- Can’t believe this was my last National Team Training Camp ever!! I did my best to vlog the whole thing and let you guys know what went on and how I felt about it. Next up: Classics, Championships, and Olympic Trials!!! 😱😱😱

I am a 2016 Olympic Alternate and former NCAA athlete and have deferred my senior year at the University of Utah to come back to elite gymnastics and try for a spot on the 2021 Olympic Team. This channel documents my journey and gives insight into the life of someone preparing for the Olympics!

You’re such beautiful person inside and out. What a difference camp must be as a team. To hear the empowerment of you lifting up other team mates is so inspiring and it makes me happy that all of you are experiencing such an awesome environment. I admire your strength to come back hard after all the obstacles you have faced this year. I’m routing for you all the way. 🥰
I bet Simone is so happy to have MyKayla around, and vice versa, would probably be weird to just hang out with a bunch of teenagers for them lol
I think Simone's pretty close to her team mates from WCC, especially Jordan, so I guess it's not too bad. Still, it's probably cool to have someone around who knows "the olden days"

Mykayla and Simone Biles are the most passionate gymnasts I've ever seen. They really love their sport
A microwave and fridge?! So you're allowed to have food at camp now?!! All kidding aside, things seem a lot better now and hope they are.

They used to have ice cream socials or s’mores and watermelon at the lake. Those are only something that’s not talked about.
@@PattieM an occasional treat or food related social outing does not make up for the general culture that was created, and attitudes towards food, nor does it make up nutritionally for restricting at meals. Plus, people are not going to tall about the few positive times because the experience was overshadowed by many forms of abuse. Any positive experiences from the ranch would just be the relationships the girls formed with eachother, which could flourish more so in a healthy environment than one like the ranch.
@@coachhailey8453 Agreed. In my ballet training we were restricted and some girls put on a diet designed for rapid pre-operative weight loss...unless our main teacher was depressed and wanted to order pizza, then pretend it never happened. Honestly everyone seems to think the diets would be the worst part, and she did have one kid die of an ED, but it was the inconsistency and gaslighting that still distorts my worldview. The odd (emphasis on odd) occasion when the rules of reality don’t apply only makes it more of a mindfuck.
@@PattieM and that excuses all the abuse that went on? the reality is, that adds to the abuse.There is a bit difference between having a diet of healthy, whole foods that supports your body vs constantly receiving comments about being too fat and eating too much (when that is not even close to the case with these athletes). Adding in these "ice cream socials" only fucks with the mind even more. If you haven't experienced this type of abuse or an eating disorder I encourage you to refrain from making judgements like this.
I saw that at GK Classic you hit your foot/heal on the bar... did that hurt really bad??... Cause it sounded like it did... but your beast like that didn't even phase you!

Camp looks so great compared for eh Ranch with Marta! Like FOOD! And just a friendly vibe overall! I’m so glad that the camp had improved! also the transparency for parents to even come and watch and for you to vlog is amazing!
'i promise you guys i wont make another run' .. I'm sure Chelsie said that too - you're a long way off 30, so plenty of time to rest up, have some babies and then come back 😂
everyone at camp looks so sweet! do you guys have to pay for hotel rooms or does usa gymnastics pay for them?
I still cant believe they used to have you guys stay at the awful ranch. This is what the facilities should have looked like all along. So glad things are changing

@@PattieM I think by now we've all heard enough gymnasts talk about that place to know how horrible it was. It got shut down for a reason

Just the fact alone that the closest thing to civilization is a prison so many miles away, and the fact that there is no cell service and hospitals nearby is concerning
To have been able to do all of camp & an All Around (with 2 vaults) at classics is JUST UNBELIEVABLE, especially considering where you were in January. Well done wonder woman you're made of strong stuff! 💪

I was cheering for you so hard at my tv for classics! Following your journey from the beginning, it felt really personal... like you are my athlete, lol. I love watching your every day life training and then seeing you compete everything you work so hard at. I was so happy with all the great things everyone had to say about you. Now that you have one under your belt.. you know what you need to do back at your home gym. Rooting for you, Myk! Always have and always will!

I'd be so busy fan girling I'd forget to say hi and just be worried I looked like a pig wolfing down grub...if I got brave enough to say hi they'd probably be like does she really not know she's got food in her teeth?!
My son on the other hand would run right over say hi while waving and then climb all over them for hugs. Then he'd try to show them all his moves picked up from watching them in meets or on RUclips. Oh to be a toddler again.
Simone needs to start a RUclips channel it would be sooooo cool to see what her life is like

I know Tom wants to take out the full-twisting pak but a lot of gym fans (and not just idiot fans but people who know the code) think your full twisting pak actually has fewer deductions than your pak so think about that when deciding what to do. Fewer deductions are good and I know when I say fans it makes you think jerks but there are a lot of fans out there that know the code really well and I have been hearing over and over again that your full twisting pak is done much better than your regular pak (something about the arch being 3 tenths deduction) WHATEVER makes YOU comfortable has to be taken into consideration but I wanted to put the info up to let you know what outside code experts think.. FYI, You vaults looked amazing at Classics ( I was supposed to be there but they moved them from Connecticut-BOO) and those judges were on drugs. A little bit piked at the end but that vault should have been at least a 15.
You did awesome at classics, the judging was a joke though, I hope Tom can see through that garbage, cause those vaults would win silver at an Olympics

My daughter had a meet at the national training center earlier this year. She loved seeing this video and knowing that she had been there using the same equipment. Great job at Classics!
Congrats at your first meet back! Your vault was amazing and criminally underscored. Please work on the triple on floor again! It would be so awesome and also its tucked so no need to worry about bent knees. You can do it 💪

Video ideas- can you talk about your journey with gymnastics? Like when did you start, how long did you train for in the beginning, did you go to traditional k-12 schooling or did that interfere with your training, etc. Also another video idea could be explaining difficulty and execution scores and how to compare them for judging at meets? Great job at classics, excited for your future!

Thank you so much for sharing this video, I always wondered what camp is like and everyone seems super nice. Also, you were amazing at classics! Your difficulty scores are off the charts and it’s clear that you’re one of the best vaulters in the world! The judges seemed to be a little picky, but if you clean up some form I have no doubt you’ll be going to Tokyo. Good luck MyKayla, I’m really rooting for you!!
The gym you train at for camp is so nice!!! So much nicer than the ranch. Is that facility a new building? Training facilities for elite level athletes or Olympic athletes should be that nice and the accommodations should be nice as well.
