- This is a Motormouth first Look at the all-new 2024 Lexus TX three-row mid-size luxury SUV based on the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.
The 2024 Lexus TX rides on the same platform as the Toyota Grand Highlander and there are certainly similarities, but Lexus gave the 2024 LexusTX its own look with a unique grille Lexus is calling Unified Spindle.
There are three powertrain options, two are electrified. The 2024 LexusTX 350 has a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Estimated combined fuel economy is 11.2L/100 km, 21 MPG. In the US, FWD and AWD options are available, Canada standard AWD.
The 2024 Lexus TX 500h is going to be available only as an F Sport Performance model which is shown in the pictures. It has a 2.4L turbocharged hybrid powertrain with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 366 horsepower and 409 lb-ft of torque. DIRECT4 AWD is standard. The estimated combined fuel economy is 9.8L/100 km, 24 MPG. This is the same hybrid system that’s in the RX 500h but the TX offers 1 less horsepower than the RX 500h but 3 lb-ft more torque. Comparing it to the Grand Highlander Hybrid Max with the same powertrain, the TX has an 4 extra horsepower and an extra 9 lb-ft of torque.
Finally, there’s the 2024 Lexus TX 550h+ with a 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain, it’s matched to a CVT and has a combined 406 horsepower. Lexus says, the estimated combined fuel economy should come in around 7.8L/100 km, 30 MPG and an estimated EV range of 53 km/33 miles.
Overall length of the 2024 Lexus TX varies depending on the model you choose with the gas and plug-in hybrid at 203.1” and the hybrid 203.5”, this is about 2” longer than the Grand Highlander. Overall width is 78.3”and height 70.1”, which is exactly the same as the Grand Highlander.
Overall cargo space is slightly less than the Grand Highlander at 97 cubic feet. Space behind the second row at 57.4 cubic feet and behind the third row at 20.1 cubic feet which is also slightly less than the Toyota but can still fit 7 carry-on suitcases just like the Grand Highlander.
Although third row measurements have not been released yet for the TX, we expect them to be very similar to the Grand Highlander which offers 33.5” of legroom and can fit an adult
comfortably.
The 2024 Lexus TX will be exclusively assembled at the Indiana plant which is the first Lexus vehicle to be assembled there. Pricing has not been announced yet. The 2024 Lexus TX 350 and 500h will hit
dealerships this fall. The 550h+ the plug-in hybrid is expected to go on-sale at a later date which hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Dear God Lexus models are getting very ugly. Keeping my handsome and aggressive Lexus GS F V8 forever.
Ugly? Wierd taste..
WTH is wrong with the front end?
Similar to the new RX. Ugly!
Front end proportions are terrible…maybe it’s the lighting
Reminded me of The Matrix scene when Keanu Reeves' mouth is stitched .
Its the color
Lovely video as always but I'm quite disappointed with this car. It's just not upscale enough and could hardly be called a flagship. People wanted something that takes on the X7, GLS & Range
Good review, but don’t stand in front of the car when you’re introducing it…really?
Disappointed that Lexus did not differentiate this more from the Grand Highlander. Let's face it, it's a dressed up Grand Highlander.
Clearly a dressed down Grand Highlander.
Thats what they all say, but isnt a q2 a dressed up t-roc, an RDX a dressed up CRV
I like the 550h+
@@8xus_1 You get to choose. Gotta ask yourself what you're getting for the price. Like the carsalesmen often say, if it works for you, that's all that matters.
@@8xus_1 the difference is that those are dressed up and this one is dressed down.
They should just have sliding doors to make a minivan as an option for those who want it for younger children.
Underwhelming exterior looks unfinished even to me.
Interested but give me finished vehicle with pricing; too much diva drama with this release!
I'm just going to say it... Grand Highlander looks better
Absolutely and the difference between this and a top trim grand highlander is very small. You gain a couple extra power things and lose the passenger seat shelf. Why pay so much more for a Lexus badge
Agreed
Agreed x2. I look forward to Andrea and Zac's comparison video.
Disagree, the TX looks straight from the future
100% agree!
Very nice! Lexus TX has NO Triple LED headlights!?!? That is a big missing feature for a luxury model! Rather pick the Grand Highlander!
