This was an excellent video, that is the first of it's kind recorded digitally to demystify the old untrue stories told about a historic commercial landmark. This was beautiful in many levels to learn the history and present truth from the old narratives still haunting the businesses of this location. Good job! Only us can tell our TRUTH.

Oh Virtue Grace, I love the beautiful dresses and colors also the purses that you showed at Freetown Market!!! I love the outfit that you have on also!!! TFS!!!
Loving the content sister, good to see Sierra Leone recovered from that devastating conflict some years ago.Sierra Leone also has lots of beautiful women,so African Diaspora men wanting a partner can consider visiting Sierra Leone.
I must say I saw so much beauty and creativity in that market. That's the kind of stuff I would love to buy, the masks, arts and craft, clothing etc but they dont sell such a beautiful variety where I live. Foolish stigma and rumours designed for the place not to thrive because that place is GOLD. Love the vlog sis, keep them coming, loving it this far 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You are a true genius Virtue Grace, thank you for this video especially the way you enlighten us about the effects of colonialism. Because this brainwashing thing is not a joke oh my people. We now call our own victim people “slaves” and the perpetrators of slavery “masters.” Indeed, the most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed (Steve Bantu Biko). Anyone who rapes is a rapist, and anyone who enslaves another human being is not a master but an oppressor in my humble view.

Big Market is how things business SHOULD be conducted. I am not a fan of street vendors/open air markets as it causes too much traffic issues. We need to get them all into a building or an area that is not a through street for traffic(foot traffic only) Big Market's ties to slavery are new to me. I will research this.
Excellent show. 👏👏Good to know that schools bring the children to extend and facilitate their knowledge. Increasingly ‘our own’ people need to value our arts, culture and crafts more. Evidently these craft markets best customers are diplomats from all over the world. African trade between countries needs to flourish. For example I would like to see interior designers in African hotels using more local arts and crafts instead of cold , artificial stylised decor. There is the issue of artefacts which have spiritual and ritual value. I would expect those to be kept in their countries of origin. Possibly museum curators in Europe seek out rare artefacts for exhibition displays.
Thanks Virtue Grace for sharing. That market has such beautiful items. I would be lost in there because I wouldn't know what to choose, I like everything 💖

A very Beautiful and nice market, l love the leather bags, that coat of many colours, the carvings, the drums... It's a shame, l think sierra leonians are more brainwashed than Nigerians, even foreigners are there buying up your carvings and art products but Africans want nothing but foreign goods.l love the place, beautiful products. Thank you.
O Grace, Grace! Big market nice, girl! I had to watch again and that coat you tried on, the other locally made materials, shirts, slippers, bags, everything is calling out to me. But more importantly, the culture is astounding; the spirit can be felt as the man explains the history of the masks. Tthe artwork is exquisite. It was good of that gentleman to show you around, and debunk the nasty rumours obviously intended to destroy their businesses and income. I like the mom and triplets. All revealing our rich heritage. Thank you, honey for the drumology. Always immerse yourself - dance, drum, sing - and you cannot lose.
Yes Grace!!!! It hurts me to see and experience the depth that colonialism has reached. Here in the U.S. it's super crazy at times. I wear beads n things. I also wrap my hair. "Our" people will shy away from me after looking at how I dress. One time a young guy was talking about attacking me because I must be evil. Oh the irony in that!! Nonetheless I really have to be careful and cannot where my own African garments if I want to live in peace. (New York City) smh
