I haven't ever felt torque like it. I was lucky to compete in LMP2 when they were running at their fastest spec and comparable in laptime to Formula 2, but this thing was something else and an absolute joy.
it is so weird that car is going so fast but engine sounds like it is at 2000 rpm , but what a fantastic sound. amazing when manufacturer do something out of ordinary.
The first R18 was a V6 with no hybrid. Hybrid was the e-tron versions, this Pug is the 908 HDi FAP, with the V12, the later 908 was a V8. I still think of the diesels, the R15 was the best sounding, nice rumbly V10.
@@juryo_ @Juryo My dad used to work for Cummins, so I had grown up around diesels most of my life and I get what you mean. Something about the low thrum of a diesel that's quite relaxing and satisfying.
How much reserve does the car has in the fast sections: maggots and becketts. How much faster would it be there if running 100%? i see about 2.6g there in this run
The G meter on this system is not 100% accurate, we only use it more for speed. In qualifying it would be quite possible to pull between 3 and 4 lateral G
That pace on straight is touching F1 car speeds... what a machine
Timeless diesel sound. End of the best era.

@@richardbradley58 wow. It's amazing to hear some feedback from someone who has driven one! 😮😁😁
@@daveyboiyeah No worries, I'm a fan of these cars as much as any one, any questions about any of the cars I drive feel free to ask :)
@@richardbradley58 😀😀🙂
Got such a grunt to it
I still think this is one of the if not the greatest LMP car in history.
Le mans will never be the same.

It's a rocket ship. The torque you feel in your back in indescribable and no matter how often I drive these cars, it never gets boring.
mais il est a 2000 tours/mn, comme tous diesel, le régime maxi ne dépassait 5000 t/mn
audi and peugeot turbodiesel engine were revving just up to 4500 -
Why are all the cars parked in the middle of the circuit??
sounds so much like the audi r18. obviously minus the hybrid system. love diesel engine sounds so much.
It’s actually nicer when you drive… more soothing , therapeutic almost!
@@richardbradley58 to say I'm extremely jealous of you is a complete understatement.

@@fuzzy-daddy83 I don't know why, but I find the sound of the endurance diesel engines so satisfying. Especially in the lower RPM's.
