This was so beautifully presented. I just planted 12 milkweed plants yesterday to add to my others! I also joined Rosalynn Carters's "Butterfly Trail". Loving nature...
I let milkweed grow and reseed. This year there was a thick patch of it. We had 3 monarchs this summer drinking from zenias. Early September now, i think they ar on way to Mexico now. Hopefully next year there will be more.
Hi! Dominique.... It's an amazing representation of the life cycle of MONARCH BUTTERFLY... .. ..... Seriously, I've never taught life cycle so good before...... I'm glad
This was truly beautiful. I never imagined that the Monarch goes through that extent of transformation and strange machinations. What a lovely creature!
For 2025 I offer you a NEW PROGRAMMING : Two episodes per week SATURDAY=ANIMAL DOCUMENTARY ON THE WILDLIFE OF QUÉBEC,CANADA SUNDAY=OBSERVE WILDLIFE WITH TRAIL CAMS I have set up several trail cameras (motion sensor camera) in different habitats. It is very interesting to be able to observe wildlife with natural behaviors without the presence of a human !
We are surrounded by miracles in nature! The fact the the caterpillar with it's cute tiny little feet turns into a majestic butterfly and grows wings is so amazing! Thank you so much for your dedication making this beautiful video Dominique! 🌱🌎💖🐛🦋
My husband has been cultivating milkweed seeds for years now. He has quite a lot and gifts them to people so there will be more people involved. This year, he built a rather large screen cage with a plexiglass door. He put 3 plants into the cage and we got 7 caterpillars from them. They have all made their chrysalis a few days ago so now we wait... this is the first time that I was able to participate because I have balance issues and couldn’t go in the back yard. Now the box is at eye level and I actually was able to watch a caterpillar finish making her chrysalis. Looking forward to watching them come out! Thanks for the great video!
A very touching life cycle in 4 stages. Plus several generations. The last one knowing exactly where to go for spending the winter and start it again all over in the spring time. A very detailed presentation!!! Great shots!!! Dominique, thank u v.m. Amitiés.
@つくよみゆうと I'm very sorry for offending you, I don't know much about butterflies including this information. I truly didn't know, I'm sorry. If you want I can delete this comment
I found a monarch cocoon. We’ve been watching it for a week. It was green, now you can see the orange and black on the wings. It’s so amazing! It’s September so I never thought we would see one this late in the year!
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤ It is just a magic. From small egg it turn into a colourfull butterfly..... And see how the color change from green caterpillar to a black yellow butterflie........... Magic of God ❤
Thank you for your presentation. I love butterflies and will try to plant a milkweed plant i remember when i was young the milkweed plants and the caterpillars. Very informant and love the music.🦋🦋
Truly a miracle if you ask me! I have 6 in a butterfly pavilion and it's my first time raising and releasing them. I've been checking on the cage like non stop!! One is in the J position and several others look like they will do that soon.
Brilliant piece Dominique. I was taught this whole process when I was about 6 yrs old....it was taught in school. We even had a field trip for it. I remember it, and now, as an adult, I knew/remembered a lot of it, but not all. So, thank you for restoring my knowledge in such a nice way. This information was pretty standard for our schools. I still think this whole process should be taught in all schools in N. America and Canada. It's a very good way to learn something pretty great about how nature works. I have nurtured one Milkweed plant in the back yard to five (I think), specifically for the Monarchs. : )
This is an amazing story of the monarch. I teach 3 rd grade and we raise and release them each fall. I loved the detail, the speed and the care shown. Thank you!!
It's definitely a female looking at the wings... Wow I learned something new.... Now I can definitely differentiate between male and female... Thank you so much ❤️

Thanks for the awesome video! I am actually looking for a video on how caterpillars look or choose for a plant where they can pupate. Can anyone recommend some? 😅 Funny experience I had was, I decided to remove this citrus plant I have from my garden. Then I saw two tiny caterpillars on its leaf which literally stopped me from getting rid of the plant. It would be really fascinating to watch these caterpillars grow and transform, I thought. So I always talked to them at night, when I arrive from work and witnessed the leaves ravenously eaten by them. Few days later, one of them got missing and my husband thought it was probably eaten by a bird 😕 The next day the other one was also gone. I was really devastated 😩 Finally, I googled how caterpillars pupate (though I already know how), then google recommended a certain article saying that caterpillars do not pupate to their host plant! (except those that are incubated or so) What a huge relief for me 😅 I looked at the plant beside my citrus but did not happen to find them 😅 Well, maybe, any time soon I will see them in my garden 😊
Great camera work. I have a video called Monarch Life Cycle 2014. Camera work is not as good, but it's been entertaining to me and my family. We had a great time learning and filming them. My kids' loved learning that Frass is the word for caterpillar poop.
I live in southwest Georgia. I planted a butterfly garden this summer. I of course included milkweed. I have had, for the first time , monarchs in one or more stages of development all winter. I have been able to witness this firsthand for the first time in my life. I am concerned about the freezing temperatures effect on some caterpillars I saw last week. Not to mention the fact that the milkweed is very skimpy right now, with the erratic temps and hungry caterpillars!. Amazing and beautiful. Shared video and photos with everyone, Facebook and most importantly my granddaughter Lily.
What a beautiful, awesome, fantastic , Video it is!!!!!!!😘😘😘😘 & The background music is just like,,the butterfly dancing on it 😂😂 hahahahaha ........ Too good 😘
5:07 I'm lazy, what is that sudden dark blue line that's in the caterpillar here anyone? Breathing tubes? I heard that when the caterpillar goes from hanging like a *J* and after changing into a chrysalis their entire body gets liquified except for some sort of snorkel allowing breathing. I was cool about this until I heard something very nutty but appears to be scientifically true. Here it is: *Monarch Caterpillars* have been tested for a variety of reasons, one of these were experiments (I hate that too btw) was meant to figure out if the butterfly remembers anything as a worm. They do! Seriously, look it up.
This is a year later but it's true thay they remember things they have learned as caterpillars! I raise monarchs and the butterflies tend to be not as, but still scared when touched if they were handled as caterpillars! Even as butterflies they learn! I had to keep one who couldn't fly, I named her Princess, and she actually learned that her bottle cap was her doggy dish and whenever I came to pick her up it mean outside time or food! She was always so excited when I came
We have some milkweed plants and i was keep cutting them, now i shall water those plants and will try to protect the caterpillars too. Thanks to u bro.
10 caterpillars just left my single milkweed plant. I cannot wait for more in the years to come. Would love to help save these butterflies as much as I can
I remember as a 9ish year old Child catching small monarch caterpillars. I would put them in a box, wake up early in the morning to feed them fresh milkweed, and then one, one this one specific attempt, this one Caterpillar made it to become a chrysalis. It was this beautiful light, mint green with a gold gold and silver sparkly lines going across it. Once it was time for it to hatch, I saw the orange wings through before It could pop out. I stayed up until it hatched, picked it up, and waited for atleast two hours for its wings to dry while sitting on the couch. It was a mesmerizing experience. Hah, but I do remember being scared at 5:45 thinking it was exploding and that I did something wrong until my mum explained it.
Have a pupa I found, inside because it was freezing outside and it's at the transparent stage now. Won't be able to see it hatch because leaving for 3-4 days sadly. Have been watching and taking pics daily for a while now. Hopefully my s/o keeps me updated on it
Finally a good video which shows the whole thing 6:53 Other videos don't show the full transformation you don't really see the skin falling in other vids.

Tama ka. Bawat paruparo may kanya kanyang halaman kung saan niya umitlog at maging pagkain ng caterpillar nito.
