- 1/72 Warbird Collection No.74 Vought F4U-1 Bird Cage Corsair
The F4U-1 Corsair® was a truly unique aircraft, with a powerful 2,000hp engine and a massive 4m propeller, not to mention the highly characteristic inverted gullwings. In October of 1940, it was the first American fighter to achieve a speed of 400mph (around 640kph). Initial production models of the aircraft featured a striking canopy called the "Birdcage". The aircraft took part in operations from February 1943, and with its powerful 12.7mm machine guns proved to be a formidable opponent for the Japanese Zero Fighters. In order to capture the aircraft as accurately as possible, Tamiya designers not only inspected, measured and examined the real aircraft at five different museums across North America, they were also given access to Northrop-Grumman's blueprints. The result is a highly detailed and precise 1/32 scale model of the F4U-1 Corsair. (www.tamiya.de)

DISCLAIMER:
I am not being paid to promote this kit, paints, tools and to make this video! Thanks!
Model making has come a long way from when I was making Airfix kits in the 70s, happy days.
Please NOTE* on purpose I left the model without an antennas for future "How to stretch sprue for antennas and rigging" etc... Quick and easy kit that makes a great out of the box model. Thanks for watching! All the best! Dusan.
X-21 for flat coat??? They have XF-86 now for that purpose. I thought X-21 is an additive to make glossy paint more flat.
I know some modelers complain that building a Tamiya kit is like building a "snap" together kit, it's so easy. The detail is so precise {and there is often so much of it} it always brings a smile to my face and makes me want to do a better job on the kit. I don't think any manufacturer should produce a kit that is a battle and a frustration to assemble. ESPECIALLY since the kit is not free! Beautiful detail, especially the wings! Decent R-2800. Nice job on the color mix! When you laid it down, the mix already had a good weather effect to it. Your wash really made the details pop! Beautiful job Dusan always a pleasure
That's why I like Tamiya and Hasegawa, they make models that are detailed. Heck their 1/700 ships are so detailed it can take hours to build.
I agree, as I am just struggling through the new Airfix Chipmunk; the front end is very frustrating. I have just bout this Tamiya kit, so look forward to it fitting together nicely. Sorry Airfix, but I'm disappointed
I could never understand why some modelers desire kits that don't go together well. I build models to relax and enjoy the process.
really great job on the model, but also it was really amazing how you timed the clips with music, it was a pleasure to watch
Thank you very much!! All the best! 👍 Dusan
Very nice! My grandson and I are building this together. Me 1/72, him 1/48. We watched this video and he was very excited about it. 8 yrs old. Thank you,
where is that model store? heck, it isn't a store, looks like it's more of supermarket....but for scale models.
Cockpit color for F4U-1 "Birdcage" Corsair: Tamiya XF-5 : 2 + XF-8 : 1 (Darker green, not interior green for this Corsair variant)
Tail wheel well and inside engine cowling: Tamiya X-17 : 5 + X-21 : 2 + XF-9 : 1 (Salmon pink color)
The best reference for this Corsair is that one found at Lake Michigan. It' my humble opinion.
Thanks!
By far my most favorite airplane of all time and you did it justice! Thank you.
Lovely finish. Nice to see you build 1/72 models.
Oh, boy! A build from one of my favorite modelers in my favorite scale! Outstanding job, as usual, Dusan! So envious you have a hobby shop you can go to, mine is over an hour drive away. Tamiya makes great stuff, thinking about picking up their new 1/72 Hein and bf-109G kits!
I have a Hobbytown 10 miles away, but what good is it if he doesn't carry model kits...He said the INTERNET has almost completely killed his business. He gave up trying to keep a large assortment of kits. Now he just keeps a limited few.
I like this aircraft F4U-1 Corsair very nice fighter plane. ❤😊🤩☺️🤗⭐
Phenomenal work once again ! Great work Dusan!
Beautiful build man, I always wanted to build the 1/35 Version when this particular kit came out. Cheerz!
Another excellent build thank you
I love that blue color you finished her in, excellent work.
Thanks again for posting another excellent video & model built by you!
looks like a nice kit with excellent detail (especially for the scale).
Beautiful build Dusan. Also like your passion for different tools, materials,... Congratulations and already waiting for your next project.
This Corsair looks amazing! You did a fantastic job ☺️
Great work Dusan... one of my favorites!
Ok no lo puedo negar... Estoy realmente impresionado... Es una obra de arte... En efecto Tamiya es calidad.. Estoy agradecido por trabajos como el tuyo....😎
You do fantastic work! 👍🏻👍🏻
Wonderful job on this beautiful model!
As usual, a truly outstanding build!
If I may suggest, instead of using a silver pencil, use a yellow green color for most of the chipping. The paint would chip through to the zinc chromate yellow primer mostly, only the deepest chips would reach bare metal. I use a "Rexel Cumberland Derwent Studio" pencil in the color "May Green".
Great build for a model of truly historic plane.👍👏
Thanks for another inspirational video! You got me to dig out my meager hobby supplies and start working on the Academy 1/35 Pz.35 (T). I'm super slow and still on step one but I'm doing it!
Fantastic work!
Great! It looks like good 1:48 scale model. You have very well airbrush skills - it was not like 0.3mm, rather it looks like 0.15mm nozzle! Perfect done! ;)
Great work ! Very nice !
Hi Dusan, you have done a great job on the F4 Corsair, well done mate. Happy modelling, Les.
This is no hobby, this is art............
very nice model and video!!
well done
1/72 models are so much fun
A pleasure to watch, excellent build as always, thank you for sharing same with us.
