song.
Glory to God! Praise His Holy name! My Lord how could anyone not be thrilled by this? Wonderful singing, wonderful song.... all to the Glory of God.... Amen
Danny is one of the few true tenors in that he never resorts to falsetto. It's all full voice. That puts him in a class with Phelps, Parrack (not counting the screamer notes), Frank Seamans
I first heard the Cathedrals when I was in high school. They immediately became my favorite group, and I sang to their songs all the time. When I say all the time, my step-mom could attest, I mean all the time. I have never stopped listening to them. I enlisted in the Army a few years later and was sent to Germany. Being overseas in the early to late 90's it was a little hard to come by Christian music. So I vowed to go see all of my favorite groups, which now included Point of Grace, when I got home. I was watching a Gaither program one evening and they had Glen and George on. I was so happy and my now wife of 6yrs was happy for me. Then after the song, there was writing that showed they had both passed away. I totally lost it, I burst into tears and my wife didn't know what was going on. A long story to say this, be grateful for everyone in your life. Enjoy every second they are with you, and remember the good times. I have lost many family members since then and my wife of 27+ years now has also. I look forward to the day we get to see them again. I also look forward to singing with Glen and George in heaven.
They used to come to Gilead Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan every year for New Year's Eve, back in the 80's, and I never missed a single moment of it. If I could sing like Glen Payne I would still be singing this song in churches today! I love these guys!
wow, this brings back memories, I am crying as i hear it, my mother and i would ride in the car when I was 14 15 years old and listen to the catherdrals (My favorite group) on a casette tape, I mis her so much that it hurts, I know i will see her again. Bitter sweet memories.
@AugustMilli God Bless You! My favorite group of all time, lost my mother also. I was in the audience at the Quartet Convention when Glen called in from the hospital. I cried my eyes out. Hadn't cried in years.Know your pain and pray for you.
Worship is an emotion. It is pouring out your heart with tears and everyhthing that is in you to the Almighty God with thanksgiving. Leave the dignity to those who are only warming pews.
they that worship Him must worship Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH. that is the key to worship. it is not about emotion. it is about whether a person loves God or not and has their heart where it should be.
true true true. Emotions is what dragged this country down, in the bigger scale. Emotions are a powerful and dangerous thing. Emotions alone nearly most of the time mean destruction. Emotions with something else, like, say, backed up by intellectual and mind-made decisions, then yes, i'd agree with them:)
Finally they´re sending to RUclips, Cathedral´s videos without that same 90´s formation(Ernie & Scott)... These guys, besides men of God, they´re really amazing figures..and Dan´s nervous screams at his trebles really freaks me out...
Someone badly wants to suppress this song. I thought most people knew that Sarajevo was in Bosnia since they hosted the Winter Olympics there in 1984. I was there and I am proud that my father won medals in both Nordic and Alpine Skiing events. I am fluent in Bosnian. The stealing of music copyrights is extremely upsetting to me!! I went with the Pope on this trip down the Danube River and through the Balkan Peninsula. It upsets me that Godless people have no respect for that!!
@tmua23 I'll try again. The word "worship" means to ascribe worth. This song does that in a form of testimony. That it is musical in well within the Biblical tradition. That it is well done shows hard work. That it lifts the worshipper's burdens, sight, and emotions is what worship should do!
I previously thought the "Live in Atlanta" version was my favorite, but this one is now my favorite. How are those people just sitting there when the chorus kicks in?
@ConnieT2008 It will be UNREAL when we meet the Lord!!! I will want to see and talk to the great ones in the bible (Joseph is my favorite) and hang out with George and Glen. Who needs streets of gold? Bet ole Glen is teaching some angels a thing or two about singing!
Once on a hillside, people were gathered Hoping to see Him, as thousands were fed He touched the blind eyes, healed broken spirits He moved with compassion, while He raised up the dead Verse: Once on a hillside, people were gathered Watching as Jesus was crucified No one showed mercy, to the one who had healed them Yet, Jesus loved them, as He suffered and died (key change) Verse: Once on a hillside, people were gathered For Jesus had risen and soon would ascend Then, as He blessed them, He rose to the heavens And gave them His promise to come back again Chorus: We shall see Jesus, just as they saw Him There is no greater promise than this When He returns in power and glory We shall see Jesus, we shall see Jesus, just as He is! If you think any of these tenors use falsetto, then you do not know what head voice sounds like. They only use falsetto as an accent in their arsenal of skills; none of the tenors from any of these popular groups (Legacy Five, Cathedrals, Gold City, and many of the others) use falsetto as his main technique to hit high notes.
I know that you are just having fun but that's sort of a low-blow. I am proud of my Baptist heritage. And though I agree that we shouldn't be so worried about really expressing our feelings toward God and His mighty love and power we also have to be on guard that we don't pay the reverence due to an almighty God by keeping His House a place of worship and not just a building full of emotions.
I have to disagree with you. Worship is not an emotion. It is a folly of this generation and the last in making us believe that there must be some sort of outward emotional response in worship. If we are going to be very literal, this is called praise whereas preaching would be worship. I think that there are too many emotional responses in this world and not nearly enough spiritual responses to the Word of God. You would have to agree with me there.
I would be interested in hearing more of your commentary on worship. Not here though. I write a blog at ravenquestbiblelearningcommunity.blogspot.com. If you are interested meet me over there.

