That's perfect as I've been looking at getting a PO-33, figured I'd need to backup the data somehow, and the first video I watched used an audio recorder more expensive than the PO itself. Thanks!
I put all my po tracks into my tascam record it on two tracks and pan them left and right and fix the eq and add compression makes it sounds great and save the master to a wave file
Cheers for this, I've not got field recorders, so just got a Neostar audio capture for few quid off ebay. The PO-33 is a lot of fun, but I didn't want to just wipe all my sounds to create new ones
So does this work for saving whole beats or just the data file? For example like I just want a audio file of the entire beat instead of backing up the beat
I was glad to get myself an adapter to record onto my pc. The only thing tho is when transfering data to my po I dont get the counter, it just says receiving and gets an error about a minute in :( I saved the backup as a .wav at 44kh and 16 bit and my cables work, not sure what to do
thanks for the good infos. I thought wouldn't it be a little more handy to use a device with USB to the PC and 2 stereo female 3,5mm jack separate für audio and line in/mic. There are a lot of this to buy with volume limiter as well. because when you want to restore your setting to the po you have to use the PC´s audio headphone 3.5mm jack with a separate cable, right?
You'd just need to be sure the mic is stereo, that one doesn't seem to be. Also, setting default recording device shouldn't affect your default playback device.
thank you for this, very helpful! Is this a good process also to record your songs and maybe have different tracks from different POs and then mix them all together with Audacity? Would be great to have an overview of such a process!
Hi Rambling Nerd, thanks so much for this tutorial, no other video explains it so well! I tried using a simple USB to mic cable, and it does work, but the sound is extremely quiet even on max master volume on PO-33. If I increase the volume of the track in Audacity though, it of course comes out with very bad quality. So I guess there is no way to record my composition without this USB audio capture device? For now I'm talking about only recording a track, not doing backup. I'll go get me that device anyway, but was curious anyway about why it's like this. I also hope if it's like this with the simple cable, it doesn't mean I'll have the same problem with the capture device. Thanks again for the video :)
Could this work doing it with a Sony stereo amp system I pôwer my speakers with? It has a mic input, and MD/DAT RCA stereo outputs (and inputs). I use the DAT input to play my music from my computer to my stereo surround system, so I would assume this could work the other way around with the PO33. (reason i haven't tried it is I don't have a PO33 yet, I'm buying one soon)
Followed your instructions to the letter: bought USB capture device, used all your Audacity settings, recorded using the device into Audacity, played back to the PO-33 in receive mode, NO LUCK. The PO-33 never goes from "RCV" to actually receiving the file that's playing back, it just times out after 30 seconds or so and says "ERR". I tried playback using a cable from my PC to the PO-33 with TRS on both ends, as well as the one like you're using, would that make a difference? I've never been able to get the PO-33 backed up, this is a big weakness with these products IMO. Even if I eventually get this to work it reminds me of a similar problem updating the Korg Volca devices' firmware, same hokey audio playback interface. Very frustrating, I know a USB interface adds to the price but I would be willing to pay for that and avoid this hassle and time consumption.
Oh well, there is always a problem with those 3.5mm jacks - some of them have a little longer tips that kicks out one of the channels. For instance I bought 1/8 to 1/4 adapter to plug my 3.5mm headphones to 1/4 headphone output of my elektron model samples and 3 out of 5 of my headphones don't get stereo to them, the other two work fine! The only a way to get backup back is probably to buy a really good 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord and what you need to check also is if you are getting stereo from your computer output.
I don't think that works on this one? If it's one of the gold edition ones I think you have to take a battery out an then hold write and sound while putting battery back in.
That victory horn at the end was perfect. As a brand new PO owner, is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you!
thanks for this man! i was looking for another way to back up my beats without buying an audio interface. its a bit pricey for me right now haha
I’ve been so frustrated trying to figure out how to do this. Finally I come across your video. Huge thanks.

Dude! you're a champion for this video, I had been messing around with my line in for ages before watching this
Glad to be of help!

Glad it was helpful! After a few weeks, it's also nice to pull up old layouts and see what you were jamming to.
Legend thanks for this. Just got my PO-33 and the same audio capture card and it works great!
This is the only useful video I have found on this . Thank you.

But man i cant hear myself jamming. As i play live and dont have the sound programmed on my PO. Any tips how to solve this ?
No link to the audio interface you used? 😔
They have something called google search 😂

Is there a way to back this up to an iphone or android when you're on the go?
Could like add a dongle to usb side of the audio capture card to plug this into my iphone and back it up this way?
No because of drivers

Will this work with an iphone/ipad like the Behringer 202/220? They are sold out everywhere, I will use this if possible!
Thank you!❤
thank you SO much, friend!

I believe you can record with higher bitrate. I'm going to try that as soon as I receive my PO.
thanks a lot!
Maybe connect an Isolator noise reduction

Nice tutorial ! Thanks for the tip
you are on a PC? Do you know if its the same for Mac? I can't no getting a signal.
had to subb!!! thank you for this!! im a po noob! lol cheers!
You can backup a PO-33 for less than $0 just by using your cell phone with audio recording app
You could of done factory reset by removing batteries and get back stock sounds
Why? That wouldn't save any samples or sounds like a backup and restore would?

tysm for this
simply thx😤🤍📈