I don't love the look. I miss the angular aggressive look
Idk, the new lexuses are hella aggressive
GX looks great, TX is the first Lexus minivan.
Probably the lowest effort car Lexus came out with in my opinion. It's clear they minimized costs by making the front almost identical to the grand highlander. Furthermore, apart from the wheels ,slightly redesigned rear bumper, and seats there is literally no difference between the F-Sport and non F-sport visually.
Side doors are also the same as the Grand Highlander too
The thing is, it doesn’t even look better or more upscale than Grand Highlander. What is the point of the extra cash.
If it had a visible c pillar, would resemble dodge Durango from side.
I expect your eventual review will highlight the obvious, but this looks like a low-effort badge engineering exercise from Toyota. I'm sure they did their market research, but nothing about this crossover looks particularly upmarket. It seems like what to get if you want a Mark Levinson audio system in a Grand Highlander.
You mine as well get the GH top trim. Doesn't even look like a Lexus
Lexus Texas?
tx 350 does it require premium fuel?? how many adjustments for front passenger seat??
Hello, Great review! I have some questions 1) Is there accent lighting (8 diff lighting modes or temperature colors similar to what competitors offer) 2) Any entertainment option for 2nd, 3rd row? e.g. Similar to Toyota Sienna 3) Does it take regular gas or premium 4)That exterior light looks so underpowered and gimmicky and assuming there is no triple beam option available, will it be able to provide sufficient lighting on highways ? Does it go up down and left right to provide turning coverage?
Very incognito colouring in this review Andrea. Looks very smooth car too from all angles!
We didn't get to spend a lot of time with the vehicle but at first glance it looks good. I like that Lexus is offering more interior colour options too.
@Andrea Spencer Most definitely agree there, great spec and interia trim. I think cars these days are getting so comfortable and luxurious, business trips over night isn't a problem with overnight bathroom bag and hair gel at the ready lol
Is the 3rd row same size as GH?
I like grand highlander design better but looks good.
Me too it looks more cohesive
Would you buy this or grand highlander?
Does the TX 550H+ Plug in Model offer 7 Seats ?
That grille 😖
Yes it blows chunks.
Lexus haters being unreasonable:
i placed a deposit for the 550h+ when will you guy be getting a tester any ideas?
Nice job introducing this Toyota Highlander with a Lexus badge on it. Toyota seems to find a formula to tweak all their product lineup into Lexus badge for much bigger profit margin. small as LBX(Yaris), big as LX(Land cruiser) and everything in between. Not much tech innovation esp gas consumption is high even with the PHEV. A big SUV like that with CVT?
The high-end Toyota Highlander Hybrid trim price tag just, barely, stops where Lexus models prices start off. Toyota employees sometimes refer to it as a “Baby Lexus”. If I had a choice between the top trim of the Grand Highlander Hybrid & the more powerful & better fuel economy Lexus TX Plug-in Hybrid, I’d choose the Lexus. Also, the Highlander Hybrids, larger three row vehicles, have had CVTs for many years now and perform quite well, (though their reputation is that the CVTs aren’t as reliable).
After spent up all the design budget on the handsome GX, they gave the janitor a mop to finish the TX design on the bathroom floor.
The front end looks terrible...maybe they could have shifted the color of the grill.
Prefer the big spindle grill to whatever the hell the front of that is
Lexus fans being unreasonable:
Maybe it's just that awful colour, but it looks boring and bland to me.
I think I like the grand highlander look better.
There is actually some good value with the Grand Highlander and plenty of powertrain options. For those who want the Lexus premium brand, the TX will fit the bill.
I’ve been waiting for this one.
toyota and lexus did good job still like 😊
I know some don't like the front grille but that is one part I like.
@@andreaspencer9813 ikr, this thing is a beast and it’s already got hate
@@8xus_1 So much hate!
Can anyone explain to me why the hybrid only can achieve 24 mpg combined while grand highlander can do 34 mpg combined?
The 34mpg is out of the GH is the 350h, while the 24 mpg out of TX is the 500h. Equivalent GH max hybrid got 27mpg.
I think this uses a V6 hybrid which the GH doesn’t have.
This is probably the TX’s only selling point then. It’s way too similar to the GH to sell well imo.
