That didn't go as planned: Honda Trail125 Maintenance

  • Sometimes things don't go as planned. Those times are more frequent when I am wrenching in the garage. My CT125 suffered more damage than I was expecting but we're making progress. I've got a lot to do and a year to do it if I want to be successful in the 2025 Scooter Cannonball.
I blame ‪@VROOMGOPAM‬ for the amount of sing-songiness in this video.

The installation of the GPS has been a challenge. I've decided not to film the install but I will have one of the results.
I need better placement of the DJI Mic 2 because it was hell trying to salvage the audio. First time using it, though. Not having to sync in post might be worth it. Haven't decided yet.

@@baldrider Looking forward to see how it turns out.
I have an old phone I use for GPS, but I have been very tempted to go with an upgrade. I think there is going to be a bike build in my near future so that might be a thing.
The beard is a challenge for lavs, but well lav mics do give the best audio quality for this type of video. I would suggest. getting a wired lav and hooking it up to your jumpsuit mid chest, that would probably give you the best results.

I have a wired lav but was trying something different. The best results I get are when I attach it to my forehead.

I’m not sure how I happened upon your channel, but I’m sure it was when I was researching the Trail 125 that I never purchased. You’re videos just come across so honest that I just kept going back to see what you were doing next. Maybe it’s watching someone bumble their way through repairs the same way I do, or losing the tool that was in my right hand and now I can’t find it because it’s in my left hand. I guess I said all that just to say great video.

Thank you. There are too many videos on the internet showing how easy things are. I prefer to make videos showing how difficult someone can make them.

May I have a little recommendation?
Since you have the service manual, maybe reading it before you do some of the jobs will reduce some frustration.

      @baldrider  Месяц назад +1

I could do that. It doesn't seem to go better for me, though. The end result tends to be the same.

What does a 13 tooth sprocket add to performance? Love your vibe.

@@wanderinggeri8477 A 13t effectively lowers the gearing. It should help maintain uphill speed better at the potential loss of top speed.

This makes me glad I don't film my scooter repairs and upgrades. Picture doing these jobs, but outside, between rain showers, and suffering from biting black flies.

Do you think it is just the outer part of the rim that needs bending back or is the whole wheel slightly ovalised (is that a word) and is the other rim OK?

    • @baldrider

It’s just the one side. It still holds air. I’m going to have a rim shop fix it. Eventually, I will learn to do it myself if this keeps happening but I just want it fixed correctly instead of whatever it is I do
