Love the sound of Albies peeling off line.
First year trying to jig for tog. Everything I've learned is from John and I've gotten keepers from shore every trip!
We don't deserve John Skinner.
I'm glad shore jigging worked for you!
And here my dumb butt is out here casting plugs thinking that they're blue fish seagulls everywhere last weekend love to watch your videos you are a fish magnet and always very informative thank you
always a good time
Love everything you do for the sport Mr.skinner
I love watching Albies chase your lure, very exciting to see if they take it. Great video and looked to be a warm day up there.
I grew up fishing small streams and creeks in pa and one of the most important things that helped me when learning to fish saltwater was treating it like a larger version of what I knew how to fish. now if I could only get to the salt more!
Togs look like a blast
Nice vid! Thanks!
You are very happy to share the big and small fish you catch.
Hello John,
I just picked up your 5th book and I'm finding it very informative. I'm also picking up a Kayak, Old Town 120 and can't wait to start using it this coming spring.
I watch all your episodes that you have put out on RUclips.
Close Follower,

I'm glad you're enjoying the book. Thanks for your support!
Mr Skinner i cannot beleive one of major boat builders won't give you a boat as advertisement- small grady or boston center console.
Always useful bits of information on each video!
Rod looks good and like it works well
Nice job John, always great to view you trips
Always love watching your vids every time I’m unsure about some lure or reel I always watch your videos keep up the work
You are a fishing Maestro.
Hey! Easy on the paint 😂
We have a red tide in the pine island area. hopefully it clears up with this colder temps
Just got in last night. A few dead catfish in the backyard.
I love the albies
I love 7 foot rods, I never really liked anything shorter until I used your other rods. Looking forward to trying this new one. Wish you were with us when Cliff pulled up that double digit on the jig. He started the engines to leave! Then that came up lol.
Great catch for Cliff! Nice job putting him on it.
So I have heard a lot of people talk about how the fish don't like the sonar beams, I hear it more from bass fisherman including some of the pro's. I would say it probably is a good idea to shut off the sonar. Do you bleed the black fish like you would a fluke or do you think it matters?
I bleed everything I keep.
That looks fun. I notice you never use a Gotcha plug. How is that lure for Spanish and Jack?
What a day, calm, flat water. Were they feeding on the small bay anchovies like the bass were eating in the last video. When you caught your record fish were you on the beach or in a boat?
Couldn't even see the bait. The big albie was on the beach.
Nice!
Hey John, nice meeting you this week! The bass I took home fed 7 people, it was delicious!!
If you were to be handed a 7ft medium heavy spinning rod with a 3500 sized reel with 20lb braid and your choice of leader, would you say that that would work well for fishing by boat or surf for light tackle albie fishing and taug fishing jetties. Then be used for light schoolie bass and blues?
Yes, absolutely you can do a lot with that.
How many evicts do you own?
Can the same current conditions occur to the east side of Hortons, and Rocky Points, on ebbing tide ? Thanks
Probably hortons, not so much rocky pt.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing i don't know where your fishing but that west drift on outgoing tide i used to fish for fluke at flax,
Good morning John. If you toss the crab legs in, will that help build the bite? I see everyone keep the legs on the boat. I never targeted Blackfish, learning, Thanks
I worry they'll drift too far in current and I'll pull fish from under the boat.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Makes sense, thanks for the reply. I guess you'll have to come up with a crab leg chum pot ... LOL
Any plans on pineisland this year?
Just got in last night. Some dead catfish in the back yard from red tide, but nice to see how much the leaves on the vegetation grew in a month.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Oh nice I got back just went down before Thanksgiving for a few weeks the red tide seemed to be clearing up when I was leaving hope it’s looking better now should be back in a week! Hope the fishing is good for you!
Love your videos John! Are there Albacores in Oyster Bay area?
That's pretty far west, but I know they make it at least to Huntington some years around September and early October.
John have you ever tried eating Albies? I read they can be tasty.
Accidently many years ago. Terrible.
Bleed them out, filet and remove all blood lines, wrap in cheesecloth and boil twice, mix it up like you would any tuna fish salad and you will be amazed how good it is.
Just took my boat out of the water so please keep the albie catches to a minimum... I'm the jealous type... 😀
John, are the water temps warmer this season keeping Albies around longer?
hes fishing one of the best spots in long island for fish. that's whats holding them longer. I went there with my mother and she caught albies...
Yes - the water ran warm before this cold snap.
Keep up the good work friend. The best place to fish. Best strike. ANGLERsolo is present to monitor his video. Hello, a hobby
I wanna go out for black fish but it’s been really cold out
Hey John, Do you still suffer from tennis elbow? If not, what worked to fix it? I've had it for several years now and fishing is the main cause. Bucktailing for fluke and snap jigging seem to be the biggest contributors. Thanks.
Not anymore, and I haven't been wearing the arm band much. I should keep doing it so it doesn't come back.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing I'm glad to hear you are better. I use the arm band while fishing and it helps minimize the pain. I've been doing the exercises, stretches, and use a massage gun but I am still struggling with it.
Do you trailer your boat or do you have a slip in a local marina ? Are there any boat ramps that a non resident (Suffolk County) can use ?
Mattituck Inlet state ramp.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Thank you .. will be giving that area a try in the spring.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Is a 17’ skiff adequate to fish this area of the sound ?
I would love to fish with you, your basically one of my heroes next to bill dance and jimmy houston
Where’s the slime wave skinner

Those albies are such fun..this ine was 11.5 lbs, accidental..he hit a popping cork/vudu shrimp combo at Radio Island NC while fishing for Specks. Then another ine hit and took all of my line/tackle..'cause I thought it couldn' happen twice..
John I’ve been watching you since I was 13 can we go fishing together for blackfish I live in BK NY, I’m an adult lol and also film , building content to launch a channel
Hi John. Quick question. Do you use a swivel or a knot between your leader and the main line on yourblackfish rod?
swivel
Nice catches! Let's make a deal... You take me out with you and I'll clean out all the leaves/debris in your boat.
I folow you in ur vids , but you never said your locations spots 4 fishing , l know the best fishing you keep on secret 😊 like it let me know for good spots😊
I'd rather have the small keepers. Tastier and less likely to be contaminated.