There is no normal/efficiency focused hybrid in the TX. There is a hybrid Max variant--TX500h. The hybrid max only gets up to the high 20s in mpg.
Why a CVT???
What about seat configuration? Is any variants comes with 8 seats?
Nope 6 and 7 seat only
I WILL CHECK IT OUT TONIGHT
Those are $6k headlight units a piece if they ever need replacing
Wanna see you review the new GX
Price
The main difference could be the sound proof.
That was excellent. Y’all are good❗️
Highland with lexus logo
This looks like a Lincoln Aviator and a Nissan Pathfinder had a baby and they just didn’t know what to call it!
This has to be the smoothest looking Lexus SUV ever. I feel more relaxed just looking at it … less so in that F/Sport trim and those oversized black wheels. But check the right colour option boxes and you’ve got one elegantly styled SUV. Mind you… after just watching your new GX video minutes ago… ANYTHING would. Great work Lexus. Thanks for the video. .
NAWW Lexus wrong for this front end the new NX and RX were pushing it a bit but this this makes me want to eat Tide pods
Does the 3rd row have as much leg room as a UX or is it smaller? Seems everyone complains about the UX's legroom but you said this was okay for an adult. It looks small to me.
I saw a another video, someone at 6’ sat comfortably in the 3rd row.
@@jml9550 Thanks.
Great another vehicle Toyota won’t have any inventory of and dealers can markup the few they get.
I wish we knew possible starting price. Does it have 12 way seats with thigh extender?
Ohh dont worry, with the msrp and dealer add-ons you'll pay close to $60k or over that.
CVT transmission is reason enough to look elsewhere!
Wow, thank you for letting Canadian knew about this GS , is this a Prado in Japan? Really looking for your video for new 4 Runner, hope they will still included a portable cool box in the trunk in their Trail edition (base version). Good video and already shared at facebook of mine.
From the side it looks like a refreshed Dodge Durango
Tx gonna take premium gas?
Highlander everyday!! Same car cheaper price!!
For me TX all day every day. Especially on the PHEV. $10-15k won’t make a difference to me when I am spending $65k already.
Not feeling the grill and the light. The lights look too corolla.
Exactly 20 years ago the T-800 terminated the TX
Call me crazy, but I’d get the Grand Highlander over this
x2 cost/benefit, definitely
Great review thanks❤
Thanks for watching!
Finally !!! Toned down the front grille……..looks great ! 👍
I think it sucks. And I own a Lexus
Toyota and their animated sea creature design language strikes the grill again.
Not really thrilled about the exterior design elements. When compared to other Lexus models it looks rather plain. The Grand Highlander actually looks more impressive.
Looks like mini van
Looks like honda pilot 2018, not sure if lexus is still living in a decade back era. May be somone pulled up their 15 years old designs and tried to sell to publi . I own a LX and a GX i was looking for PHEV so i can upgrade but they will die before giving you something worthy.
The difference between GH and TX, is just like Nissan Pathfinder vs Infinity QX60.
To compete with acura mdx ,x7 and q7 i see this car but looks like minivan category and not a suv look. Lexus couldnt expand the rx and i think they dont want ro spoil the rx look
Rear end looks like a Aviator
Nice walk around.
Looks very nice 😊
Wait, so hybrid is only going to be available as F-Sport??? That is moronic.
For the TX, you want the 500h+ for the MPG. For the GH, you want the XLE Hybrid. The Hybrid Max and 500h is just a money grab.
Weird looking face… the GH looks better 😅
Wao it's so cool
Whoo ! The dashboard looks like a airplane dashboard Pilot control. 😆 Not bad vehicle ho. I am glad hey are bring the hybrid. 👍🏻👍🏻 Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
Lexus design peaked with the LS
You are the best , in your opinion which one is better GX or TX ? Thanks again and I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Draw, both just amazing
Depend on what you need. TX is more comfortable ride and fuel effectively and usable 3 row. GX is definitely more off road capable but fuel Econ at 17MPG is not that impressive.
Boss style.
Another 4cylinder… I’m shocked. I’m looking at the Lexus now and I’m trying to figure out if the 4cy is different across each model. But now these are stating to have a CVT transmission ? Oh no! I felt Infiniti was going down hill for this reason.