Absolutely right on!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to meet Jesus Christ face to face, thank you Jesus for loving everyone such as you do. Thank you 😊❤❤
I am so glad that neither George or Glen got bitten by the "I'm going solo" bug. They were the anchor and base for all the awesome voices who joined them! Can't wait to hear them in Heaven!
The expression with which Glen Payne sings the last verse can make any audience stand to their feet. No group can sing this song better than them.
I'm 63 and this is one of my most favorite songs from many years ago,and I still cry today....God Bless Everyone, for Jesus is coming back...........
Southern Gospel at its best ! GLORY to GOD !
if more singers would put as much effort into their singing as this group did,it would bring back the real meaning of worship
+Bessie Bearden This is very true. I'm only 18 but I know exactly what you mean. They went from worship music to entertainment.
@@jonathansteinfort175 you're so very right. Bring back the Glory to God days. Amen

So glad they didn't say well we did for 10 years and now we're gone to chase our real dream. God gave these voices and this opportunity

WOW. Danny Funderburk is the most amazing tenor singer I have ever heard. The ending of this song is just incredible!
This song brings me to my knees every Time! What a worship song♥️
Fills my spirit with the Love of Jesus! I’m so happy Jesus Saves!!!

Heard them in the 80's at Cherry St. Baptist in Springfield, MO...NEVER can forget,
MOVES THE SOUL

Wonderful songers
I love this group. You sure can tell they live a life for God.
I love this gospel group!!
Just a wonderful song about Jesus and His love for us. Praise the Lord. Gwen Weaver
Seems like just yesterday they were alive and together. What a national treasure that were.

And they are in the beautiful presence of our Savior now, singing for God Him Self. No yesterday, no tomorrow - just eternal now! Praise God!

We Shall See Jesus was translated into Croatian for Pope John Paul II when he held a crusade in the City of Croatan in the summer of 1989.

The last verse of We Shall See Jesus was translated into Bosnian for the creation Pope John Paul II held in Sarajevo in the Sudetenland of 1989.

No, it is Gerald Wolfe (Now with Greater Vision) ... Anthony Burger never played with the Cathedrals, but wouldn't it have been great if he had!
Gerald plays the keys EFFORTLESSLY and Anthony plays with much enthusiasm. They are two great gospel pianists.
I think it was filmed at PTL... Does that answer your question? :D
can someone tell me in what year this was? Wonderful song! thank you
@Pollymyluv look foe david phelps wes hampton and jay parray. they sing pretty high and effortlessly
@legendary240 it's pushing your vocals its not screaming. controlling a scream won't sound good. it is singing
Could somebody tell me, what DVD or VHS this is from?
Thanx!
@rejhhill All singing above a normal speaking voice is a "controlled" scream
