  • Nope, Denmark isn’t the happy dream world you guys thought it was!
Many Americans move to Denmark once attracted by the high-paying jobs and the high-quality lifestyle.
But after staying there for a while, they decide to leave, and several factors like social rigidity and high costs make them regret that they ever moved there in the first place.
Curious to know what these reasons are? Let’s dive into it.

What do you mean he does not know? I am Danish, and he was merely stating facts. Not saying anything particularly bad, but simply saying that Denmark and the culture here might not be for everybody. Danes are so used to thinking we are so amazing and a better place to be than everywhere else, so if some point out that everybody might not feel that way, the Danes become really mad.

NOBODY pays 53% in income tax in Denmark as first mentioned the average tax payed on income is 34% , the income tax is around 37-40% but then everybody has automatic personal tax deduction there are none without deductions, top rate tax is 15% extra but that is only payed for amounts earned above around 100,000 dollars a year, meaning 37% on earnings from the tax deduction up to 100.000 and after that 15% extra on the rest, but you cant say 53% on all because that is not the case at all , there are however lots of tax on cars, food, energy ect,

It's hard for Americans, or anyone to imagine freedoms they haven't experienced. When a population loses freedoms over time they get used to it. Freedoms in the USA are under attack, TODAY.

I think there’s some confusion between a society’s liking for order and rules on one hand and freedom on the other. But really they are not mutually exclusive. So possibly the Scandinavians generally have this, likewise the German speaking nations plus Holland. But a German ( for example) will naturally comply with all sorts of rules that are imposed upon him by local government or his landlord or just through social convention. But for all that Germans are really a free people. What counts anywhere is that you can speak your mind, complain, navigate your way through life and vote out the government if you don’t like it. It’s also about being free to impose rules that are sensibly arrived at. Or not if your society prefers liberties to rules. Whatever. And besides most countries have rules that seem odd to outsiders and completely normal to the locals. As for the danish drinking tendency I think I could go along with that!
