the show could've worked with another jim (especially adam scott!), another pam, kevin, angela, maybe even michael. but no one else could have been dwight schrute. rainn wilson's performance, the intensity and dead seriousness with which he says the insane things he says - just not comparable. in my acting classes, we were always told you can't approach your lines with any level of irony. you have to believe in what you are saying just as much as your character does. and that's really the key, especially to a comically serious character like dwight
rainn was just incredible I genuinely couldn’t see the show working without him as Dwight like imagine if Seth got that role ... idk I feel like rainn is super unappreciated so after this vid it really shows how he kept the show going all these years with his rendition of the one and only Dwight Schrute
I actually think John Cho would’ve been good at playing Jim. That’s about the only one of the other actors that I could imagine working in place of the actors they chose. Obviously they picked the right Jim but I’m just saying I could picture it working. Seth Rogen as Dwight would’ve killed the show. I could picture him in place of Darryl but that’s about it.
Who’s Rainn? I thought the showrunners grew their own Dwight in a lab to play the character and then he broke out of the studio using his martial arts training and has been loose in the real world ever since.

The actress who plays Angela was auditioning for the role of Pam, in this video. You can tell because they’re mostly reading scenes from the original British scripts, in this video, and the Angela actress is reading lines spoken by Dawn the receptionist (who became Pam in the US version). The actual scene that “Angela” is reading, is Dawn complaining about being engaged for years - which went onto become a storyline in the US version as well

@@JoyGrenade Yes. The entire point of casting calls is to throw a bunch of different mental tactics into the mix to see how actors respond to each cue. Man this is the true definition of a perfect cast, it's uncanny how every actor nails their characters
NO ONE can beat John Krasinski’s facial expressions so he was absolutely perfect to play Jim
His facial expressions crack me up, no need to say anything
For sure, the fact that he kinda looks like Martin Freeman and can give off the same vibe while still having his own expressiveness just makes him perfect for the role to me
Honestly
@@ankitbhasi7794 i'm glad he didn't get the part, mostly so we could get him on parks and rec :D
If the show didnt have the constant breaking of the 4th wall i think they would've gone in different directions tbh
this show wouldn't exist whitout steve. he is so natural. best series ever
Although it would be interesting to se Saul good men and micheal
Bob Odenkirk coulda done it, that’s why they had an episode with him in series 8 or 9. But a flavour difference
I mean still would exist because it was made in the UK first...
True but it also wouldn't exist with Steve alone is the best sites ever because it had the perfect cast
I think what you mean is it wouldnt exist with Ricky Gervais, as its all him and carell is just a puppet.
I’m just glad they picked the right Dwight .

Seeing this context - up against some fantastic actors - really helps you appreciate the casting. Dwight is on another level.
Why is no one talking about how Meredith Palmer’s actor was auditioning for Jan...
Yeah I think we’re all ignoring it because of how cringey it was :/ she didn’t even know the line lol

We know this when he shows up later in the seasons as Pam’s new boss… also Adam Scott would have been a good choice for Jim too. everyone talks abt steve and rainn, being perfect cast, but tbh, i feel that even more w pam. i can’t see that role being anyone either than jenna fischer.
Yes! she nails that vanilla girl stereotype and yet she is full of charisma at the same time.
Right? When she talks about the career move, you can see that she looks like she doubts that.
yes. yes i is extremely agree. the girl that tried out to be her just didn’t fit. angela ( the actor ) actually tried to get the pam role and she didn’t. i’m glad! jenna was definitely the best pick.
I actually thought this too, though I do think Katherine Hahn would’ve made for a pretty good Angela, Angela Kinsey is good too though lol
@Wise Man woah calm down its an opinion
the show could've worked with another jim (especially adam scott!), another pam, kevin, angela, maybe even michael. but no one else could have been dwight schrute. rainn wilson's performance, the intensity and dead seriousness with which he says the insane things he says - just not comparable. in my acting classes, we were always told you can't approach your lines with any level of irony. you have to believe in what you are saying just as much as your character does. and that's really the key, especially to a comically serious character like dwight
rainn was just incredible I genuinely couldn’t see the show working without him as Dwight like imagine if Seth got that role ... idk I feel like rainn is super unappreciated so after this vid it really shows how he kept the show going all these years with his rendition of the one and only Dwight Schrute

The actress who plays Angela was auditioning for the role of Pam, in this video. You can tell because they’re mostly reading scenes from the original British scripts, in this video, and the Angela actress is reading lines spoken by Dawn the receptionist (who became Pam in the US version). The actual scene that “Angela” is reading, is Dawn complaining about being engaged for years - which went onto become a storyline in the US version as well
I think Pam got the role because the way she speaks is so real, I can hear like small sighs after each sentence. Like she's already working at the office, tired of it, and she has bigger dreams.
5k likes 😘😘 thanks
Yeah for real. It kinda pulled at my heart strings
It's coz that's Jenna Fischer's real life story bleeding into the audition: a receptionist for a company with big artistic aspirations. She was almost gonna give up acting right before she got the call to audition for Pam. She was meant to play Pam.
the other actress (no offense at all) just doesn't seem right and obviously cause i'm used to jenna but looking at it i just feel like that actress could have honestly played meredith over pam lol pam is an amazing character
She always looks like she's about to cry which just adds to the realism

Yo homie
He said "What context did I use it in?" 😂😂😂
I imagine they knew, but they wanted to see how Steve would riff on it, given that he's a master improviser. And he nailed it.
@@JoyGrenade Yes. The entire point of casting calls is to throw a bunch of different mental tactics into the mix to see how actors respond to each cue. If they knew about it the entire point of the exercise would be lost. How the actor responds and in the way they do determines if they have the right energy and mood for the show and the character. When you're working with experienced actors they know all the tricks in the book and you have to catch them off guard and mix things up to get the right scope of their talent.
In Portuguese, "O que será, será", is a rather old-fashioned expression, meaning something similar to "what will be, will be".
