Our Pattie lived to 16, he was around when we had both our girls, he let them crawl all over him without a grump. Brilliant dog. Broke our hearts when he died
My son has a patterdale, around 16 now, suffering a bit from old age and a touch of arthritis but still fit and ready for walks. My son has been through some tough times and Jeb has been a huge support for him through those times.
There is no filling the boots of David Attenborough..I just hope that other bloke doesn't get it,with the puffa anorak and blow dried hair...David Attenborough's voice is therapeutic and calming, the other bloke's high pitched grating tone is just not the same...They need someone like Stephen Fry, Michael Portillo etc,the voice is why the programmes are so popular. Mind you the filming is also pretty far out there as well..I'm guessing its not a part -cracked secondhand GoPro 7 camera like I use....
@@TAFishing Honestly, you could film your videos on a calculator and I wouldn't care less. You're a treasure mate. I caught the fishing bug far too late, roughly when I was 21. I quickly came across your channel on RUclips and I've been following you ever since. I'm 27 now, and I still get the same sense of joy and inner peace from your videos that I did when I first started watching you. Not only that, but you're a genuinely funny guy, as well as being genuinely genuine! Keep doing you, Graham.
Great stuff as usual Graeme, been a long time viewer and subscriber, maybe eight or so years, but have never left a comment. Would be great if you could produce a list of artists and tracks at some point, but I respect that you're a busy man. Hungarian wire haired Vizsla - lovely in the home and brilliant in the field - a proper dog for everyone - can’t take em fishing though as they love to go after each and every cast!

I loved that Graeme. My Daughter asked me at 6pm "Dad can we watch Mr Pullen" I told her I was waiting for your new video to come out at 7pm, so we've both just watched it. I have just had my 18 yr old Patterdale put down last wk.. gutted..I've had Patterdales for over 30 yrs and love them.. great dog can be head strong but great companions..
Cor the mention of Tundry Pond bought back some happy memories from the sixties, talking about halucinating, I was with a friend, driving back from a long session at Dengemarsh, early hours of the morning and my mate said in a dead calm voice, " I think I'd better stop for a while" Why says I ? "I've just seen two trees walk across the road" says he.
When you see something every day for 14/16 years (or more) and finally realise the end game is nigh its mortifying...I rate a good dog higher than many people I have met,and I joke not. Incredibly loyal and unquestioning...a far cry from many in the the human race.
Our Patterdale was the best dog we ever had. Fantastic character, really good house dog, but very active when out walking…..always on the hunt. Living in the countryside, rats are always a problem…..not in our garden!
My current dogs are my faves… maltese-yorkshire terrier mix; colloquially called “morkies”; hypoallergenic, non-shedding, adorable and affectionate! Yes, and a bit yappy.
Great video Graham. Did, that, years, ago. Week long fishing trips, with the, guys. Up all night every night. New venue every day. 3rd day in. Night fishing with starlights. They all start dancing. Wo trippy man 😂😂 and green in site. 🎉
When we were kids we would make bobbins out off corks . At the bottom we had a screw so you could add washers or take off . At the top we put a hair clip upside down so the line could pull through . I painted mine orange and attached a shoe lace at the bottom attached to bank stick so it didn’t fly off !! Happy days

Paterdale ..Tenacious , fearless and loyal , cracking working terriers , good earth dogs and demons on a rat .We had a couple of them over the years on the farm , one smooth and one broken coated both lived to work .They also have an uncanny ability to be able to sleep within inches of a roaring log burner …proper terriers with all the attributes and attitudes of a good working terrier ..edited to say my broken coated one was one of the best stalking/ tracking dogs I’ve owned , absolutely faultless .
My Stenchound was a Patterdale / Lakeland cross. A real killing machine. If he caught a squirrel or Coney he would eat it! Unless you get too him quickly. The wee bugger caught a fallow dear dawn by the leg one day. The hind was butting him but he never let go til I arrived and called him off. The name? He stunk! So he was an 'old English Stenchound, to anyone that asked what breed he was. Hair like a toilet brush.
Graeme. Very popular dogs with farmers now, is a Paterdale, Jack Russell cross, known as a Paterjack. Might be a dog for you! I have a Parsons Jack Russell and visited Swimbridge, a village about 10 miles from Barnstable last year, where the Reverend John (Jack) Russell lived 1820-1880 as parish priest. He was a hunting fanatic and bred the longer legged Jack Russells to run with his hounds. Hence the name Parsons Jack Russell. Keep up the good work. Like many, I enjoy your videos immensely.
I have heard of that breed of doggo, you are right they need lots of exercise , never a dull moment not prone to breeding inherited diseases. Very lively full of beans. They love their owner.
A good night's sleep does become more of a priority the older you get..but I don't mind getting woken up by a fish screaming the reel. I'm just a bit slower fighting my way through the sleeping bag to get to the rod now.
