Another lovely video of my home town, thank you David. There was a road that ran up from the old town centre and then split in two, with each side passing beneath a railway bridge. On the other side of the right hand bridge, there was an embankment, covered in coke from where the steam locos raked out their fireboxes, we would climb up there and walk towards to the west where there was an old railway turntable where we would play for hours . When it was time to go home for tea, we would slide down that sooty embankment and go home black.
Hi David, love your video and Rember the station before it’s change. I was born in Basingstoke after the war and parents emigrated in the 60s. I have always loved steam trains and remember too playing at a river near Basing that had a train viaduct over it. Do you know if it is still there...have many fond memories catching tidlers with my brother.
Shame the glory of the Great Western Hotel can't be resurrected. Unfortunate that it is on the wrong side of the tracks. Also can someone please get the station clock fixed!?

Amazing how you can turn wonderful old buildings into the soulless modern functional monstrosities we have today.
I've watched all of your Basingstoke videos and think you've done a brilliant job. Thanks a lot Dave. Regards, Steve Woodcock, an old Charleys boy.
Thanks Steve, very much appreciated!
Great video Dave. I like the music too. Thanks very much.