It's an eCVT in the plug-in hybrid only. ECVTs are the most efficient and they are bullet-proof.
Cool thank u guys
I though corona is over this lexus put mask on this vehicle 😷
I'll take a V8 powered Yukon.... perhaps Denali
1st time ive ever been disappointed in lexus. Wth is this
The rear doesn't match the front...
Looks kind of like a Chevy
Did Lexus outsource front grill design work to toddlers? Or did Lexus run out of money when designing the front grill? Great job Lexus for making the front grill look ugly as hell. Overall don't feel luxury enough to be a Lexus. Grand Highlander looks better so why pay a premium for virtually same car. Also very odd to only have max 6 seats with such a huge car?!! Is this so called family hauler? What a disappointment!
Hi Guys, how do you compare this with Mazda CSX 90 inline or PHEV , which one do you think is a better option comparing GH, TX and CX 90, You have driven Grand highlander and CX 90 . Please suggest, thanks
If you don’t need the 3rd roominess, CX90 is the best choice. My choice would be TX PHEV but it is pro in the $70K+ range.
Thanks
What about grand highlander if you compare with cx 90?
@@FRauf-n4r again it comes down to 3rd row seats. For me if I was buying a large SUV for my wife, it will be the GH hybrid Limited, it’s 3rd row seats should be identical to the TX. I love the MPG and my wife is not driving fast. If money is not an issue, I would go with the Lexus TX500H F Sport, which should have similar performance as the CX90, with much better third row seat and a Luxury brand.
GH or TX is just about the space or GH really competes in driving gmdynamics and power of CX 90, esp Phev version?
More $65K+ USD cars, yeah!
If it's built North America It's not the original 💯🙌 Japanese built quality... 😮 It's a simple Toyota wraps in leather 3X the price 💲💵💰
I really really dislike that grill. It might be better in the flesh but it doesn't work in my opinion.
3 Row SUV.... Minivan... who can tell?
I thought my RX350 was ugly!
I know the pricing. It's an arm, and a leg.
I remember when Lexus first came out in 1989 with the LS. All Lexus would have their unique engine that won't be shared with other Toyota vehicles. Whatever happened to that? All I see now is dressed up Toyota that cost more.
BMW and MB started to make all their vehicles look alike, inside out. Japanese automakers learned this SB from the Germans….
I've been waiting for the new models to come out to purchase a newer car. Still driving my nearly 300K miles and counting 2010 highlander and my 102K miles and counting 2015 NXt Lexus. I am not sold on the looks-maybe will like better in person. It looks boxie which IMP is similar to the 2010 but a smoother front end with a fleetwood slammed into a brick wall grill. Disappointing :(
You might find the Grand Highlander more rugged looking and more appealing in design. I like the Lexus TX rear light bar, but the front TX is too subtle. I like a more bold grill like my wife 2024 NX350H and my 2017 ES350.
Grand Highlander looks much better
DISAPPOINTING. From side this looks almost a wagon. Minimal effort, cosmetic changes, maximum profit. I would rather buy Grand Highlander.
Finally. Finally. Lexus has a proper premium 7-seater SUV in this segment.
Too bad it's ugly AF
I really think they shouldve kept the Rx L as well, here in the UK they are 2 completely different levels of size
Very disappointed about the front end and headlight design. The Grand Highlander looks much better in my opinion. This looks more like a minivan which is what families are trying to avoid.
grand highlander looks much better in my opinion and i’m sure it will be a lot cheaper so good news for me :)
For those who prefer a Lexus and that premium badge, this will fit the bill.
@@andreaspencer9813 you’re probably right. my first experience with a lexus was testing the new rx500h and it was underwhelming from a luxury standpoint. definitely on the same level as acura or infiniti. i expected more because some people mention it in the same breath as the germans and it’s not even close. i’d put it below genesis and volvo too.
i thought tx like sequoia
That exterior looks nothing original or scream Lexus, looks like they just stole elements of other car makers and paste them together.
The Grand Higlander looks better.
CX90 signature or PHEV over this any day.
test drive those already, not as advertised. order the TX 550h+ instead.
Sure if you don't intend to use the 3rd row often
@@Justmejbful Or ever... I test drove both versions am very disappointed in the Canadian versions