There was a guy that caught some monster Perch from there, down the Canal end by trees,I think he had them to 4 ?..it was in the Angling press at the time (45 years ago ?)
Everything moving? I know the feeling well, when we did military exercises in Germany in the seventies, two or three days constantly on the move, no sleep, hardly any food, dig a foxhole, sweating your tabs off and as soon as it was dug, ordered to fill it in, and move on again! Everything seemed to move in the dark, except for your bowels, hectic movements followed by the order to stand to, and as your eyelids got heavy, the order came to move on again!🤭Like you say, 'that's the nature of the beast'👍Another nice vid, loved the Patterdale too, hope your wife's knee is well on the mend now!👍

@@Codeagles1100% agreed. TAF fishing show was always my FaV fishing channel and his tutorials helped me when I started fishing back in 2013, I'm loving the vintage videos specially as they are so educating on how to catch Marlins and Tarpon etc. That knowledge will actually help me catch those fish when I set out for it.
Really enjoyed that one. Love your fishing room. Thinking I might turn part of my garage in to something like that. And I have loads of old pallets to make a start on the shelving!
Nice one mate really enjoyed this, I hope to get out soon, but like you always busy, and my full time job, and photo groups, not much chance yet, all the best mate.
Great little terriers the Patterdale, I had a friend who had one that she entered into terrier races and she had quite the collection of rosettes. I have a Parsons and the build on the Patterdale seems much more stocky and solid.
It happened to me once on the canal a hallucination, i was fishing for around 5 hours, the water had a constant ripple on it from the wind, i was obviously staring at my float for a while. When i pack up i looked down the canal path with over hanging trees, and everything was moving at once like a wave pattern. I had to sit back down for a bit 😂
I have had it several times years ago, especially when Tench fishing all night in a boat, seemed worse at dawn with the trees wandering around against the horizon...The things we go through for fish eh ....
@@TAFishing haha, brilliant 🤣 i thought the same thing when i was shore fishing the other week, sat in the wind and rain with a really rough sea, watching my rod tip for bites. I thought what on earth am i doing here, but laughed it off and enjoyed it 🤣
i have a patterdale! You're right, Not for the inexperienced dog owner but if you can handle them they are the most loyal and rewarding dogs. Mines a red smooth haired, they come with top coats also which is a scruffy looking Curly top coat designed to keep them warm while working in the lake-district. Amazing dogs but if you think Jacks were hard work you should probably stear clear :)
Classic sleep deprivation! There is a funny side but we all must be so careful. I have sleep apnea which thankfully is now treated and I am fine but before I used to be exhausted and I'm telling you folks tiredness can kill!
On our second Patterdale. First one was curly haired and like a little human, so placid and understood everything. This one is smooth haired and total opposite. Hair trigger reactions, doesn't like bigger dogs and wagons, no recall whatsoever, doorbells, knocks at the door etc. An absolute nutter
when the shooting syndicate let their first batch of pheasants out i had 6 for tea- the first of hundreds. i used to make chains from their wing tabs and leave them scattered about.
Whippet for me .had mine 15 years absolutely broke me when he went.he was a pure blue pup so called him bluey then proceeded to turn fawn 😂made me look a right pillock .but that was the only way he did he was a gem.
I think I have a boat film left unused in the files, but its a man alone on the 50 year old clinker built wood boat with a single diesel outboard..a part of history.
Nice video Graeme 🎣👍🤟. Siberia Husky totally loyal + defenses, when camping out here in Canada 🇨🇦. Will warn you about predatory animals ( bears, cougars, Coyotes, wolf's . I wouldn't go fishing after spring. Without my fishing buddy Toni 🐕.
Patterdales are amazing little dogs mate. Funny, full of character, not as nuts as a Jack, comical like a mini Lab. Intelligent. My last dog was a Chocolate Lab called Douglas. He was faithful and funny and could sniff out a biscuit hidden in brambles over 100 yards away doing his sniffing like a hoover.
Yes Graeme Patterdale terriers are great little dogs and they are brilliant to use for ratting, they absolutely love it. I had one years ago but most recently I had 2 border terriers for 10 and 15 years and you're very right Graeme, losing a dog that you had for so long is absolutely heartbreaking I was so upset when I lost mine. I was down in the dumps for weeks and weeks, it's like losing a close relative, I remember how happy and excited they got when I got home from work every day. I'd love to get another but I don't wanna have another 10-15 years and then lose it, too painful.
you cracked me up when you mentiond about you smelling what people are smoking. are quit alot of anglers out there that like the RastafariOld Holborn. i quit like the smell tho myself
I confess just after we came out of lockdown several fisheries I went to were obviously rammed with anglers ,but many were zipped up inside their bivvies with plumes of smoke leaking out of the zip !!...I guess it was the stress of that era that caused a boom in the consumption of wacky backy...The sweetish smell of it carries across from the other side of the lake. I don't know if they caught anything as I never saw them come out....I doubt they cared !!
