George was the real deal. He was a fine man, a Christian, a blessed vocalist. He and Glen were the soul of the Cathedrals, and southern gospel music. When I was very young I played piano and sang in a quartet of high school boys. We actually sang with the Cathedrals a few times, and they always treated us so nicely. They would even get us on stage to sing a song with them, and I got to stand beside George. Hearing him right in my ear, not through a PA, was awesome. Later in life I played at shows with tens of thousands watching, and even performed in Carnegie Hall, but nothing ever topped standing beside George.
@@faint442008 - Good. Brian Free and Assurance just came out with a top 10 hit called "Liar Liar". It's pretty awesome. It's on EwwTube now. They're my favorite group. Brian is also a minister. Very real Christians. Not just singers and entertainers.
I can't stop watching this great man, long after he flew to be with God his maker. What a way, what a style to exit? God keep George in peace and give us others just like him.
He's The Man So Consistent I Love Him And Miss Him🥺❤ Still He Is So Solid In His *Final Appearance* George Younce , Glenn Payne And The Cathedral's Legacy Will Live On ForEver Amen..
This Man along with His best friend , even though They are no longer with us, they will Always be a blessing that God gave this world. I was part of a Gospel Quartet as a 1st Tenor. Our Baritone moved away and when we added the 4th member again He was a better 1st Tenor than I was so I moved to Baritone. But the main reason for this is The Cathedral Quartet was our Biggest Inspiration. True there was and is Groups in the world that are Amazing BUT, there probably not a group in the world that hasn't had the Cathedral Quartet as inspiration. I look forward to the day that I walk through those gates and be able to sing praises with Glenn Payne and George Younce.
I never have seen George in concert before but watching this video of him reminds me so much of my grandpa. He’s so funny and seems like he would have been a great man to know. I think I was in HS or just out of HS when he passed away and my grandpa passed the beginning of my senior year.
We do too!!!! We are on the hunt for more videos and content... would you like to see more Cathedrals material???? Do you have any other groups or events you would like to see video of? :)
I believe that I met George Younce in my hometown of Martins Ferry, Ohio when he was a member of the Blue Ridge Quartet. They did two concerts each summer in the city park, a literal stone’s throw from the house I grew up in. Even back then, God was sowing, watering, and increasing me, until I gave my life to Jesus Christ, in 1979.
O how I. Love this thank you Bill we must never for get. How sick he was but funny he was and nevertheless sang. Dance. Whenever the world is getting the best of me I just pull up the cathedrals on RUclips and crank the volume. If George and Glenn can’t sing you happy you are in serious trouble. I only wish I could have seen them live. 😢
Me too..... That was incredible. 20 groups in one spot all screaming in harmony in unison, no competing for 1st place..... It wasn't long after that they changed dramatically. 4 groups, shorter concerts. Still good but nothing like the old days.

Bill had many wonderful moments, but this must have been among his favorite.
I saw the Cathedrals in concert many times, I always thought he was the best. A beautiful voice and hilarious sense of humor.
As much as we dislike death, George is very alive in SPIRIT! Consciousness never dies!
