1: Politics 2: It was more of a growth model company, which is how all subscription services work nowadays. 3: XM was profitable and Sirius wasn’t, but Sirius satellites have a better coverage system apparently. 4: It was a merger, but one where the management at Sirius was ‘better’ and more connected than XM, so they kept them to keep Howard. 5: To survive, they couldn’t have survived as two separate companies, and they both knew it.
