Great Skirmish breakdown, i haven't played it yet; it's not on the spaniard servers but.. i wouldn't mind to have a server dedicated to the Skirmish and Offensive modes.

I've played about 8 matches of skirmish, 7 of them were won by the first team to cap the point and hold it for the entire time. Very difficult to dislodge the other team from the point in my experience. You can run to the point from the HQ at the beginning of the game, don't need to ride in a truck. This game mode needs some adjustment. I think slowing down the re-spawn time for whichever team holds the point may be a good start. Instead of 1 center point, there should be three points in the middle area.... whoever controls 2/3 points caps the sector. No arty? Then add mortar squads.... Nodes should not be buildable in a sector that cannot be entered by enemy. Either open up the back sector for enemies to enter or force nodes to be built forward. Also, I would argue that there should be no cool down for commander abilities in Skirmish... resource availability should be the only limitation.

Whats gonna be fun is using half tracks as very light armored vehicles. Ik the half tracks are weak but they still provide protection from small arms fire while having a decent machine gun. Also they're not as important as they are in the other game modes so it's worth it to have them out there to put some more "armor" on the field as light infantry support

    Thanks for the Skirmish rundown!
I didn't know bombing runs could destroy nodes. Is that just a Skirmish thing or does it work in other game modes as well?
    One little nitpick though:
You mention sectors and show the sector line. It's a common mistake and it makes teaching new players a little harder as they get confused with the terminology.
A sector is merely a 2x2 map grid square area, not the entire row/column. These would be called sector lines.
That is not just my opinion btw but the official lingo based off the field manual. Older editions mentioned that every map consists of 15 sectors (3x5 sectors, one per potential strongpoint).
The current iteration still has some entries to support my stance:
    Objectives - Gamemodes
    Warfare
"Players within the active sector count towards the capturing power." - As we know the cap weight is only considered in the 2x2 area at the circle, not the entire row/column. If the term sector would apply to the entire row/column, this field manual statement would be false.
    Offensive
"Defenders must defend 1 sector per sector line." - This line officially establishes the term "sector line" and implies that it consists of more than one sector.
    Control Skirmish
"Players within the active sector count towards the capturing power." - Same as Warfare.

Thanks! It works in other game modes as well.
Here’s the part you’re not going to like. I know cuz I didn’t like learning it either….so the short of it is that the field manual is wrong.
Here’s the long: I was recently writing a script about “how the map works” when I dug deep into this very problem as I was seeing the same thing you are. Sectors are the 2x2 area containing the SP and I went straight to the field manual to confirm it. Problem was that the section on sectors had been removed. Yes there were other references like the ones you mention, but that wasn’t enough for me to use as a definitive reference. So I went through ALL, I mean ALL, of the dev briefs looking for how BM referred to sectors and the language they used. The language I did find was vague and moreover seemed to support the “wrong” way. Like when they referred to nodes being placed in sectors. I then referred to the “Official New Player Guide” that was commissioned by BM to be made by some community members. They have it described the same as in the video. I have a good relationship with one of the authors of that guide so I reached out and asked how they came to those conclusions when the field manual describes it differently. He told me that they wrote that guide with help from BM and that’s exactly how BM told them to write that part. Somewhere along the line the official language changed and the field manual wasn’t updated to reflect it. Officially, sectors are the two column/row areas. Capture zones are the 2x2 areas containing strongpoints. T17 removed the section talking about this because it was not correct. It’s just too bad that they didn’t update the other parts at the same time. You’re right..it does make it hard to teach new players when different portions of the player base are using the same words with different meanings. It’s been a problem with HLL since the beginning and, while still not perfect, it was nice to see T17 remove that sector page from the manual. Remember that some of that older language was also based on how the game worked in alpha when there were literally 15 sectors available on the map and the rules to how territory locked and unlocked technically worked the same way in theory, but played out much differently in game.

I’m reaching out to T17 to get this ironed out once and for all. Haha! We’ll see how they respond.
