I took Chinese brush painting classes for a couple of years and the first thing I learned was not to go back and paint over what you already have created. You just let it be. It is a part of the art. Just saying. :)
I am a Chinese and an artist, graduated from the master's studio art, a good beginning is very important, same as the foundation of the building, a lot of mistakes in this video of Chinese Brush painting techniques. You can draw for yourself, but not for education, especially students of Studio Art grades 9-12.
you could try this technique with a water based material- like watercolor or acrylic paint that's thinned down with water, or you could try using coffee or tea if you want to be more experimental.
I am just beginning to learn. Would you make other videos with more techniques making other items, such as flowers and animals, Please. Thank you so much. This type of painting is beautiful.
Thank you for the good information. It might help if when doing and demonstrating what NOT to do, you had a notation in the video as such... a big red X or something like that.
I was in Chinese brush painting classes and I remember hating it as a kid because when I was younger, I didn't think it was "real" art and made my parents take me out of the class. Now I wish I stayed because this type of painting is genuinely really pretty.
Thank you, I disregard the negative remarks because this is intended only to teach my 9th grade students some basics about making brush strokes using a medium that's entirely new to them. This video was also from when I first started teaching this unit as part of my curriculum. Hopefully will update it soon! Thanks!
Wow, just wow. Sorry to say, but this has no artistry, it looks like a cheap wallpaper. It's like about 20% of what is needed towards painting bamboo. They are not realistic leaf patterns either.

+Brittney Yu Rules are made to be broken, especially in art. If it looks grand, great!

It's weird it's like you haven't offered anything better...
Magnifique moment passé à vous regarder, Merci
This is really well done. A great help to my class!
Thanks for sharing! This was very helpful.
Is there anything you could substitute instead of the ink since I have none?

thank you for your feedback sorry for the late response! Will definitely consider updating and adding more videos about this.
Thanks for making this video. I'm a beginner and doing some pre-research before I start painting. :)
Every artist should learn this. It teaches beautiful brush and value control.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Curious what kind of paper you are using. I'm just beginning a class on Chinese brush painting.
i have used traditional Chinese paper but normal water colour paper will also work
If I am painting using, say, 3 different colours, does each colour need its own ink stone?

thanks for sharing about your experience! It is a beautiful form of art and never to late to keep trying out the style on your own ☺️☺️
Such clear instructions - thank you soooo much.
Thank you, very informative and well taught.
That was a really good vidieo, thanks
Thank you : )
What is the name of that Chinese technique?
Mao bi
It translates to "fur pencil" directly, or just an approximate translation of "brush"
thank you, I can't believe the unkind remarks, I'd be happy it I could just make your bamboo!

Very helpful
Very nice and beautiful mam
Very amateurish. I have never seen bamboo leaves with two leaves point upward like that.

My history class used this vid to do this

I would suggest taking a look at actual bamboo leaves before trying to paint them. What you have here is a poor approximation of bamboo.
