@@harvey123go4 please don't leave S******h I love catch up on my old town through your videos. Think of the midges in Scotland! The rain! The isolation!
The West coast of Scotland is dramatically beautiful with it's sharp peaks, sea lochs, beautiful beaches & islands. But there is a magic about the Cairngorms that draws me back again & again. I would move to the Aviemore/Nethy Bridge/Boat of Garten area except I would miss my daughters too much & maybe I'm just not brave enough. You could never tire of the Rothiemurchus, Green Loch or the magnificent mountains. Aife gets more adorable with every video. Take care guys x
West is wetter and has more midges so when we moved up from Cumbria a year ago we knew we wanted to be further east. We originally looked at the area around Aviemore but prices were silly as there is competition with the holiday and second home market. We are now happily settled in Pitlochry- a variety of walks, cycles and wild swimming on the doorstep plus good transport links. Does have similar housing problems and like the other tourist areas prices in pubs etc are high but not as high as in the Lakes.
@@gcsScotland Love Pitlochry & Blair Atholl too. Was up Ben Vrackie a couple of years ago - amazing views. Glen Tilt is fabulous too. I'm just the other side of the Pennines from the Lakes & walk there loads in the Summer. Must have been a wrench to leave there but you have moved to a fabulous location. I wish you happiness in Scotland.
Had a great 35 years down there but my wife wanted to return to Scotland and I love the Scottish mountains having explored them for years. It’s been a great first year and haven’t regretted the move at all. So much on the doorstep and places that were 5 - 7 hours away are now much more accessible.
I couldn’t agree more Michael, the granite landscapes of the cairngorm plateau are very special indeed! Like you, family is a massive consideration for us and I’m sure this will be an evolving conversation, but definitely a conversation to be had!
Cairgngorms National Park is beautiful. The trails are inviting. I can relate to how you feel Harvey. It draws you in, wanting more, like a book you don't want to put down. I love the peaceful feeling that comes over me when watching your videos. Enjoyed seeing Aife watching the ducks, & saying bye bye. She's so precious! Really was good seeing you Athena, Harvey, & Aife! 🍀Happy🍀St. Patricks🍀Day!🍀
Oh my goodness...Aife is just the sweetest little girl 💕 Melted my heart when she said " bye bye quack quack " 🥰 Love the idea of having to slow down with a toddler, I think it brings you both a deeper appreciation for the land your exploring. Slowing down is a good thing. Sending best wishes from NYC. Thank you for sharing your adventures, beautiful as always !!!
watching these videos brings back so many happy memories of being outdoors with my three daughters when they were toddlers. backpacking trips were challenging, but you adjust your gear and your expectations and it becomes a wonderful experience. these videos are so beautiful!
Wonderful video! Thank you for this beautiful watch! 🙏🏼 After recently finishing my rounds of all the Cairngorm Munros on my journey to complete the full 284 summits, it is without a doubt that I can easily say that Cairngorms is one of, if not my favourite part of Scotland! Wish you and your lovely family well on your adventures 😊
Great videography! You captured the essence of the place. Wish I could be there. Harvey’s story of his walk in the forest was riveting and Aife is getting more and more adorable. I should also learn to slow down now and then and pause to appreciate what is around me.
Wow, the video, the filming was just exquisite, you are such beautiful people and Oslo of course, I always feel as though I’m there too as I watch your adventures, thank you for sharing ❤️❤️💐
I lived in the Cairngorms for 2 years during my early 20's working on a small farm. I'd love to move back when we have finished travelling in the van. It's magical. The West coast gets all the praise but after a year on the Isle of Mull the Cairngorms still sings to me over anywhere else. Perhaps it's because it feels more wild, less dramatic but it gives me the same wilderness feeling as Dartmoor in a way. Enjoy ☺️
Aww living on a farm in the Cairngorms must of been an amazing experience! I wonder if Dartmoor and the Cairngorms gave a similiar feeling because they are both granite landscapes?
What an incredible opening to this video! The scenery, the music at the morning golden hour. Harvey, how you felt about that moment is how I feel when I’m in the Smoky Mountains. I have such a peaceful feeling when I watch your videos…❤ BTW, move there if you can…
I just watched "Should We Move Here?! // Hiking in the Cairngorms" and I have to say, it looks like an incredible place to visit. The scenery is breathtaking and the hiking trails seem like a great way to experience the natural beauty of the area. I'm not sure if I would move there permanently, but I would definitely love to visit and explore the Cairngorms further. Overall, this video was both informative and inspiring, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in hiking or nature.
Aww thanks so much for the lovely message and the consideration of recommending to friends. The Cairngorms is a fantastic place and I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit!
Enjoyed this SO much. The lovely scenery, and watching more of Aife's development as an outdoor little person. Harvey and Athena, could you have even imagined a couple of years or so ago how you would take so well to becoming parents and adapt so well to including a special little girl in all of your outdoor adventures?
🌳🎶🐦 This video is such a beautiful and peaceful escape to the woods! 🙌🏼❤ Thank you for sharing your adventures with us and reminding us to appreciate the simple things in life. 🌅🏞 Have a great weekend! 😊
There are good opening shots and there are great opening shots. These opening shots were fantastic. I certainly have experienced that early morning, stillness in remote places while on holiday and Harvey’s videography and commentary, not only set the scene, but gave a deep appreciation of the wonderful situation. Oh, and how many times have I been on holiday to similar places I thought I’d love to move there. I usually start looking for properties for sale until I realise that it probably isn’t gonna happen. I always keep in mind, the fact that visiting a location for a short break, it’s not the same as living there, right through all the seasons, especially the winter. There again, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just get on with it. Is Harvey taking bookings for his juggling a toddler act? It’s quite entertaining.
If you miss it after you’re gone, you should pick up a copy of The Cairngorms, Scene and Unseen or The Living Mountain by Nan Shepard - that will bring you right back into it.
Another great clip love watching them the green lochan always amazes me And of course ryvoan bothy by the way lassie it's no lake morlich it's loch morlich aw the best noo keep the good clips up
Its hard in the toddler period for you all to get what you need from adventures - emotionally, physically and financially (because this is also your job as well as your hobby after all). Especially because you are running the channel and that put pressure on you to do a certain kind of 'walk' or 'trip' which may not fit in with young kids. Be easy on yourselves. Remember to give yourselves time and space to do the things you love - even if that means a little bit of solo time. At some point Aife wont want to be in the carrier at all and then a whole new pace will emerge - which I think is what you're saying - it will take a bit of juggling to find how to balance the channel and the needs of your family. If there are places you can go which have good paths - we found a yippeyo cross buggy a good option as my daughter has mobility issues and couldn't walk far at all for a long time. it was easy to hop in and out of which felt less trapping for her, as she also didn't like to be held or be in a carrier. But it is very similar to what you already have in the bike/buggy trailer so may not really be useful to you. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place.
Thanks Cori for the advice! Yes good trails for the buggy is a grand idea. As with everything we’ll just have to see what happens when we get there.. all the best laid plans seem to go straight out the window! All the best and thanks for watching!

sadly thousands of the indigenous people who lived in this area were forcibly removed and their property stolen to create what you now think is a lovely quite place. it is in no way natural.
