So here's a guy that can fix mowers with one hand. Great demo on how fuel looks when it has water in it... and showing how water beads up when pouring out the float bowl. You need to grow a third arm to hold the camera. Hats off to you sir for the effort and great results.
Your video was awesome. My husband and I are 74 and 73. We have never done anything mechanical and so we thought let’s try a RUclips and see if we could clean a the carburetor ourselves and save us some money and time. We followed your instructions to the letter, and when it was all put together, it started right up. We were ecstatic! Thanks again😊
after realizing that I can't afford lawnmower repairs anymore, I decided to tackle this myself, and THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video! I was able to fix my non running Husqvarna walk behind with this easy to follow video and have opened up my carburator, cleaned and reamed, added a new spark plug and a new air filter... she cranked into life once more!!! woopie!!! yay yay yay you guys rock
Thank you very much, for this video. Your instructions were super easy to follow. It took me only 15 minutes to disassemble, clean and reassemble the carburetor and my lawnmower finally started up. I felt like Tom Hanks in Castaway - "Fire!!!" Thanks again.
This is a phenomenal video! I have two of these mowers that I got used and they had both bogged down over the years. Took one out to see if I could start it two weeks ago and my toddler son put the garden hose in the gas tank. This video showed me how to get the water out and clean the carb parts. That mower worked so well I took out the other one and did the same cleanign and filter repalcmemtn on it. Now both are runnign like new. Thanks so much for this video and the great step by step instructions!
A good Video. I have a husky mower later model than this one, but it has the same carb. Has been surging for a couple months, so I finally decided to clean carb. I have worked on many mowers for over 40 years but never had this problem. So, after watching the video, I removed the carb., used guitar string to ream out jets, sprayed them with choke cleaner, put back together and started it up and is not surging. Was an easy disassembly and re assembly. My model is 725ex. Good video. Thanks for posting..
Thanks brother. Im pretty handy and do my own car work but I've never worked on a lawn mower carburetor before. Was a nice quick easy tutorial now I'm set for life with these things!! Very simple! You're the man!!💪💪
Thanks for the extra details while your doing this job! This video helped me out a ton. I’ve never come across this type of carburetor before. Made my diy job, so easy.
Perfect explanation of step by step audio and visual walkthrough. Luckily I had the same exact carb, just needed some carb cleaner and now it's stopped pulsing and runs great so, thank you!
Great video, got me back up and running very easy. I was kind of surprised, my float was that clogged up, but I sprayed it out regardless and sure enough, mower is back to running fine. Can’t thank you enough for the walkthrough!
Mower would die immediately, and run choppy, now it RUNS LIKE A BEAST! Thanks for the great video!! Side note: I had no Carb cleaner, so I used Dawn and Hot water then dried the heck outta it. Also, the tank was easy to slide off, so I did that and cleaned it with HD grout cleaner I had allaying around and rinsed several times then dried all moisture out.
@@smallengineguys Local Husq shop parts guy told me if I wasn't used to rebuilding small engine cabs to just save the hassle and replace it. Glad I did. Started on the first pull.
@3:35 I fought with trying to put that white jet assembly back into the carburetor but it would not snap back in. Turns out that white ring inside the carburetor needed to be pushed in about a 16th of an inch and then the white jet assembly popped right in. Thanks so much!!!
Ugh. 62yr old lady, husky 221 FHE owner. Will try as advised. Seems like I won't fail, watching your really well-explained instructions. Need to go buy one of those bent needle nose pliers first. My prob - I filled my husky 221FHE up w brand new rec fuel, started no problem, did a section of my lawn, and suddenly it just puttered to a stop. Checked air filter - a mess. I see oil splattered everywhere! Cap was loose - I didn't retighten from last weekend's check. Cripes. Check oil level - zero. Go buy a new air filter and a gall of 5w-30 at husky shop. Filled it w/oil..lots of it! (not happy w self). So, Now, it starts right up (meaning it's not the spark plug, right?) but then it stops, just as quickly. Starts, stops, etc. Two hours later, starts then stops. Starts and then stops. No lag. - Somebody else had a video on readjusting valves - oh please no. I'm going to give this a try. Anything else I should check?? (And Thank you, btw, for this awesome video!)
