i really wish they would send something to you explaining why it got the grade it got, i sent in 3 cards even had the guy at the card shop look at them and even he told me that one of the card i sent in was almost a guaranteed 10 and it got a 7 sent it to beckett got a black label LMFAO, I have a love hate relationship with PSA I really do think the grading is just depending on the person lol.

I grade with psa and bgs and I regrade looks like you didn’t pre grade and actually look at the cards before sending them out I’ve been grading since 2016 and 95% of my cards comeback as 10s because I don’t send everything to get graded

@@PokeRangerMatt I think Matt didn't properly clean the cards before sending. This many 9s for pack fresh cards cannot be explained otherwise.

I agree. I don't run a channel, and everyone should decide for themselves what to send in. For me: #1 Has to be a valuable/special card. #2 Has to be a pokemon or artwork I like. #3 Cost of card + grading has to be less than the market price of what grade I expect.
I also pre grade with honesty, and don't expect 10's. Think it's a 10? Economics better make sense if it comes back a 9 etc. I use Edge centering online tool to check centering. I look at cards under magnification with a loupe. I'm usually pretty accurate with my pre grading this way. In this video, Matt chose a lot of cards (dozens) that I wouldn't have even considered sending in. I can't judge surface or back whitening from this video, but has to be near flawless to get a 10, with good centering. No nicks/indents either.
But he's running a channel and it was an entertaining video, and great selection of cards nonetheless! If $12.99 per card grading includes shipping both ways too, then that makes it easier. I only grade a couple of times a year, 10-20 cards annually. My cost for grading with PSA including shipping both ways is usually around $30-33 per card. Guess I need to watch for deals?

Psa has definitely been cracking down on centering and corners here recently. Just means we gotta be even more pocky before sending off cards
I’ve seen a lot of 10’s come back that say otherwise. I think it just depends. Send out more 10’s to drive more business but then crack down to keep populations low. Hard to know with limited transparency.

I found a pattern in PSA when the value of a card is high for some reason that card almost always grades low and a card that is low value gets a 10 way easier. Talking about modern not vintage
I definitely think they try to keep low populations on high value cards. They will never admit it of course. This submission was during the middle of the 151 blow up so who knows.
Geez I thought a bunch of those were 10s I’m screwed when my submission come back 🤦🏻♂️

I’ve had better success submitting 15-25 cards vs when I’ve submitted 40-50 at once. Also I wouldn’t recommend submitting Japanese with English because the quality is a bit better might make them grade the English in that submission harder.

I have to assume most people aren’t sending in cards for the same reasons I am. I would definitely be a bit more picky if I wasn’t posting videos about it all. I’m sure yours will do great!
God dang looks like you had the JV team grade your cards. Insane especially when they are freshly pulled. I would write them an email with your order number and ask them to review the grader and their tools. Might want to include a link to your video

Saw a bunch of things wrong w the cards… the Zeraora is waaay left.
It could be. I didn’t spend a ton of time with that one. It’s a special memory for the channel so I’m ok with that one for the most part.
Now deduct selling fees and shipping costs. It's not terrible but you're probably a little under break even.
Another way to look at it is collectibles may go up in value. If you're looking to profit, keeping sealed booster boxes between 3 to 10 years is the way to go. More variance and luck with singles. I do a little of both. It's a lot of fun. Just into it about 2 years. Learning a lot and really enjoying so many aspects.

The 8 are tough 😆thanks for testing it out. I'm about to submit my Greninja, it looks perfect but the front is skinnier on the bottom by the tiniest fraction, took me forever to even notice.

Grading is rough. A lot of people forget that one of the most important things is surface scratches that PSA looks for.
That may be the case. Hard to know if I can’t find them and there is no notes unfortunately. I’m more in entertainment than investing. I would not recommend this to most folks.
The one thing hardly anybody sees when the slabs go on and in regular lighting
@@PokeRangerMatt Yeah, I hear you. I never graded a single card because I just think the amount of money it costs adds up a bit too fast for my wallet.
Yeah some of those grades are bizarre. To be honest the Ivysaur that got a 10 looked pretty off centered. But then the 151 Charizard that got a 8 looked pretty good, definitely more centered than the 10 Ivysaur. Just one example lol wish PSA provided explanations for each card’s grade.

Your 151 Zard, - all back corners have whitening, back top edge has whitening, and the right middle has some white dots that may be dust on the slab, not sure. Hope this helps!
May be the lighting but there is no whitening on any corners or edges. I will look for the white dots. Thanks for the solid feedback tho!

Just a question -- do you wipe off your cards or air can clean them at all? My first submission was rough, but then started cleaning them immediately before tab sleeving and in the semi rigid and my grades improved a lot. PSA won't clean your cards and if even like one piece of dust, lint, etc is on the card they'll ding you. These are some awesome cards and maybe worth the resubmit.
I try to be as clean possible. I was definitely more careful with future ones tho.

This is crazy you got a new grader or something. Typically modern does decently well. However scarlet and violet era print quality is a little rough.

Could have put all those cards in a binder and they’d have the same value. Then use the $ you wanted on PSA and bought 2 151 zards in 10s.

Get yourself a bright white desk lamp and look at them closely in different angles. You will be surprised how many imperfections are on many of the cards. Also send in a few that you think would be not 10's so they don't feel like they giving you too many 10's

Tough grades. I got 36 cards coming coming back tomorrow from psa. I usually get about 75% 10 rate. We will see this time i guess.

I do see some weird markings at certain angles on the surface of that 151 Zard.
I’ll take a close look before I decide on sending it in but before i sent it and now after I don’t see anything. My lighting does that sometimes. One time a guy tried to tell me a card was fake, pulled from a factory sealed pack in a factory sealed tin opened on camera. It’s hard to know for sure with no notes from the grader. Definitely possible tho.
I clicked on this video to see if PSA was still pop controlling. Now I know they are. I would recommend people don’t use them until the market dips.

They offer the best premium so it’s hard to go anywhere else.
I use CGC and love it. Great deals signing up and pretty consistent grading that I've gotten back.
Man. I thought I did bad in my last video. I had about 50% gem mint 10. What was your precent?
Low. Especially on ones I thought had real 10 potential. Some just got submitted because I hit them on the channel and other reasons. So I wasn’t shocked at a low percentage but definitely at how low.

Idk I haven’t really had any bad submissions only got like 5 8’s an 5 9’s out of 70 cards submitted for me every one of my cards that were valued 200 to 700 became 10’s

I wanna send my cards to psa but they control the pop of the cards so hard as of this year. I find it funny that you got 10’s on the cheapest ones but the ones that was worth they gave you 8-9’s.

Dude i would definitely resend alot of those cards. I really dont understand how some are 9s or 8s.
I’ve looked closely again at a lot of them and can’t see it. Only thing I could think is they saw a big submission and held it against me maybe. Idk
I never send a bunch in one batch....could get that one person that is having a bad day. I sent 5 per order..... through Gamestop, and I've been getting bette results. I sent 10 once, and 8 came back graded 9s and 8s, and 2 were graded 10. I resubmitted a week later, 5 submissions, and 4 came back 10 and one 9. Those cards were 9 improved to 10, and a 9 stayed a 9. Yes, I did clean the card gently before resubmission. I also used new penny sleeves and a new semi rigid card holder for submission. Took nothing to chance.....only different, unfortunately, is the up charging I got, which is BS to me. A card graded is a card graded..... That's like me having a car wash and charging $20, but since you dive a Lamborghini, I now up charge you $150.00......
Probably will test less cards in submissions in the future. Everything for science here. 🤠
