So I’ve been on a watching spree of harvesting honey from bees, and the ‘spinner’ thing is the one item that confuses me a tad bit. I’m pretty sure what it supposed to do, is after you break the caps on the honey, you put the comb in the spinner, and it spins with enough force that it loosens up the honey still on the comb? I think, and then said honey drains/drips to the bottom, where it comes out a spout and into a bucket. Can anyone tell me if I got that right, or have I messed up in understanding it?

Greg Cavender not true, sorry, this is a myth. Honey, like every natural products, deteriorates, producing toxic molecules of hydroxyde methyl furfural. This is a slow process and honey is stable for a while if harvested dry enough (less than 18%). But soon or later, fungus and bacteria’s ferment it or eat it. Best is to eat honey within 2 years, after 4, it begin to lose his therapeutic strength. Old honey is not eaten by bees, would you?

Always look forward to your videos, keep them coming 😀👍. It probably doesn’t matter but the frame direction on the first spin maybe harder for the honey to extract. The second spin the frames were facing the correct direction. Honeycomb has a 15* angle so the frame of honey is shaped like a V if that makes sense.

Private bubba, the machine has a water inlet. The thing he poured water into initially. You put the return hose into that, so it doesn't run out of water to heat into steam. Hes doing essentially the same thing, just putting it in a bucket and manually moving it to the water reservoir.

Steam requires pressure, if you open two holes the unit will not gain pressure and will not create pressured steam.
Think of a radiator in a vehicle. Take the cap off and it blows out the top after its been running. Leave the cap off and it all just boils dry with no pressure.
You cannot create an infinite steam engine in a non commercial unit.

Honey is anti fungal and anti bacteria and anti of many things if it is not heated. Heated honey like his is worthless .
Keep the lid on the container to keep moister out. Honey can absorb moister and can/will spoil or known as fermenting.

I dunno why but I just dont like honey. Im sure if I tried all the kinds id find one, but im so used to the sugar, glucose, fructose, etc, i just find honey to be like , almost like a sugar cube. Thats and im absolutely terrified of bees. I remember one time i was at Carowinds and id waited over 30 mins in line and a big bee started on my ear, I jumped outta line and it was on me, following not physically on me. And I ended up never getting on the ride. I hate wasp too. Always trying to make homes in my home. Thankfully windex chases them off. But its like there's a smell or something cause i destroyed the nest and they almost instinctively go back to the same exact spot. I put any cleaner you can think of to get rid the smell but no luck. Probably same thing with the ladybugs. I swear every winter they just come in and hang out.

I hope you're using distilled water with that steamer, or it's gonna be clogged with mineral deposits pretty quickly. (I realize this is a two-year-old video, but for those considering something like this, you have to used distilled water.)

Those tubs would be better having another tub in the middle with the finer mesh. Bloody good idea for the average bee keeper. 🍻

Hi Bushman. How do you find the bees cope with this type of uncapping proceedure? Saw these at Hornsby beekeeping at TOCAL this year and was curious about this.

I was curious to ask you how often do people just wait and pull honey in the spring (post winter, your seasons are a bit flip flopped than ours)? It would be less trouble for worrying about getting sugar water on in the fall. But also there might be an added problem with too much space for the bees to heat up... maybe? (Is the extra space a deal breaker?)

Hi guys, i have two questions. 1) I have a beehive it has three floors. There is no queen cage inside. Which floor or floors put the eggs by queen. 2) I don't want to give to the bees sugar, i want bees eat their own honey; i wonder that it's possible. The weather is -10 in winter here. Maybe the honey get freeze and they can't eat. Thanks for the answers.

I would only order if you were a bit cleaner. Ie: don't stick your finger in the product, especially with all of the dirt and grime under your nails. Even though honey has anti-bacterial properties... I still don't want it contaminated by anything else. Also, it isn't 'instant' so if a ball of grime drops in, and doesn't fully soak into the center, then the center is a safe place for bacteria to grow.
Granted, you may not use the stuff on the top either - but it is still annoying to see you handling the final containers with dirty hands.

Seems like a bit of a convoluted device for what it does. A roller uncapper produces just as much wax waste and doesn't require a steamer and water. Also, they don't have to be plugged in properly. :P

Honey generally has an acidic pH (though a few are alkaline). Acids react with most metals (gold is an exception). The reaction changes the flavor of the honey by taking up metallic ions. This is not usually seen as a good or desirable thing.

Holy fuck your gear is too complicated for nothing there's a youtuber, a bee keeper, who inside the hut that the bees are in, can grab the honey from a simple twist of a tiny crowbar or some shit. You gotta buy whatever tiny house he has it is simply amazing, not even compared to what you're using right now. You're gonna save in time, money, and most importantly, honey.

So, would you recommend the Honeypaw uncapper or will you stick to your old uncapping fork?
I worry a little bit, that the honey gets locally to much heat from the uncapping device?
