Fix Valorant FPS Drops, Lag Spikes & Low FPS

- This tutorial will show you how to fix Valorant FPS drops, lag spikes and low FPS. You will often experience FPS drops or lag spikes if your settings are too high for your computer. Lowering your in-game graphics settings can help fix FPS drops. However, if you have a good PC then it is unlikely that this is the issue.
Additionally, you will also want to adjust your display mode and FPS limits. By having Valorant in fullscreen mode you may eliminate some FPS issues, such as low fps. Setting FPS limits for your menu and background options can help take pressure off your system when you're not playing, allowing your computer to focus on high frame rates while you're playing. If you're experiencing lag spikes then setting a limit may fix the FPS issue.
Turning off the limit FPS on battery, and limit FPS always options will ensure that you're getting the best FPS when playing on computer and laptop. If either of these options are set to on then you may experience low FPS as you're choosing to limit how high your frame rate can go.
Another option to solve Valorant stutters and FPS drops is to change your computers reduce latency and improve performance setting. Typically, having this setting enabled will result in better performance when playing Valorant, however, this isn't always the case. If this setting is already turned on then you can try disabling it to fix the FPS drop issue.
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card then you can also fix FPS drops by adjusting your NVIDIA control panel settings. If you have the wrong settings then you may be experiencing low FPS or stutters as a result. Be sure to set max frame rate to off, and texture filtering quality to high performance.
Turning off hardware acceleration on Discord and Google Chrome may also help improve FPS in Valorant. This won't make any changes if you don't play Valorant with these applications open.
Another option to fix FPS issues and lag spikes is to close applications that you aren't using. These applications may be using resources, taking the focus away from Valorant. Be sure not to close any application that you're unfamiliar with to prevent causing any issues.
Additionally, updating your graphics card drivers can help solve any issues. If Valorant started lagging after an update then this is a possible solution. People with an NVIDIA graphics card can download game ready drivers using the NVIDIA GeForce Experience application.

@@Turbomacluvr yes sometimes but definitely not as much. I honestly think it’s just the game. Most of the stuttering is in the practice range and not really the actual matches

I just disabled gforce overlay ,limit fps in menu and disabled background running of chorme.
Berfore doing this i was getting 70 fps when enemies where not infront of me and 10-30 fps when enemies were infront of me.
After doing this I am getting 100 fps when I am not infront of enemy and 60 fps when I am infront of enemy.
It really help a lot.

Hey! If you use a mouse with a very high polling rate that can also be the issue, try lowering your polling rate to 500-250 in your mouse's provided software to see if that fixes your issue. I personally was having this issue and then after changing the polling rate it started working fine

General question here and this is for anyone who has the knowledge or know how to answer but if I disable full screen optimizations and lets say I play Val in full screen than I tab out to go to discord do I need to reset the full screen display mode each time I tab back into Val idk if this is a placebo effect but I feel like my game works smoother when I do that but I’m not sure if it’s just me or if in fact that’s what’s going on

for me tbh it was the ram issue 8 gb was good but when i installed a additional ram it fixed all the issue if fps drops and everything i think 16 gb is way to go...
I was getting packet loss total 1/2k. And around 5% incoming packet loss in game. I have 20 MS in game btw. Anyways, I was teleporting every couple seconds which almost made me wanna throw my pc in the garbage and I also almost broke my mouse out of rage :))) . Thanks to this video, I don't have packet loss rn. I didn't do everything cause some things weren't available to me.

I am experiencing an issue where my Valorant account is encountering frame drops. However, when I use a different account with the same settings, there are no frame drops at all. I have already followed all the instructions provided in the video, but the issue persists with my other Valorant account.
that's unusual. I'm not 100% sure if this applies to Valorant but I know some games experience frame rate issues due to a large friends list.

i followed the valorant settings, except i turned off antistrophic settings and made everything low
also the enable fullscreen optimization
and disabled hardware acceleration both on discord and opera gx (what i use)

I've done every step, but didn't work :/
I average 450-500 FPS (600fps if I'm not recording) but every 2 minutes or so I get fps drops down to 50fps and the only way to get it working again is to tab out and tab back in again.
When I tab out normally it's like in a millisecond, but when I have fps drops it takes up to 5 seconds.
Task manager is telling me that it's Valorant drawing 100% power.
Worked like a charm up until when they released Ecco. Have reinstalled the game 3 times, done malware, virus and root-kit searches with no results.
Reinstalled all drivers including audio......

Turning on and off the max background fps won't fix frame drops.

i am begging for anyone to help me figure this out. i have an alienware laptop i bought no more than 1 and a half years ago, i was originally able to run high performance games, like resident evil games, dead by daylight, and games like that on very high fps, usually 200-300, with no frame loss, lag, or issues of any sort. recently, whenever i try to play a game, i will experience frame drops where my fps will go from its regular 200-300+. to maybe 12 or less. it started with just this fps loss but in the last month or so after an hour or so of playing, my pc will completely shut down. sometimes it gives me 1 red and 1 blue blink on the power button, but most times it just shuts down. its recently gotten so bad i cannot play games at all because within 10-15 minutes my pc will shut down. my cpu reaches 80-99 when playing these games and sits at 44 or less when doing basic tasks. its always been this way since i got it but this shut down and fps drop problem has only been happening for a few months. i have tried everything from using different power cords, to factory resetting, to updating every driver and windows multiple times. PLEASE if anyone has any idea what this is, i would appreciate the help.

Either cap your frame rate to 3 under your monitor’s max refresh rate and turn vsync on, or turn it off and try get used to the tears
Here is the problems i have :
1 - Sudden fps drop either randomly or when an enemy shows or shoots.
2 - In deathmatch mode the screen freeze on match found 0.
3 - In other game modes i have slow loading screens and when i am in game i encounter the above (1).
If anyone has a fix or a tip it would be much appreciated!

I suggest you to not try these steps to get better fps because most of them will actually destroy your pc engine like cpu instead of increasing the performance. How? Some settings actually forced your pc to do something that it shouldn't be doing
So don't be surprised if your game got more laggier than before in the future, it is not too late for you to revert it. Then how to get better fps without using those settings? Just try to upgrade your ram or gpu
I bought my laptop and the game was running smooth was giving 160-180 Fps 2-3 months. But later now what it happens is when the match starts the fps is normal but later 1 min it falls down to 70-80 Fps now thats a massive Fps loss like a 100 i have done everything to fix it Fr but its not getting to normal. @@Crash4hof ok, that's probably input delay. There's a few ways to fix it. If you have a wireless mouse/keyboard put the USB connector on the end of the charging cable and place that on your desk for a better connection. Make sure you're not using Gsync or Vsync. Disable hardware acceleration on every application you can (discord, steam, chrome, spotify ect) Clean out your SSD or Hardrive (delete files, temp files, ect) Turn off in game overlays (Discord ect) Turn on raw input buffer in game. Also if you have an NVIDIA graphics card make sure your control panel settings are set for low latency and performance. Also try running a virus scan to make sure there's nothing malicious happening in the background.