I like watching your videos G i could show you a few things and how to fish close to snags .....first tip get dome distances sticks place 1 at the bottom of the rod butt and the other at the tip of the rod and wrap out your spot its impossible to miss or get in that tree
Back when i was 16/17 me and two mates fished from around 5pm Friday until 10pm Sunday and had bugger all sleep, Sunday everywhere I looked was like water all sloshing back and forth lol, these days I'm lucky if I get up at 6am and can stay up past 9pm without a quick snooze 🤣🤣🤣
Remember years ago fishing a syndicate lake for a few days and nights and missing out on sleep watching what we used to call a monkey climber bite indicator with an isotope insert for 2 days. Definitely with you on the hallucinations.....gotta be where the body is half way between rem and being conscious. I'm surprised you didn't see Smith😂
Smith's face was illuminated in the isotope !!...Haha..I remember the monkey climbers..takes me back at bit. I progressed from those to straightened pieces of coathanger wire ,but the monkey climber was the norm of that era.
Great dogs patterdales I've got 2 mum and daughter, but there's some Parsons/Jack mixed in as both white with black patches but long in the leg and tough as old boots. Young one looks like a real old English terrier. Love them to bits but not for the faint hearted being terrorists. Mine are brilliant out all day at work with me don't run off (for long) and great company but can't take them anywhere social as between the two of them and my deerhound my authority wanes. Prey drive is phenomenal I've seen one of mine attack a bramble after something and she clean bit through an inch thick bramble which then wedged her mouth open!
I hear they are quite something else, but the one I wanted to "borrow" by stuffing it in my holdall, was all sweetness and light. I could tell they have character ,and to be honest I had never knowingly seen one before.
@@TAFishing that's why I love them to be honest they're propper dogs scruffy ruthless little buggers but trust them whole heartedly with my son (2) and are completely part of the family the older of the two is like a stuffed toy when home can pick her up and maul her into a cuddle its ridiculous.
@@TAFishing ..that sweetness and light is a ruse 😂that’s just switched of mode ..should something appear on scene that needs a shaking or escorting off property switched on mode is a whole new box of tricks ..My last one was called “Worry” by Christ if any dog had a fitting name it was her ..she worried the life out of everything for sixteen years .
Brill video graham love your no nonsense fishing we cant all afford top gear and its nice to watch someone of the same mindset . I also love that you tell people where you are its refreshing to not watch a top angler on a private invitation only carp pond . Keep doing what you do . I also follow mike on his adventures as i love the same bush-crafty camping style activities . Id love a day on the water with you maybe if you are in yorkshire one day hit me up the kettle is always on
I try to keep it real as I've been at it too long and I won't hopefully be changing any time soon . I think the older you get the more you don't really give a flying Fernando about "image"...
I get wobbly eyes from watching a quiver-tip over slightly choppy water, it's fine when you're looking at the tip but as soon as you look up at the far bank everything is sort of shimmering for 30 seconds or so. I think it's sort of like how your balance goes weird on dry land after being in a boat all day, the brain has been compensating/filtering all day and it takes a while to get back to normal
I think I am about 3 films away from putting it up. If I can watch a Killer Whale swat an entire Seal around on the mainline TV "playing" with it,then I guess I can put my own graphic nature piece up. Its coming ,Kerry the Kestrel Ft Colin the Kite !!.....I've also got an entirely new way of assuring mole removal from my lawn .It went disastrously wrong, but fun at the time. That has to go up as well.
Absolutely great video as usual Graeme,as for the Patterdale terrier,I'm an owner of a Patterdale bitch and just like her mother before her,you can't go out in the woods with her without a spade in your motor. She'll always find a fox or badger sett.Theyre not for the faint hearted that's for sure, but so faithful as a companion👍
Our Pattie lived to 16, he was around when we had both our girls, he let them crawl all over him without a grump. Brilliant dog. Broke our hearts when he died

Check out what we have built with pallets,,,right up to an entire cabin, has about about 50 million views on our sister channel T.A. Outdoors !!
@@TAFishing Seen them! Very good.
Nice one mate really enjoyed this, I hope to get out soon, but like you always busy, and my full time job, and photo groups, not much chance yet,
all the best mate.
Probably not missing much given the weather at moment in UK.
Great little terriers the Patterdale, I had a friend who had one that she entered into terrier races and she had quite the collection of rosettes. I have a Parsons and the build on the Patterdale seems much more stocky and solid.
Hi Graham, I have 2 Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs but would like to say that each person has the best dog for them.
