    Nice update Remy! My Red Sea 350 G2+ has been up for 5 months as well so I’m following this series closely. I also did TBS sand (sprinkled on top of CaribSea Ocean Direct live sand and also added some of their rubble in sump.) I’m going to send in one of those Bio- metric tests, thank you for showing why one would want to. Of course I won’t have Salem to decipher- lol. Btw, he is amazing. I’m going to add him to my “Thought Leader” list I follow for reefing.

    Fish suggestion- Steve has been bringing in some killer wrasses lately. I had never wanted one, but I checked out some that were not sand sleepers, particularly fairies. I picked one up, and that fish has so much personality, and such a bright splash of color to the tank. I would highly recommend one, they are just so fun!

    For fish recs: Not a rare one these days, but a Copperband Butterfly looks amazing, great price, and takes care of Aiptasia. Tough to beat. If you don’t have an acanthurus tang yet, look into a Maculiceps Tang; they don’t seem to get anywhere near full size in an aquarium, they are super peaceful unlike almost all other acanthurus, and I think they look stunning but YMMV.

      Lower temp ,change salinity then douse for the ich it should kill it in about a week this will stop them from multiplying they don’t breed they self replicate so u need to stop that process before any treatment will work with corals in the tank it might take 2 weeks because your about to stress the whole system… and oh yea water changes because they move thro the water column and grow on the substrate and live rock till they can take a host to feed on

    You mentioned that the Red Sea ATO timed out and stopped working. I have the same unit and the app sometimes reports that the RODI reservoir is empty, even though it may have over 5 gallons in it, and the pump is then disabled. Not sure why this is happening.

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  7 месяцев назад +1

      I am going to contact Red Sea about this. It seems like an issue for a lot of people. I'll let you know what I find out! ~Remy

    • @georgekontos1839
      @georgekontos1839 7 месяцев назад

      @@ReefBuildersVideo While troubleshooting this I noticed that if I flip the ATO pump upside down (underwater), air bubbles come out of it. I don't know how air gets trapped inside since the pump is completely submerged underwater, but I'm thinking this might be why the pump stops working and the app thinks the reservoir is dry.

    • @georgekontos1839
      @georgekontos1839 6 месяцев назад

      I exchanged several messages with Red Sea Tech Support. Several suggested solutions were tried, but in the end the issue was resolved by the following. For systems where the red ATO tubing is quite long (mine is 6.6 ft), this allows the water to backflow into the pump and cause the pump to believe there is no water in the reservoir when the water level gets too low. The solution is to make sure that no part of the tubing going from the reservoir to the sump hangs below the siphon breaker. It's been several weeks since I made this simple adjustment and the issue has not recurred. Another useful thing to do is to manually measure the flow rate, rather than letting the app guess. I measured mine as 47 oz/min. I input this value into the ReefBeat app. Now the estimated remaining reservoir volume is more precise.

    Thanks for the Video . Quick question for you or anyone in the comments . I have the red sea 625 for almost 2 years now.
    Do you have to keep adjusting the valve so the water doesn’t go down the overflow drain ? If not do you have a tip on setting this , seems when ever I change the flow it always has to be adjusted?

    How do you deal with stony coral tissue disease? I sent off a dna test and it came back with 3 different strains of coral tissue loss disease and it bassicaly wiped out all my coral within a span of 2 years. I shut down the tank now but would like to know how to prevent these types of pathogens entering the home aquarium and if you do get it, how to deal with it?

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  7 месяцев назад +1

      This is definitely a Salem question. From my perspective, I would imagine some are way more easy to deal with than others. Like he said, aquacultured coral are a bit more robust from an immune system standpoint. I do believe that in most cases it's a "if you can't beat them, join them" mentality because there are so many variables. ~Remy

    • @DoYouEvenFishTank
      @DoYouEvenFishTank 7 месяцев назад

      Don't buy wild corals or 1st and 2nd generate frags. Stick to companies that have a "No Pests" style of aquaculture rather than the ones that keep telling you "you always going to have pests", and especially stay clear of the ones using cipro.

    I would remove those fish and treat them. Let the tank sit fallow for 76 days, and then add the fish back, and continue adding only quarantined fish. If you are done stocking I understand letting it ride, but every new fish you add is the potential stressor that will push everything over the edge. at the very least I would make sure to quarantine all new fish, to eliminate to possibility of velvet getting in.
