The only difference between the two #1 when you go to jail you stay there until someone pay you're bond and #2 when you go to prison you're spending years or months depending on how many years or months the judge has sentence you to serve time for whatever crime you've committed so there is a difference between jail and prison they may be the same thing but one you can leave after being bonded out and the other you must serve time without bond until you're time is up unless you unlucky that is serving life without parole for murder and other serious crimes which can give you life without parole.
