This is one of the most unique podcast I've ever come across. I love aircraft of all types, and the diversity of it and the pilot's perspective is unmatched.
I when back and watched the pitching deck episodes trying to find you and I think I saw your 15 mins of fame...LOL THe PBS Carriers documentary was great and really enjoyed it, and CATCC Sue was one of the most memorable sailors of that series...! Great show lots of inside info of carrier flight opts...!
Great to hear and see you again Susan! I'm one of those who watched Carrier on PBS and then found it available on Apple TV. Episode 7 - Rites Of Passage - Second Half: Pitching Deck. Y-O-W-S-E-R!!! There was that one aviator who said he just wanted to find a corner and have his aneurism. Meanwhile you were sending doses of positive vibes. Great Work!!! Blue skies!!! "History makes you smart, heritage makes you proud."
Thank you SUE! Like most say, pilots, nfo’s and aircrew get the glory. But they can’t get anything done if the planes aren’t fixed, fueled and deconflicted. Thank you for an entire adult life making flight safe and expeditious.
Love your pod cast! Its good to see that another SHWFOTShrike make good after service. I was with 94 when we transitioned from the A-7 to F/A-18's...good memories connected with the Mighty Shrikes. We crossed the line in '84 an my wog to shellback experience was vastly different than that shown in the show...goes to show that its just no longer our Navy anymore!
Thank you for bringing us this entertaining and informative episode of your podcast. I am sorry to hear that you have to step back from making podcasts as I have enjoyed all of your contributions, good luck and best wishes to you Boat.
Happy birthday to your mom, Jello. Goodnight Sue, (can't help but think of the Waltons who did that whole bit. Man I'm old). This was just grand. What an insight to a world very few of us know about, even those of us who've been on ship, (I was a maintainer with VF-142, USS Eisenhower, '83-'86). I enjoyed this very much.
For those unfamiliar with the PBS series "Carrier" here is a clip of an episode with the two stars: Jello is at 2:40 and "CATCC Sue" is at 4:34 ruclips.net/video/4Ki8Ji4HQVU/видео.html
BOOOAAATT!! look after yourself mate!!..we'll miss ya and maybe when you're through the scud you're flying through, you might pop back to do a show for us. Look after #1 (you and yours) and be chill!
Great episode, back in my simming days on Janes F-18 & MS Flight Sim, the "squadron" I was in, we would do carrier quals and people would take turns being the CATC and I found it a lot of fun. Even listening to our local military ATC you can learn so much.
Super interesting stuff, i work as an atc in the czech republic, being a landlocked country with no seashore id love to get on the carrier tower and see how that works. thanks for the podcast
Hello Mr. Aiello. Thank you for your podcast. I am sure you are aware of the heroics Ukrainian fighter pilots are performing right now. Almost a month in and still they go out night after night against insurmountable odds to lay their life on the line to protect the safety of their people. Modern jets clashing on this scale is unique. I understand you don't want to get into current political situations on your podcast but I am desperately looking forward to the episode I'm sure you will make it about it one day. Again thanks for all the work you do!

As a prior USAF air traffic controller this answered a lot of questions about how the navy gets it done at sea. Great episode!
What a great interview! Sue did a great job breaking it down. CATCC FTW!

So true!
Great job, Sue from a fellow AC LDO (retired). My favorite person to sit beside of during annual ATC Leadership Symposiums....she'll know lol.
Very cool episode. I find myself going back every so often and watching that pitching deck segment. Everyone definitely earned their money that night!
Fond memories of watching this series back in the day. Great interview Jell-o

LOL, I saw that and I swear my initial thought was, did Reba Mcentire join the Navy??? Love the energy she brought
Hah!
Great episode! I had just started re-watching Carrier when you dropped this episode. You both looked SO young! Keep up the good work!

First time I've seen this channel, I am former CATCC on CVN-73 from long ago.
Hello!
I wonder what gas prices are for airplanes and jet fighters?

7:22 the Alamo D is a fairly long range IR missile, given a decent budget that would be a candidate for a long range IR/Data link midsole

Got it.
What is meant by “centre”?
I’m not an aviator but don’t think the term is used in Europe
What was the context in which “centre” was used?
@@FighterPilotPodcast as in I think it was “Newark Centre” or some other airport/city
