Meredith's work is breathtaking! As I listened to her speak about future projects and admired all her individual and colorful coral pieces, I saw in my mind a masterpiece that could be created of a coral garden of all the different colors and species in one large coral garden. I look forward to following her creative journey. Thank you for a wonderful interview!

The mounting of this art (particularly in relation to selling this art and keeping it from deteriorating) was the most interesting to me. I’ve known people who have pinned paper and textile art to the actual gallery wall (yes! In layers, too!) and wondered how on earth one would eventually be able to manage to build these in sellable sizes and mounts. Really informative!

My most expensive mistake involves thread which I've been storing in jars waiting for the right idea to use it in some way. This interview has given me some thoughts to explore. I am enjoying seeing younger women pursuing a career in textiles. It is hard... especially with children. Balance is an in and out thing. If you're there, it's only for a bit.

Great to listen to Meredith in this interview today. As a fellow western Sydney sider we were neighbours before she moved north. I have not seen her work before but it was absolutely amazing. I have made some lace pieces on my home embroidery machine with wash-away and it's an amazing process watching the stitches stay intact when you dissolve the stabiliser. I must look into her works more♥️🇦🇺

Thank you, Karen! You continually broaden my textile arts world. Fascinating technique! But my biggest take away was the comments about the myth of finding a balance. So nice to hear, I am not broken, because I have never found that balance. 😅 And P.S. - I love your new studio! Karen, you always have the most interesting interviews on your channel! This one was such a delight. I plan to start following her, and perhaps taking classes…if the time difference works out. I have explored this technique a bit through my embroidery machine’s website; wouldn’t it be fun to learn freehand and sew it on my sewing machine?! I think I have more projects going than I have years left to sew. 🤭

I love the comment about subtraction! I think if we view balance as a journey and a practice we will get farther than viewing it as a destination. You don't set up this perfect "balanced" state and expect it to hum along indefinitely. It's a guiding operating principle that you work toward as you move through life. It's a living working tool not some magical state that you can get into and keep!

I love this artis and her work.! I first saw and learnt about her and her technique 9 years ago on an Australian show called Colour In Your Life. It was a really interesting and lengthy show from her studio and I heartily recomend it if you got curious about her tecnique,
"Double trouble" from England also have some very interesting videoes with this and related techniques. (Also used on garments)
I love doing this kind of work and those are just some supplying you tube videos I ofen look at and get inspired from.
Thank you Karen for finding such a diversity of Artists and presenting them for us.

Hey all; dopey question. I love these shows so much because they start my imagination engine revving and I'd love to make something similar. My question is: do these sewing/thread artists copyright their work and if I tried to make something like they created, am I infringing on their copyright and would that land me in jail? I am keenly aware that these artists do what they do to make a living and so there is a financial consideration for them if people just replicated their work and especially if it was re-made and then sold onward. Thank you for your help in advance!!
