During the war, the Covenant used his clan as expendable muscle, told them dying in battle would speed their "Holy Journey." They sent them in 40 at a time. 40 to break the frontlines. 40 to die for beliefs not their own. None ever returned... until he did. And so battle after battle, war by war, 39 brothers at a time, Atriox was born. With each victory, his legend and his hatred for the Covenant grew. Eventually both were impossible to conceal. So they tried to banish him. In all we know about the Covenant's 1000-year history, Atriox was the first to defy the Covenant and survive. And his defiance inspired others. Atriox and his Banished raided Covenant resources, cutting a swath across the galaxy, hiring killers and mercenaries to his side with every battle. The Covenant had two enemies in those years: Humanity and Atriox. They almost got us. But Atriox, they never came close. The whole damn Covenant couldn't contain him at the height of their power.

I will always have a spot in my heart for the Covenant, seeing as Halo is my personal favorite game series, but I'll be damned if the Banished aren't my favorite antagonists of the series.
That scene is the perfect example of how to do a exposition scene interesting.

i swear 3:11 to 4:00 sounds like halo's equivalent of the imperial march and it is glorious

Problem: Good looks and epic music (which 343 certainly nail) don't make for a good game. They really should start hiring competent writers...
Gui Caldo atleast this game is better than Halo 5. Also 343i are taking steps to fix their mistakes.
Gavin Corder if the Banished are going to be in Halo 6, then I can just imagine this music playing as one by one human colonies fall to the Banished. Seeing the planets be glassed by this giant Banished armada and the humans being helpless to stop. They grow so powerful that they soon have the power to rival a guardian. Like if you agree.
Amber Leigh We'd probably get to see ONE colony fall. Not much is left after the Covenant, remember. But watching humanity get it'a ass whooped in Halo 6 would be a refreshing thing to watch.

Halo Wars 2’s soundtrack wasn’t as memorable as Halo Wars 1’s, but goddamn even I can admit that this was a great theme setter
That's because the halo wars 2 soundtrack is more "brutal" and "primitive" with drums and dark chants.
Shame we didn't hear this in infinite. Super menacing theme.
Atriox was so much better than M'damma he just seemed to be there...a bit of a nuisance really.
I actually never even played Halo 4 Spartan ops and I had no idea Jul M'damma even existed until after halo 5 released .
Jul was a good character throughout spartan ops but his death was a bit way too rushed

One of the most epic villain themes ever... and one of the most wasted villains ever. Atriox' introduction was flawless, then he kinda disappeared from the game. Yeah, he'll return in Halo 5, but his absence still turned Halo Wars 2 from a great stand-alone game (like Halo Wars 1) into a game that feels so much like a prequel, it hardly has a story of its own. First half of the game was great, but the closer it came to the ending, the worse it got.
The Didact and Warden Eternal is more wasted than Atriox.
I agree about the Didact, he was an awesome villain and he should have been the Big Bad of the Reclaimer saga. Cortana could have been a great Big Bad, especially since the emotional bonds both John and the player have with her would make her much more dramatic, but they kinda messed up about that. They changed her personality so drastically that she might as well not be Cortana anymore.
But the Warden Eternal... it's true he was a little wasted, but I never found him _sooo_ badass to begin with. At least I know I was really angry about them wasting the Didact and Atriox, but just slightly annoyed at how the Warden Eternal became nothing more but a recurring miniboss with barely any dialogue but the typical, evil and boring "I am invincible, you are ants compared to me, I will not let you hurt my master, blabla evil talk blabla". So... he was a bad character to begin with. Actually, the whole damn plot was completely wasted! It had such a great potential, but 343 really had to hire an incompetent writer to do the job, right? Probably he's the son of the boss or something... I mean, I'm just a young, amateur writer, with not much experience who's scripting his very first 2D RPG as we speak, and even I could have made a better story and written better dialogue than him!
Exactly, Besides that they "killed" the Didact in a comic that no one knows, Wrecked the last Forerruner!
Warden Eternal had more potential, In the Gameplay of E3 looked fearsome, But in the end turned out the opposite
But for me, the most wasted is Jul'Mdama, in the Halopedia he says he was a "Ship Master" in the old Covenant, supposed to be powerful as the Arbiter, but no, He's a fool who does not know how to use a Sword of Energy and died, Also that appeared very little in the Universe of Halo (Spartan Ops, Comics and in the beginning of Halo 5)
The reason as to why Atriox was not in the game that much is because of the fact that 343i is making campaign dlc along with a brand new expansion.
DLC... three letters to make my blood boil. Of course, make a mediocre game with awesome DLC's... why not just make the whole game more expensive and include the DLCs, if the game's worth nothing without them anyway??

Is it just me or does this song feel nothing like halo? It’s not bad as far as music goes and I actually like it but to me it barely resembles the style of music we’re used too when it comes to halo. Near the end is where it begins to pick up with similar sounding cords but even then it just feels sorta generic to me.
Isn't the halo wars 2 theme, is the banished theme a bunch of space commies, so this can sound like indiana johns if you want.
