I actually love how even with no clipping and all these exploits Charles is just so much of a beast that he will not leave you alone even when you try to banish him to the void.

There should be an update where Charles will retreat when getting enough headshots in the beginning. Then Eugene would ride along with us but could die at any point if Charles approaches the train and started attacking.
Maybe you could make it so you need to fight of charles until you get to the bridge, at which point he would be safe & even with his son. You could make an achievement for it and everything
There should be an achievement for keeping Eugene alive like the achievement in Black Mesa for carrying the hat through the game. You can obtain this by first running off wherein Eugene will spout some dialogue like "You're ditching me?! I can't do this alone!". Then finding the flamethrower guy and getting the flamethrower. Once you do that you go back then do the scene with Eugene but because you have the flamethrower you're able to hold off Charles juuuust long enough to escape. Once you do that then Eugene can make it to a safe refuge but will always come with you on the train. This means you can't take too much damage or Eugene will die. Once you beat the game Eugene will meet his son again and you get the achievement "No Soldier Left Behind" Of course this would be absurdly difficult but highly rewarding.

Theory: The eggs aren't from Choo Choo Charles. The eggs are from Gus the Bus, as there is a note talking about him, and in the church a note says "Snake VS. Spider (spiders have more legs usually)" as Gus might be a snake bus, and snakes lay eggs. Spiders also lay them, but they look different from the eggs in the game, Charles probably protects the eggs because he fears Gus and he believes Gus will come if the eggs are destroyed.
Final boss fight is pretty tough even when you are not trying to save Eugene. There's a rapid-action anti-tank rifle called Bob that deals massive damage and prevents Charles from coming near the train, that I used with Bug Spray and Boomer to finally beat Charles.
I find it interesting that the first time Hell Charles killed Eugene 8:58, Charles did the animation where it attacked Eugene and started to run away but then came running back to the train. I think that when Eugene dies a code makes it so any Charles goes to the body and attacks it. Still a great video!
A little unknown tip about the flamethrower is that if you watch the trailers for this game, you learn you can actually shoot the ground and leave a trail to hurt charles, even if you couldn’t reach him

Fun fact. The train isn't actually part of Charles's body. Its actually his armor. Basically his backstory is this: Miners are mining in the mineshaft,and trying to grab the eggs. But Charles attacked them. But the miners were armed. So they shot Charles. But then Charles did something they never thought he would ever do. Take over the red train. And he did this because he knew the train would protect him from their weapons. And killed them all. And that's his backstory.
One thing that actually touched my heart in this video, is that, Hopes and Dreams is actually playing in the background, my man is literally determined (pun intended) to save eugunes live.
I really want there to be a remake of this game down the line with a lot more content, polish, and mechanics created because it’s a great combination of interesting lore and meme silly game. I can see Eugene being sackable in a future version and I hope you get credited for your efforts if that happens.
I think there should be a slightly alternate ending for Choo-Choo Charles for people who managed to save Eugene. I know Eugene 9 out of 10 times is supposed to be scripted to die, but I think the creators should be wary of that 10th time. This also makes me want to see a version of this game where you're able to branch out more during gameplay, even at the start of the game before you meet Eugene. Depending on how far you are in the game before formally introducing yourself to Eugene, Eugene will have different things to say. This will include how many confrontations you had with Charles and the durations of each encounter.
@@emmuzboosh As a matter of fact, a speedrunner/youtuber called AstralSpiff found a way to save Eugene by abusing bugs in the game, he gets Charles out of bounds and collects scraps, upgrades his train and finds ways to finish the main story without Eugene taking any damage. I had to go before I saw him finish it but I have a feeling he was successful lol.
Eugene was the best Character when I seen other play that game, as much as it disappoints me that he died in the game and we did avenge his death at the end, I'm glad that you found a way to save him ^^
