Hormonal changes are real, until a woman has hit perimenopause/menopause, you truly won’t understand age related changes as a woman. The ladies out there 30-45. I think every generation steals from previous, puts a little twist on it, and sells it as something new! I remember in the 2000s there was a lot of trends from the 70s and 80s 😮
And in the 70s there were a lot of trends from the 20s! I just feel like each generation takes from a more and more recent one. So it used to be like every 50 years, then every 20-30, and now it’s like every 5-10.
I'm 54 and I don't think I really ever left the 80s with my makeup, specifically eyeliner. I love your channel. Your bright eye makeup makes me happy, and you are just a happy, sparkly, wonderful person to watch! Your videos brighten my day. ❤

I'm 57 and still stuck in 80's makeup in many ways and definitely still the same haircut... which used to be called a long shag cut but now it's called a wolf cut.
With my natural seriously curly hair looks the same no matter how I cut it, due to it being, long, super curly, coarse and thick
I’m an older gen z I was 17 back in 2016 and I’ve never completely left that era honestly. I love the dramatic carefully crafted brows. Mine have significantly toned down from the literal blocks I used to slap on my face but being told my naturally thick black brows were a blessing back then made me feel really good about myself. I’m glad I never felt pressured to tweeze or wax them excessively.
I absolutely love the dramatic eye makeup. It’s still my style too and I’m 43. 💙

I am so excited for bold lippies to come back. My first interaction with makeup was when I was a preteen and my cousin decluttered a classic brown 90's lipstick to me. I tried it on and just felt like it completely enhanced my whole face even though I had no other makeup on at the time. I've been obsessed with bold lippies ever since, especially a deep browns, and although I never stopped wearing a bold lip, I'm excited to see it be more popular again.
I am sooo happy that 2016 Makeup is coming back. I fell in love and I've learned how to do my makeup in 2016/2017 and i never left the chat. I love a cutcrease, heavy shimmers, bold mattes and a lightning shiny highlighter! I'm so curious what new launches will drop soon! Totally down for it.
Back in 2016 I actually wore little to no makeup. Then in 2019 and 2020 I rediscovered my love of makeup and that there was way more fun products out there than when I was younger. So I'm here for full face because I just love the act of applying makeup.

You are absolutely right about giving other people the chance to discover new things that might be old to us! The only thing I don't like about it, is that it sometimes feels like companies are rebranding old things under a new "trending" name just to sell us more of the same product. And I know that just is how business works. But for me it takes away from that feeling of a genuine new discovery, and feeds into a feeling of being tricked into spending more money on a new trend. However if products are improving in quality then that is amazing of course.
Honestly I only purchase from Indie brands for my eyeshadow palettes. They just have the best quality and all the colors. And, I always support small businesses!❤

I never left 2016 makeup and I refuse to 😂 Not into a few of the things, like the brow highlight and baking but I’m here for the colorful, bold, full glam everyday!
I’m in my 40’s, and the best part of it is, the older you get, the LESS we really care about people’s negative opinions of our appearance or in general. That being said, I agree with everything you said at the end of the video! I’ve always loved makeup for the artistry, but really it’s about how it makes YOU feel about yourself. So your friend/boyfriend/gf/so doesn’t like dramatic makeup? That’s fine, but when that person starts negatively commenting and telling you what you should or shouldn’t do with your makeup, DUMP THEM. If they can’t love you for you or for whatever you put on your face, that’s THEIR problem. If they like you with only “natural makeup”, that’s THEIR problem. If they only like you with or without makeup, that’s STILL THEIR problem. Once had a guy tell me “I just prefer the ‘plain Jane’ type, none of that paint on your face. I said ‘well, this Jane ain’t plain, and I honestly don’t care.”

When you applied your cheek makeup I fell in love with your cheekbones 😆 you look so good with this makeup! And I love your perspective on gatekeeping makeup trends. Never thought about it like that.
I hope someday all options will be available at all times and brands don’t just offer what is currently trending. Not just in makeup like jeans for example some women look and feel amazing in high rise and others in low rise both options should be available.

I used to worck at client service and i do my makeup every day to worck and there where alwayys some as***les who said things like “youre so cute, you dont nedd all that makeup” or “why do you do your makeup like that, you dont need all that” and i have to smile and say “Thankyou” because for my bosses they where just doing me a compliment, you know?Its so annoying, they’re disgusting, i hate them.

