This song is not about the Ramstein accident and there name. It is about the band taking a break for few years and when this album was released this song was a big we are back song. The open lyrics say

"now the wait is over"
"lend your ears to a Legend"
This so was used as the intro for that very reseaon telling everyone the wait is over we are back and ready to rock

It's their 'we're back with full force' song. It was their opening song for that album and tour after the band had had an extra long break and having experienced it live it's a hell of an opening song. I remember the arena just erupting. It was amazing.
This is the opening song of the concert, but sadly its without the entire intro. Both guitar players are bursting through a temporary wall, breaking it down with hammers. Till makes his way through the wall, cutting a door hole with an angle grinder in pure Darth Vader style. When his done cutting the hole, he kicks out the wall and people are in heaven. Its so damn cool.
For me is best the other intro of tour . With the German flag falling when the riff stars

That was apparently to commemorate 20 years since the Berlin Wall came down.
They only did that on their headline shows, where as the flag drop was used at festivals.

Still awesome to say I was at this show!! One of the hardest tickets I ever had to buy. Got them over the phone at the time! That being said one of the best concerts I ever been to! Great video!
Neat fact: Till later ended up having his cheek pierced so they could run the tiny power cord for that LED light inside his mouth.
Nope, he had his cheek pierced for the promo vid that features this effect. For touring, including this show, he was using an LED on a small thin cable into his mouth.

Yes, the song "Rammstein" fits the description from the beginning. It's from their debut album from 1996. With "Rammlied" they tend to celebrate themselves. That's what they sing "Leiht euer Ohr einer Legende" means lend your ear to a legend.

Ok, first I just want to say: you two are cool, I really enjoy your reactions. Sympathetic, natural, funny, articulated. No Posing, no babbling, just showing believable passion for great music and great artists. Alright, now about “Rammlied” (pronounced Ramm-Lead, “Lied” means song):
That performance is the opening to their 2010 concert in Madison Square Garden. It was their first concert in the USA since 2001. Back then they canceled their tour halfway through due to a) personal conflicts and exhaustion and b) the political over-the-top-nationalist-climate that was quickly developing in the USA following the 9-11-attacks. In fact it was Flake who decided to drop out and just fly home to Germany without any consideration with the band beforehands. It was all too much for him. So they wouldn’t play concerts in the USA for the following nine years. When they finally decided to make a live comeback there they decided to do it big time in the Madison Square Garden. Tickets for that concert were sold out within 20 min. That crowd in there was hardcore Rammstein fanbase and just loaded with hunger and anticipation as you might imagine. They´ve been waiting for nine f…ing years! Knowing that makes watching that opening performance even more thrilling. The whole concert and a documentary about “Rammstein in Amerika” is available on Amazon Prime (at least in Germany). I´ve watched it like 20 times. After one year of cultural lockdown without any live music I kind of feel with that crowd. If my first after-pandemic-concert was Rammstein I´m pretty sure either my heart or my head would explode. Or at least catch fire. Greets from Berlin.
By the way that´s "Rammlied" from 2009, not to be confused with "Rammstein" from 1995 which is the actual song about the air base catastrophy.
Saw them live in Australia around this time. This is their opening track.... It's such an amazing opener.... They had a massive German flag that covered the whole stage and when the guitars first kick in there was massive pyro and the flag dropped to reveal the band.... I was right up the front and was getting burned by the pyro in ich tu dir where.... Most amazing concernt ever... Only disappointment was no mein tiel

Flake (and Paul) had the words "Rammstein Flugschau" (Rammstein Airshow) on his tour bus in his former band Feeling B.
The name Rammstein comes from the US Airbase Ramstein after an accident at an air show. The song "Rammstein" tells about it.

This was their first show back in the States in over a decade.
I tried to get tickets but they sold out in less than 20 minutes.
With the light in his mouth: Till didn't want anyone to be able to see the cable, so he had a hole poked in his back cheek to lead the cable through there. He had to use stoppers while drinking because of this. Unfortunately the hole ignited and so there was only the possibility with the visible line.

Yes and no. The song "Rammstein" is a song after the Ramstein airbase in Germany, where in there was an airshow disaster, where almost 70 people were killed after 2 jets collided mid air. Rammstein the band has admitted that adding the second M was originally a mistake, but turns out that it literally translates to ramming stone, which is fitting for the music. The song Rammlied is an ode to their fans for sticking with them through the years.

Hi Folks. Some Corrections from a native german speaker. The place where the accident during the flight show in the 80s happend is called „Ramstein“. Because of the this event the band choce the name Rammstein - but with a double m., probably just for artificial reasons. The pronounciation of the song Rammlied is (like the english verb to lead ; lied is a song in german). So this is the song of the band Rammstein.
Fun fact - Ramstein American military base (the biggest in the world) is the control and pilot HQ of drones sent all over the world

I watched an interview with the guitar player Richard who said is was Rammstein Air Base where the crash happened, it's a town in East Germany... Not to correct you, that could even be wrong... The light in his mouth is produced by the company Arri Munich, which manufactures many forms of lightning for film sets. And also camera equipment. Many of the most popular movies of the last few years are filmed with arri cameras. And some sporting events also. The nfl for example.
The light is not an led in his mouth. A light source with the intensity would burn his mouth, even if it is an led. The light is produced separately an is transported to his mouth through a glass-Fiber cable

Doesn't every American know about the Ramstein air Base in Germany? Wherever the Air Force One is going to fly to outside America, it has to make a stopover on Ramstein Air base, right? Which is about 60 km or 37 miles from where I live btw :-) And hell yeah, I remember the pictures from the Air show disaster in 1988 - a very bad day.
One of us was 3 in 1988 and the other didn't exist yet. So no, we had no idea about this. 😳

well. according to the band itself the origin of their bandname actually comes from der Rammstein a concrete block trucks back into to have the correct distance to open the back to unload their goods. it just tickled them funny that such a mundane thing had such a brutal name. of course one can assume that it also was chosen to be purposefully misunderstood. that's for each fan to decide. how you got there from the lyriks however, i have no idea. rammlied is in a similar vane to "ein lied", "los" and "ramm4" a song for the fan from all i know.

The one is a Town in Germany and the other is a Stone to protect Places and Areas.
The Name of the Band is Rammstein, like the Stone, not like the Town.

Hello, good video of you. The red boa and the hairnet ? As Mat said, Till has an LED lamp in his mouth but the needs power ! If you take a closer look Till has a wide leather strap around the neck and in the neck is a bag where the batteries are in it, therefore the boa and the hairnet to cover this. Till private ? The big closet up there on stage is afraid of the stage, it doesn't like to be looked at by the people ! He is very reserved. Raised his daughter, Nele, alone. He has been a grandfather for 12 years. Vulnerability: Till and the women ! Well, no one is perfect.

about Til Lindemann, I find it so impressive that he can sing that well and that deep without any monitors in his ears. Everyone else in the band is wearing them, but he's just going off stage monitors.
