We do the same thing all the time, especially to bring the fridge down to temp before leaving on a trip. We did purchase 2 of the 10 gauge extension cords....we keep one in the garage so it's easier to connect to from our driveway and another one stays in the van....just in case we end up mooch docking from family or friends driveway. We can run everything except the AC while plugged in.
I have done the same with with our coachman beyond. It pulls about 10 amps from the 110volt 15amp house outlet with the 12 volt ac running and still puts a little charge into the batteries. I’m not quite sure why but at some point the coach will stop drawing power from the house and go to battery. At that point the draw on house is only 1 amp. If I remove the smart plug for about 10 min and plug back in it resets.
Did the battery fully charge? I have a similar setup for my RV, only I had to also get a 30-50 amp connector. My batteries seem to never fully charge, and I’m wondering if it’s because I’m plugged in to only 15 amps or if it’s because the batteries are old 🤔
@@thomaskrull4766 ah got it, thx. I’m actually thinking about getting the Prime Design Ladder and then attach some type of Pelican case on it for storage of some lighter items (electrical cables, water hoses). Will try and find Hank’s vid. Thx for the heads up. )
i'd be curious to know whether the shore power cord is supplying the coach directly , or whether shore power inverts to DC to charge the battery then inverts back to AC before it hits the AC plug inside the coach.
When you mentioned changing Xantrex to 15amps and then said you thought it was at 45amps as a default, did you change it back to 45amps or 30amps after you completed charging from garage outlet? Thank you.

That’s an interesting question. Perhaps another viewer knows the answer?

Changed it back to 30 amps
What kind of MPG are you getting?
I’ve had over 17mpg but average around 14.5.
