These old films are well worth watching. My service in London was from 1960 to 1990. And I enjoyed every moment of it. Some good times, some bad times, but if you played a part is saving one life during your service, it was all worthwhile.

At 1:01 you can see the firemen's uniforms have the logo 'NFS' for the National Fire Service, formed in 1941 to organise and coordinate better war-time fire fighting. The NFS was abolished in 1948 and the fire service passed back to local authority control (county or county borough) but not as fragmented as pre-war.

This is the Fire Station where the the TV Series 'London's Burning' was filmed! Lots of it is very recognisable, eg the staircase, pole drop and the watchroom.