I remember taking makeup classes in the early 2000s, and the brow bone highlight was "THE" look 😊 that and frosty shadow. I would do all my friends' makeup before going out. When I look at photos from that time, we all have the exact same makeup on like 5 different skin tones and textures 😮
The problem with these people are that they can not just scroll past if you do not like something! I was always taught by my parents and my grandmother if you can't say something positive or nice about someone then don't say anything at all!!! All you people out there that come here to criticize you on your channel need to keep quiet! If you can't say something good or positive then don't talk at all!! I loved your look! This is why I love your channel, we 've been placed on this earth to find out what makes us happy and what we like, there is no sense in judging each other, as long as nobody is getting hurt. Make up is personal and it washes off it's not that deep! I was doing no makeup makeup in 2016, and I ve been doing dramatic colorful makeup since 2020, I m not planning to stop. Our time is better spent uplifting one another. Love the look btw I think I can recreate it with my Hela palettes!

Things becoming a trend can definitely be liberating, so gatekeeping is sometimes just limiting us, not protecting/insuring us. For instance, I'm 25 (going 26) now, and I LOVED blush when people openly hated on it. It was overall not the beauty standard, or style, let along trend, then. Adored it, literally would stalk the sephora page once in awhile, waiting for the day an influx of blush would be released. Now blush is a trend, and I'm thriving with options and fun. Also the different options have a taught me a lot about myself- my complexion, undertone, mutedness, what compliments me, etc. Expect my wallet, the wallet is definitely not happy. The things you love, being supported, is definitely it ❤ Can't believe I implicitly wrote a love letter to blush...

I love all the changes in complexion and eye makeup trends and how they’re cycling back around. But I grew up being told by my sister, mother, grandma “Do NOT touch your brows! They’ll stop growing back before the trend comes back!” so seeing the skinny brow in its next evolution scares me 😅
I bought my first eyeshadow palette in 2016. It was Too Faced Pretty Rebel and it had a bright pink that turned out to be a gateway drug to my mid-50's colorful makeup obsession. We have indeed come a long way but I will say, that palette still rocks.

I just like you live a clean face makeup & color on the eyes ! I just personally prefer that aesthetic ! Feel like it’s more me & fits with my face … & since you’ve been doing matte inner corner , I’ve NEVER gone back to shimmer inner corner , I feel like it’s more flattering ! & I also just do matte on the brow bone , never a shimmer ! ( & I’ll be 33 in 3 months !) ☺️💜✨✨
I wore a sample of that urban decade foundation and I was literally outside covered in sweat all day and it held up... I was pretty impressed.
But you really have to blended in quickly depending on how much texture you have on your face.. Because it dries t down really quickly
I love the idea of this visible makeup making a comeback, but with all the new technologies that we have now! So fun.
Oh, and for lashes... I wonder if Asian style lashes (very fine) will catch on, and then ease into something more substantial? Plus, remember when everyone used to fix their looks by adding giant lashes? I think maybe the heavy makeup demands a lash!
I'm 40 too, & 2016 was my Estee Lauder Double Wear phase... I still think it looks good & has a great color range. I've gone more dewy now, so I don't use it as much, but it's still a beautiful product. But seeing teenagers use it feels bad... it's so high coverage for such young skin 😢

I bake only when I need to block away my eyebrows for special occasions, like when I need no eyebrows for a Freddy Krueger look or only half eyebrow for a Goblin King look. That's a good use for a too pale matte foundation I have, it works well to set the glue on top of my eyebrows XD
I love so much of what you said, that we shouldn't be gatekeeping and thinking we're better because we've already discovered these methods back in 2016. It's easy to dismissive of the trends and just roll our eyes but we shouldn't stop people from having fun!
I... I love this video! It made me feel warm and fuzzy, like my hair today. If I cackle, peoples (pe-oh-plez as I say 😮) without a doubt 'Burn the witch' with Pitchforks and roast me over an open fire. Also, Morphe Orange mattes OM or orange shimmers OS with nearly red shades. I could not find yellow or red. Now it is in nearly every palette! Times change people are rediscovering the older methods. The question is, who really wants to like a disco ball is on their nose? Who started these things? Who cares why! 😮😂 It is FUN!

Personally I absolutely adore the way you do your makeup! Actually about two and half years ago (after I had a health scare) you totally inspired me to start doing makeup again. I used to be really into makeup until my 30’s when I stopped wearing makeup altogether for about 8 years. Now, I’m 42 and I do my makeup every day! Even if it’s just to take photos or post on Instagram, it’s a hobby I absolutely love.
