2:28. The virtual keyboard is not a productivity tool. It's for quick inputs, like usernames and passwords, Google searches, etc. It's not how you're going to write your next novel. This is why Apple talked about support for wireless keyboards and mice. If you actually plan to sit down and get real work down, you can use traditional input devices. That virtual keyboard is for convenience for when you're moving about, or you're just lounging in a chair, and you need a quick input.
I'm very excited for it. just from the entertainment side of things, it will be worth it in my eyes. I can have a mobile 4k big screen tv on my bedroom ceiling 🤣
2:19. You don't have to have your hand "up", you can have them resting on your lap, or on the desk, or whatever, just as long as they are visible to the camera (meaning there is nothing between them and the camera). I'm not sure where you're getting this "hands up" idea from. Everyone's commentaries (who have actually used it) have been all about how impressed they were that you could have your hands resting in your lap, and how they were encourage by Apple's staff to put their hands "down". That's also what you see in the video of the woman using the headset as she's sitting on the couch in her home, her hands are physically resting on her lab as she controls the device.
I guess for certain gestures (like scrolling up and down) it would be quite challenging to have your hands resting on your lap! But yes I take your general point that it’s not as strenuous as I probably made it out to be!
I ordered Vision Pro (512GB) with a planned pickup on 2/3. Regarding productivity, I want to explore the "Look to Dictate" function. Ideally, I would seek to transition away from a keyboard. I create various documents and want an app that might use AI to understand my preferred format, punctuation, grammar, etc. I have used Grammarly, but would like to take this to another level.
I ordered one, and I don't know what I will be using it for. I have two weeks to try it out, and if it collects dust, I will just return it. I honestly won't know until I try it. I am watching videos like yours to get a better idea what is in store, but really won't fully know until the product officially launches.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Good luck with it, will be good to know what you do end up using it for in a few weeks! If I had the opportunity to get one (apparently they’re being released in Nov in the UK) I’d be doing exactly the same!
3:34. The Vision Pro is not a better desktop, it's not a better phone, it's not a better tablet. So even though you can do these things on it, it's not going to do them better. Just like a desktop is not a better phone, and a phone is not a better desktop. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, there is a reason Apple is calling this "spatial computing," it's because it's distinct from desktop computing, and mobile computing. Vision Pro's strengths will be in spatial applications. Think of wearing the device and you ask, "where are my keys," and it either scans your environment, or remembers where you left them, and it directs you to them, and highlights them in your vision. Think about having a shopping list, and you go shopping, and while you're walking down the aisles Vision is scanning and reading all of the products as you move by, and all of a sudden it tells you that your desired item is to your left, and then highlights it in your vision. You then turn to look, and it is highlighted, as are other similar options, complete with comparative information notifying you why you might want to select one over the other, which one is cheapest per volume, which one has the least amount of sugar, what have you. The problem is that because this is a new computing category these applications don't really exist yet, so early adopters are going to have to use other less refined experiences, while those more germane use cases are built out. This is how the iPhone was launched (you had mostly web experiences to use), same with iPad (you had mostly iPhone apps to use), Apple Watch (streamed apps from iPhone). It would be nice if Apple could launch a fully fleshed out computing category from day one, but unfortunately it's an iterative problem that requires the entire community to evolve toward the mature state. Including users. Without early adopters using and pressing the technology, there would be no driving force to direct the advancement of the ecosystem. Ultimately tools are adapted to their users, and not to the vague notions of their designers, at least the good ones. That means early adopters are vital to the creating of a new computing standard. But it's going to be the wild west, with all of the benefits and drawbacks there of. If you want to be and early adopter you do it because you want to experience an adventure, not so much because you think you're moving to a fully settled and ready to go new home.
Thanks for this great comment! Completely agree…. There are so many great potential use cases for this device that can be envisioned, none of which will supersede the need to get traditional work done on a more ‘traditional’ device. Let’s hope users are not priced out of generating the demand we need to give it more of a sense of purpose! If you’re getting one, enjoy the adventure!
I enjoyed your thoughts and effort on this Video.. Thank you.. I did order one and to answer your question, my use of this device is a bit unique in that I'm an civil engineer and have a very large screen at my desk that I use because of the CAD applications I am often using.. I travel quite a bit and a laptop screen is just very hard to use because it is so small. Although I am an Apple Fan, the CAD systems are on PC and so, strangely, the one app that I am looking forward to using is Remote Desktop so that I can mirror my PC Screen when traveling. Then I would use a blue tooth keyboard and mouse. Who knows if it will work well or not yet, but at this point I'm hopeful. Good Luck with your channel. I wish you the best.
Appreciate it bud thank you for commenting! That’s a really interesting use case… well one that at least goes some way to justifying the hefty cost! Will be interested to hear how it works with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I’m sure it will work, but just how intuitive it will feel to look down at your peripherals whilst wearing a headset will be interesting!
Most of your concerns assume you're not using it with keyboard and trackpad which you would for any real work. Your other issues about distractions is true for any computing device.
Fair point, though honestly I’ve seen really little about how easy it would be to use it with a physical keyboard and a trackpad, so let’s see! Distractions are everywhere, but distractions that are also fully immersive might be taking it to a very dangerous level!
@FeelProductive true but the reality is the real distractions are RUclips and social media. These 3d experiences tend to be one offs that you pull out to impress friends. Content is the addiction not delivery mechanism.
I think the better question to ask, perhaps, is: Do we really want to be more productive and “get ‘more’ work done”? After all, Americans are some of the most productive workers on the planet. Also, do we really want to be more productive if that means making the “man” even richer? I submit that for me, I want to spend less time working and more time living. As it is now, we give our best years and hours to the job and the leftovers go to what’s most important. This is backwards. Locking ourselves into some environment for work’s sake is downright dystopian!
I like the idea of tech like this helping us reduce the time it takes to get stuff done so we can do more meaningful stuff. From the footage so far of the Vision Pro out in the wild, I think you can get more done in less time because of the immersion and the ability to focus… so if it makes you more efficient in your productivity that’s going to mean more time living hopefully!
@@FeelProductive I understand you’re also playing devil’s advocate, which is fair. It just seemed like sometimes you had to stretch to make a point. But who knows… that all could be valid. I’ll find out more next Friday! Thanks for the video!
There is nothing intuitive about using a keyboard/mouse/trackpad. You must unlearn what you have learned. Nothing could be more intuitive than simply moving your hands and fingers! Maybe many of us are too old to reach the future in terms of productivity!
So, the strap on the head is too much (I see your hat). And the other strap that goes across is too much - I also notice your hoodie. Goodness knows we wouldn't want anything on our heads, for sure. And yes, I ordered 3 minutes after preorder opened. 512gb device + spare battery + battery clip
Haha good luck with it Terry, hopefully it fits you well enough! I will also most likely be pre-ordering as soon as humanly possible when they’re eventually released in the UK. God knows how I’ll get it on over this hat and this hoody though ; )

you really hit on a lot of key points that never came to mind before. 🤔
This is great quality 👌

That sounds really cool, dictation is becoming super accurate these days…. Would love to hear how you get on with it initially!
@@FeelProductive Will do! I hope we (Vision Pro owners) form a community where we share our discoveries. We need to learn from each other.