Johnny from Denmark
Ha ha remember the silver foil and the squeeze tops 😅
It happened to me once on the canal a hallucination, i was fishing for around 5 hours, the water had a constant ripple on it from the wind, i was obviously staring at my float for a while. When i pack up i looked down the canal path with over hanging trees, and everything was moving at once like a wave pattern. I had to sit back down for a bit 😂
I had that before but then again I had been at the shrooms
We had Patterdale. His name was Blue. Most affectionate dog ....but an excellent guard.
I read somewhere they have problems with other dogs. I hear Badgers and foxes aren't too fond of them either !!
Think it's because they have to prove how hard they are as no problems with small dogs
when the shooting syndicate let their first batch of pheasants out i had 6 for tea- the first of hundreds. i used to make chains from their wing tabs and leave them scattered about.
Whippet for me .had mine 15 years absolutely broke me when he went.he was a pure blue pup so called him bluey then proceeded to turn fawn 😂made me look a right pillock .but that was the only way he did he was a gem.
Another top job Graham. Any man alone on a boat this year? Or can you get your son onboard for the blue sharks. You two are brilliant together 🤣
I think I have a boat film left unused in the files, but its a man alone on the 50 year old clinker built wood boat with a single diesel outboard..a part of history.
@@TAFishing I'll be watching that when you put it out. 👍🏼 but do miss you on your banana drifting to New York 😅
Nice. Have you ever thought about presenting Play Your Cards Right. 😂
Yep an old mate had two of those dogs they were quiet ,sweet, friendly dogs.
Looking forward to be watching your channel and learning how to fish
Lee
@@TAFishing hahaha hot boxing bivvy
I like watching your videos G i could show you a few things and how to fish close to snags .....first tip get dome distances sticks place 1 at the bottom of the rod butt and the other at the tip of the rod and wrap out your spot its impossible to miss or get in that tree
Currently sat on the bank. What a way to finish a day 👌🏻
Hope you had a bite or two...
Sometimes i wonder what you are smoking when you start talking to smith and mabel 😂 😂
Smith is on Tramadol sandwiches and Mabel remains a convert to Jamaica's finest !!...I have trouble controlling them when they are together.
@@TAFishing haha brilliant Graham you are a legend never grow up you are totally awsome
I'm OK at night but a 6am shout is nigh on impossible now. I would almost sooner just do the whole night camped out.
We made our own monkey climbers in the 80s good memories.
Smith's face was illuminated in the isotope !!...Haha..I remember the monkey climbers..takes me back at bit. I progressed from those to straightened pieces of coathanger wire ,but the monkey climber was the norm of that era.
@@TAFishing Good times and no bloody otter fence too around every pond mate.
Nice video, thank you
Tough little dogs, often crossed with whippets round here to make a Patterdale-Whippet lurcher.
I bet that is a fairly lively customer...I bet the Postman is popular !!
Had a rough coat patterdale for many years. Loyal obedient dog
I can feel the luv
increadible as always :D
it is good stuff .. maybe moving down to portishead area later this year
Another good video...I have a Plummer terrier...
I have not heard of one of those. Google here I come !
@@TAFishing similar to a jack Russell graeme
Ted from Gone Fishing with Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse is a Patterdale and he’s definitely a cutie.
Could be more to come on Dogs...
Its great that we humans are not destructive like otters. After all, we were always here first.
Hello good sir, could you please tell me the Tent name or manufacturer. Thanks cheers
That's the same lure you caught Pike with in a muddy canal a couple years ago 😊
Probably..Always use the productive lures first.
what a legend :)
Great vid!
nice Susquehanna Salmon !
I’ll be your friend mate and strangely enough I’ve got the same hooter as the pheasant 🤪
Hi Graeme, nice video again , been watching and watching and still waiting . Will we ever see Colin ? .
@@TAFishing That sounds fantastic viewing Graeme really looking forward to that one .Hope Mrs Pullen is well on the mend, best wishes to you both .
I like great Danes. Big enough to scare anyone but most of them wouldn't hurt a fly.
fell in in my local lake when i stayed awake to long was lucky it wasnt deep never done that again my mum wasnt pleased
Must have saved water at home with an early shower ?..I wouldn't fancy falling in one of our rivers given the stuff they are pumping into them .
Used to have a Patterdale. Lovely dog. Unfortunately chased a rabbit. Never saw her again. Before days of microchipping
My brother has one of those dogs called Django 😂
Hi just subscribe mate 👍 lovely fishing 🎣
Absolutely great video as usual Graeme,as for the Patterdale terrier,I'm an owner of a Patterdale bitch and just like her mother before her,you can't go out in the woods with her without a spade in your motor. She'll always find a fox or badger sett.Theyre not for the faint hearted that's for sure, but so faithful as a companion👍
