Standing ovation 👏 I love how you’ve done so many research on different available test that don’t require a visit to your doctor to get a prescription. Personally I tell my doctor when I see him it’s a social visit because nothing he tells me to do works. I’ve gotten better insight on health through different keto experts (some being doctors themselves) I was diabetic for years and tried to reverse it alone with diet and was successful short term. Then decided to have sleeve surgery (weight loss surgery) that excited me to know I left hospital off all meds. However although the program included advice from a “nutritionist “ I still was able to eat all the wrong foods just in smaller quantities because my stomach was cut down to size of a small banana. I still monitored my sugar daily with glucometer at home and had routine bloodwork done to check A1c but the idea I can now get a cgm without being diagnosed as a diabetic to monitor how the foods, time of day etc affect my sugar excites me. I appreciate you and will be signing up to get my cgm ❤

Exactly, Nili!! EVERYONE should check their blood sugar regularly, that way people can monitor their blood sugar so they can make better food and life style choices. We should ALL be doing this! I totally agree with you!

Sorry one more thing my doctor and nutritionist never talked or explained which foods to avoid to reduce, eliminate inflammation, stomach issues until I came across Dr berg and opened up my eyes and introduced a whole new keto community. I am so grateful for you all. Everyone needs to be more proactive in achieving a better healthier lifestyle and use the tools and information shared to decide what works for them and doesn’t. Just like you hear “there’s an App for that “ in conventional medicine they say “ there’s a pill for that “ but unfortunately they all have side affects. I no longer want to take a pill for a disease and create another problem that has to be corrected with another pill. Thank you for letting me share my opinion.

I have not found FreeStyle Libre to be all that accurate for either me or my hubs. We got a scrip for him as he was pre-T2D and private pay for it with The GoodRX discount, around $77 for 2 (one month supply). I recommend checking periodically with finger sticks and recording those readings in the app so you can track the gap between sticks and the CGM. It runs low for us compared to the more accurate finger stick monitor but it is super helpful for things testing foods so we still use them. They’re a great biohacking tool for maximizing your food choices. Expect big BS spikes for physicality like exercise and for stressors like driving in traffic. The graph is an awesome picture of what’s going on in your body.

When I wore one, the difference between the CGM and testing on a glucometer were huge at times, loosely in the ballpark, and other times spot on. The blood test will be more accurate than the CGM. I hope it all works well for you and you learn what you are wanting to. Carry on! :)

One weird thing I've observed is that a hot shower will produce a high reading that looks like a spike. Nothing to be concerned about, I just found it to be interesting. I have found too that some sensors can be way off or defective. I have three different Glucose monitors. I took all of them to the lab with me one morning to test at the same time as the lab drew a fasting glucose. I have a Keto Mojo, the Precision Xtra, and the FreeStyle Libre. The Xtra & Mojo were both measuring 20 points higher than the actual lab amount. However, the FreeStyle Libre blood strip (not the CGM) was spot on with the lab result. The CGM sensor measures the glucose in the interstitial fluid (not the blood), so there is about a 5 min delay in the measurement matching what a finger stick would say. The CGM sensor reading in my experiment matched the lab result after five minutes or so. I called the manufacturers of the Xtra and the Mojo and was told that a 20 point discrepancy between their device readings vs. the actual blood lab was considered within the FDA approved margin of error. This is disappointing. If your Mojo or Xtra consistently shows a fasting glucose reading of 110-120 you might be thinking you are borderline pre-diabetic when in reality your numbers are in the mid to high 90s. Looking forward to hearing your results :)

I know a lot of people who have been getting CGM's. I am going to get my labs done in January or February (when I can actually get an appointment). My dad had adult onset diabetes. Mom was always worried I would get diabetes, although I didn't at that time. It will be interesting to see how my A1C and glucose numbers. I have never had either tested. I am a couple of weeks away from 62. Dad was 60 when he got the diagnosis.

An after-dinner snack of hard cheese, fatty meats like pepperoni and liverwurst or full fat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese always lowers my glucose by about 10 points. A snack with allulose, monk fruit, almond or coconut flour like mug cake or ice cream raises my glucose, I also put on 12 lbs. after losing 35 since I started the mug cakes and ice cream. Going Carnivore until spring and will see what happens. Heading your way come spring to the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville.

It's a good tool if you know what you are using it to achieve or trying to help you identify what foods or stress, or lack of sleep, or medication might still be raising glucose levels. It is important to to remember you can have HIGH Insulin Resistance while having "good or low" blood sugars levels. My A1C has never been over 5 BUT after 2 1/2 yrs of strict keto I still have high IR....I have had high IR for 40 plus years and my A1c has always been 4.9 - 5. My body is very efficient at storing fat...which is why my blood glucose has remained low. BUT that doesn't mean that low glucose lone means you are healthy.

I googled the price and it ranges from $160 to over $300/month. That is just too much for the average person. This needs to be prescription free like the glucose sticks. Then it will be affordable. Most insurers will not pay even if you are diabetic unless you are on insulin. I have type 2 but not on insulins, so I have to pay out of pocket. The spot where Nili put hers, which the company recommends, is the most uncomfortable for me. The skin is loose there and jiggles. I out it on the top of the arm and it works great.

The Libre, I bought, was terrible. The monitor was never correct. Alarm constantly going off, always very wrong reading. The Monitor attached on the upper side of the arm, was very inconvenient . I hit it on doorways, or people bumping me. The monitors adhesive hold would come off my arm, needle bent... another $75 wasted.

Wow, cj. That does sound like a terrible experience! I have been using the Libre for about a month and a half (I'm on my third device.) I place the unit (as I understand the directions) on the back, fleshy part of my upper arm. Once secured, I can't feel it nor does it catch on clothing, doors, etc. Taking it off is the worst part because the adhesive is so sticky! But everyone's experiences are individual and perhaps you'd be happier with a monitor that attaches elsewhere. Good luck on your health journey!

For the third month, they shipped my CGMs almost 2 weeks late (12 days to be exact). What did they offer me as compensation? Nothing. Here is the email they sent me:
"I understand that you're frustrated with the delay in receiving your CGMs for this month. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the shipment delay. The 4th of July holiday did impact the normal shipping schedule, resulting in a delay in delivery.
I have tracked your package, and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, June 11th. Here is the tracking information:. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience."
Additional emails confirmed they had no remedy for delivering 12 days late but they were sorry and would provide no refund even for the almost 1/2 month I did not have a CGM.