Firs any pliers will work on the fuel line. Second this mower holds only 3/4 a quart of oil. Make sure its not to full and it sounds like the carb needs cleaning. Youll do fine just follow my instructions.
@@smallengineguys UPDATE: (and 2nd update) I DID IT!!!! ...RPMs are way too high! 2nd UPDATE - I tweaked a metal frame away from the 'governor' spring mechanism, and that happened cuz I worried over the 8mm screw on right side earlier, it was just all 'off'. So, RPM is better, still seems a bit high, but maybe it's as it should be/should've been? I'll burn this up, or I won't. We'll see, I guess.

Thanks for this. Effed up and didn't winterize mine from Oct to first mow in April. No start. Ethanol or not, pretty sad 'modern carb' equipment can't go 6 months with e10 or whatever in it. Had to borrrow my brothers 1998 $100 Craftsman Troy-Bilt that could sit for years with bad gas and run like crap but still start basically every time.
I was working Oon a 725 EXI LC 221ah. Husqvarna. Reall simular. I could get the carberator back on the tube. Very tight. I had to spray carb cleaner and iat went right on. The side tube wasn't alighed with slot on this model. Also of note, That's a good gas/water check. Although I see wet beads of water that look like they are in the bottle already.
Excellent video brother, thank you so much...Mine starts and runs about a minute then stalls and wont start..Wait about and hour and it starts again then stalls. I replaced the plug gapped .024-.031,,,,I removed the carb and blew it out with compressed air. But i didn't remove the carb bowl at the bottom, should I do that? I installed the carb and it wouldn't start. Waited about hour and it started and ran for about 30 seconds then surged a few times then stalled............Oh and i also removed the gas tank and cleaned it out and blew it dry with air. New gas too. I was thinking the coil might be going bad. Can the coil cause surging and stalling? Do you recommend I take off the carb bowl and clean it like you did in the video? Sorry for such a long comment...
it was puttering pretty bad after this so I figured it was something else but I kept pulling the cord to give it some more kick and it eventually took off. Thanks
I know it's a long shot but do you have a part number or a link to where I can buy the cover for the carb? The part behind the air filter with the 4 screws
Great video! This got my mower running again after some bad gas. I seem to be having an issue with the idle staying stable now. It was fine for one pas, then stalled. It would start, run for 10 seconds, then stall again. I moved the linkage back and forth a few times then it ran ok (at a lower RPM then normal) so I mowed the lawn. Stopped it, then went to start it again... now the idle is way too high. Could it be just time for a new carb? or could I be looking at a linkage issue?
i have only had to replace 1 of these in all my years doing this. and that was because someone else was in it first and lost some important pieces. sounds like you need to clean the carb again. please make sure you clean the tank very clean. and please use brand new fresh today gas. also non ethanol is best but if it isnt easy to get use low octane. these mowers dont do well with high octane, also clean or change air filter and change plug. make sure choke throttle linkages are in properly. hope this helps and of course if all else fails go to the description below click the link get a new carb.
So I already clean carburator, replace spark plug, add fresh gas and still stalling. Any other suggestion? I noticed a little crack in the little filter inside gas tank. Could be that?

I can get one of these for $140, from folks the next county over, 4 yrs old only used for 2, they got a riding mower,,,, is it worth it or pass and get something better.
it is if it starts first pull. if it doesnt it will cost around 80 bucks to get the carb rebuilt. unless you are slightly mechanical and can follow directions then this video will do you good. these carbs clog easy so i suggest non ethanol fuel
One of Briggs and Stratton worst engine designs with these plastic carbs and auto chokes. I pulled the carb again and it was plugged up again. I pulled the fuel tank and it had dirt and grass inside.
