This was more what The HU usually sounds like with a lot more throat singing than in "Mother Nature". If you want a nice mix of tribal and modern sounds, I recommend their collaboration with Lzzy Hale ("Song of Woman"). Another awesome song by The Hu is their music video "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order".
The two string is called a morin khuur, the three string is a tov suur. The way they can go from gorgeous to fierce is wonderful isn't it? I would suggest Shireg Shireg @ SiriusXM studios. You can see the instruments up close ( there are two more added) and they add a couple different types of throat singing. Great reaction!
My favorite by them is Song Of Women with Lzzy Hale. They blend so well together it's amazing! Their cover of Metallica's Sad But True is awesome also.
5:35 it’s interesting that you feel that about this song, because this song is actually a 12th Century Mongolian poem written by Chinggis Khaan’s son (Ghengis Khaan’s) that the Hu shortened and put to music.
And you have just been introduced to the modern incarnation of the Mongol Horde... Mongol bikers. And the opening sequence? Someone once commented that a Mongol on a steppe pony was why the phrase "Mummy! Look! A pony!" were words that could make Medieval Europe collectively crap themselves. The horseman with that standard was the sight that terrified Europe in the 14th Century. Because he would have friends nearby. A LOT of friends.
2 string instrument is "Morin Khuur" escentially means horse fidle. The strings are made from horse tail (traditionally) and its because the instrument makes sound similar to a horse. Lot of mongolian traditional instruments made to mimic sound of nature and animals. Wolf Totem is made from old battle chant. Listen to Chinges Khan, Black Thunder ( sugan essena - star wars version) and Sad But True metalica cover.
The song is a poem written by mongolian general put to music. In my opinion Ghengis nearly conquered the world, The Hu will Conquer the World of Music.
Totally drew me in! As a long time “Frasier” t.v. show fan,my first time hearing of Mongolian Throat Singers was on that show, and though no performance was shown, the brothers had tickets to a concert that they spoke of. But I never knew what this way of singing entailed and this “metal” version is fascinating! I thank you,Mike and Jess, for featuring another “new” type of performance for this senior citizen to experience! And,yes Jess,I think “guttural” is a perfect way to describe this. I just loved it!❤️
The Hu are such a unique and powerful group. I love the symbolism between the warrior culture on horseback vs. the motorcycle group contrasting past vs. present. If your digging the throat singing you should check out a Siberian band called Otyken, probably start with Phenomenon if you go down that road. Looking forward to seeing more progress on the ARK Christmas house!
The HU are an absolute incredible band! we saw them last year in Newcastle England and thy are even better live! if you want to listen to yet another side to these fantstic musicians try 'Bii Biyelgee' and then 'Yuve Yuve Yu' , i guarantee you guys will be hooked :)
Hello. Great reaction. You need to react Black Thunder part1, part2, part3/bii biyelgee. / their original versions not the collab with western artists one/ watch with subtitles on ;) It will make you feel like you are watching a real movie. Also their Metallica's Sad but true cover is amazing.
This song was recorded once again in cooperation with Papa Roach lead singer Jacoby Shaddix. This version is even better, you should listen to it too! This song makes me scream after the first few bars, where is the battlefield?🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
It seems like we have completely different feelings The melody of this song evokes ancient genetic memories within me as the "whip of God." A surge of adrenaline beyond my control erupts, blood burning in my veins. It renders me bloodthirsty, craving for battle. We will engulf the world in flames and destruction, then let it be reborn from the ashes.
Love your reaction and I'm glad you enjoyed the HU Wolf wolf totem. If you wanna see something like it a different check out black thunder official video. You won't be sorry you will love it thank you
If you like this merging of traditional and modern, you might also like Wagakki band, from Japan. Here's a link to one of my favorite songs of theirs... ruclips.net/video/K_xTet06SUo/видео.html
Stuff I read. Mongolia is the most sparsely populated country. 30% of the people are nomadic. One of the bikers was the president of Mongolia. Genghis Kahn and company took over more territory than anyone and they were never conquered. If you joined them their reputation would protect you. If not, you died.
Yes, because we have lot of open land and like to keep it that way. new generation moving to the big city for modern life. The capital city Ulaanbaatar probably have like 20 to 30% of the whole mongolian population. But I miss the countryside life and the beauty of the land. Also nomad life is not easy in Mongolian cold climate, you have to keep moving and keep working to make sure you and ur herd survive. But still as Mongolian nature and the sound of "Morin Khuur" (2string instument) make my heart heavy and bring tears to my eyes (idk why or how).
@@enkhrii1530% in one city? Sorry. Didn’t know that. Just going on what I’ve read. Thank you for your message. I wish the best to you personally, to all those close to you, and to Mongolia in general. 😊
@@enkhrii15it’s Gary again. Just thought of something. When I’m having my weekly vodka and green tea my arithmetic is usually faulty. So. 30% of the people in that city leaves 70% remaining. Perhaps another 30% are nomadic. Just thinking about it but I don’t really expect you to have such answers. For all I know, 30% of people in the US are nomadic. Even disregarding the homeless and transient workers. Regardless, as before, the best to you and yours. 😊
@garyrobb5341 so I was going off as calculation from while ago. But after some research actually 45% live in the capital. Yea it's crazy that's why there are lot of traffic and pollution only around the capital city. Yea about 30 to 35% are nomads and rest live in small smaller cities or far into the countryside towns and provinces.
Next, can you react to Dek Ulik ft. Widi Widiana - Sing Dadi Nakal. This is a Balinese song, Maybe you won't understand the lyrics but you can react to the melody, the clothes or the visuals 😊
The lyrics aren't correct.. although the lyrics give some sort of version of the poetry that the song actually is. The translated lyrics do not give justice ; something is LOST, in translation lol. But in one version, in one comment, the actual lyrics were posted, and the message was much more POSITIVE then the fighting lyrics displayed in the video. They didn't write those lyrics, friends.. it's not really a fighting song, so much as it's a song that describes the fight. And it's a personal one. It's about reconciling the within: WOLF TOTEM.. that actually means something. Not as a idol, either.. it's a PATHWAY to walk, a lifestyle to live. No, I"m not Mongolian, I'm Cree from North America.. and when you live close to the Land, you understand how the Land is governance, and thinking follows that rule, always. When we can see and identify that in a people from very far away, we can follow the thinking and that is called our line for CONNECTION.

The instruments are amazing.
the Koomei singing of the Mongolians, a kind of singing style of the Oriental prairie people.
the Wolf Totem is a signal - if its white, its peace, if its black , its white and usually annhialtion
Hey Mike and Jess, there’s another version with Jacoby from papa roach 🪳
You should watch some of the concert footage from Dallas in September.
the bands name is taken from the mongol word meaning the people.