First of all, I really appreciate your skills. I wanted to ask if you could build the 1/32 P-51 from revell a second time, but with the metallic camo, where you could show how to use alclad or xtreme metal paints and how you prep the surface to get it really smooth, would be nice
Fantastic looking build of an awesome plane. Love your video, s. Thanks for the upload.
Beautiful model, really enjoyed the video, couldn't but think of Pappy Boyington and the Black Sheep
Thanks a lot for the video, I have one already ordered in HLJ so now I see it was a good purchase, I love the clean and straight forward way you build and the color mixes. well done!
Beautiful build. Only one criticism; the WW2 photos of Corsairs don't show such exaggerated panel line demarcation; it's more subtle.
WOW.........!!!!!!! Nice work dude.... very nice work...
Los model kits hechos por Tamiya vienen de otro planeta 😋👍
Awesome job on the Corsair my friend😍
Beautiful job on the bird cage canopy Corsair, Dusan.😁👍🧔🇭🇲
As always: excellent build :)
I notice in a lot of your videos, you don't say in the title what scale the model is, this would help a lot of people. This video does...congratulations.
Awesome Build, Time and Patience which I Don't have - Nice One! Cheers
Beautiful model, beautiful work, it is a pity that Tamiya all models are expensive.
excellent work as always dusan!
Amazing work
As usual perfect build ❤❤❤
build tamiya 1:72 p-47 next please thanks
Great build! I love to watch people who enjoy what they are doing!
As lm new to modelling can l ask what the purpose is of gluing parts from the outside with the brush instead of on the tab? Does the cement not show when you paint?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but please remember lm new to this level of model making 🙂
I envy you for having a physical model shop nearby - here in Sweden you have to order prett much everything online (from e.g. Poland). Amazing build as usual and great filming technique!
It is increasingly difficult to find kits and supplies in the US also. We've even started using old "unbuilt" kits, NOS, etc.
NNNNNICE. Must build this one, too.
Amazing I need to get back in to this, so relaxing and so rewarding
Great build video!
Beautiful. I wait with baited breath for your next one! Tamiya paints airbrush well, but like all acrylics the dry in the tip and the model too fast sometimes. I need some kind of acrylic retarder to slow the drying time down.
Cool vid. Thanks for sharing.
Good work
Nicely done! I wish I could get into 1/72 scale. I can get over the smaller size for some reason. Someone please change my mind.
Great video...I don't build planes, but I'm going to have to go out get this one and build it.
Hi, congratulations for your work, MAGNIFICENT MODEL very good indeed and fantastic store where to shop, if I may I would like to ask you a question, in the thirteenth minute of the video, I saw that you create a wash, you can compare it to the tamiya washes that you buy in the store , and can also be compared you have panel line tamiya? Thanks, again congratulations for your work
Great stuff
Great result Dusan, as always, no doubts
can’t wait to do mine
I really like the way yu build interior then paint. I never do that but I will now!
nice paint job
Perfekt 👍💪
Ein Lkw wäre mal cool, oder ein großer Hubschrauber 😊
Lovely build.. but can anybody tell me the purpose of the white markings in front of the canopy ??
I have a question I noticed a trend happening are you building smaller kits for the challenge or because of space limits?
hi your bilds are brilliant, just wounderd how long have you been building kits for.thx mark from the uk.
i really like this guy's modelings.
Greetings from Japan :)
Beautiful build. But my preference is the larger one from Revell, I think I’ve built it 4 times.
Wow, that kit is super detailed. I remember I made about 30 monogram 1/48 scale ww2 planes in the late seventies, and they are awful compared to this. Great job ! Say does Tamiya make a Dauntless ?
very nice job
great build man! for the next build i suggest the Kittyhawk 1:48 F-35A Lightning II
すごい。タミヤのキットが海を越えた先で羽ばたくなんて。
Sube un vídeo así de la maqueta del acorazado bismarck por favor me encantó el vídeo.😎
Can you build the Tamiya Spitfire pls?
Would love to see a video purely on your airbrush skills
Amazing ! Im building one too. In 1/32 scale
Better than the Revell! Great job!
Tamiya better than Revell? Allways!
It sure is, but Revell is not a bad kit (the new mold one) and for the price is a bargain, I'll build them bough.
Trying to find an alternative to the AS-8 rattle can. What ratio of XF-18/XF-2 did you use? Was it 1:1?
Show muito loco 👏👏👏
Excellent
God dusan found this and I am so damn happy . I like you cause your a good RUclipsr and your good at modelling , I hope this reaches you and you can reply if you find t necessary
What number of sandpaper do you use?
My dear teacher, what is the best ratio of TAMIYA paint to thinner, if the air pressure is 15 psi?
where is the model market from where you buy your Revell models?
Is excellent!!!!!
Watching this at 4am with dead brain: wow... this build made up of 72 videos...
I love, the weathering and all.
Edit: I love it*
GOOD❗
Which hobby store do you go to
I'm sorry, I don't get how he applies glue >on top< of say, tailwings at the 6:35 minute mark.
Whenever I apply adhesive like that it always shines afterwards ?
HeroSpiderman he uses tamiya extra thin, which is a really thin glue (like water) that can get to cracks or tight places by capillary action. It dries very fast
@@personanongrata9846 Thanks. Ill give it a try next time.
WOW!
You made me regret not buying the 1: 72 corsair at the hobby store
Boyington was trying to save a wingman in a birdcage on his final mission.
hi, what is OOB?
HOW!?
