It's an elite club, and not only are we not in it, but some of them actually look down on you because of that.
RGT what are your thoughts on the time it takes to produce a video game today 5,6,7 years or more versus what it was before in the ps1 ps2 days etc… are these big games hurting the gaming industry because of the length of time it takes would smaller games be better??
Same problem with Geoff Keighley, that's why Nintendo doesn't want to work with him. We can hate Nintendo, but they know what helps the industry for the long run. Not like Sony or Microsoft, gaming is everything for Nintendo, they care it more than anybody else. They say "E3's Back" but it's never the same. Companies used to show a lot more big games off, back when dev cycles were not so long, and it was always fun to speculate who won E3. Perhaps the best part were the Cringe Compilations!
I did but who cares. Don't get carried away in the fanboy BS. The wishlist chart was from the day of the State of Play until end of the week following the Xbox Showcase. It's very likely that IGN's reader base wishlisted Astro Bot more in those 2 weeks than they did Doom in those 3 days. It wasn't an even comparison, so don't worry about it.

Anytime I scroll through IGN, just to get to one article about a game I have to scroll through 10 different products they’re pushing to get commission for.
In every form of entertainment, companies are just skipping over fans and buying favorable press to market at people who know as little as possible about any given product.
I was around when E3 was press only then went public then Nintendo,Sony then Microsoft dropped out. E3 was a big huge event full of surprises, stars, and confirmations. You could really see the amount of care put into it with the amount of money spent. I understand everything has gone up but with all these remakes and remasters..video games won’t be the same like before…games like GTA 6 will take longer and longer to come out if at all due to money.

Their reach is way too large and actually harmful to the community, creators, and gamers alike. All for greed...
When I watched the Phil Spencer interview, I thought the crowd was annoyingly loud, to the point where I couldn't hear the interview. I then wondered why they cheered after the closure question as well, I just assumed they were all a bunch of rabid xbox fanboys who thinks Microsoft could do no wrong. Makes sense, with the information you shared.
The cheering stuff isn't new it's an old play that happens in most interviews and news shows. Typically they have signs saying "Cheer" to tell people when to. Jerry Springer is a big one for this
I would argue that we don't need any games journalists anymore. With how many public events we have for games, everyone that cares about gaming is already in the know.

Im so glad i got to enjoy E3 during 32 bit console and 128bit console era then finally ended on ps3/360 era. And the tokyo game show. Cosplay everywhere and hot game girl models holding the console they were modling for.
When they broke embargo to say starfield was mid I was like they have an agenda. Then the article discussing Xbox revenue up but said it was misleading because it included activision, which got community noted and Dustin had to say sounds like a good investment
