This is possibly the best version of this concerto I've found on here. Anne-Sophie and Kurt Masur give the music such direction. She plays so musically with such beautiful tone and phrasing, very incisive, sensitive, and passionate. Her cadenza and the ending of the first movement are extraordinarily beautiful.
This cadenza is the original one, written by Joachim. IMHO probably the best one ever made, never improved upon. Also it contains foreshadowing of the more modern music to come.

Thanks so much. Was looking for a later version with Mutter - surprising there’s no video of her doing this piece. Everyone talks so highly of those early recordings with Karajan, but I think they lack character. Mutter became a much more dynamic and exciting violinist in the 90s/00s as she matured
