Sergio Valencia The thing is that since the world is so globalized, people really don’t care for nationalism and loyalty to a single country, especially when the most “patriotic” countries like America are more busy fighting themselves.
The thing I love most were the lines, "Live with honor", "Die with glory". The first time they say this to each other it was like they were stating their personal credo. They went into battle to live it, Reinhardt charging into the front lines for a chance to die in glorious combat while the elder soldier lived to protect his foot soldiers and comrades with honor. But when the said it each other the second time, it reverses the roles. The old man goes out in glorious fashion while the young Reinhardt goes to protect the troops and gain honor in doing so. In that moment after he hands over his hammer, you can see he realizes that he was charged with the more difficult of the two. Being brash and uncaring is easy. Dying is easy. Living is hard. Living with honor, even more so.
There is another line that is a lot more subtle that also changes context similarly to the one you mentioned which is “I have been called, I must answer.” Balderich says it is a great honor in response to Reinhardt’s dismissal. When Reinhardt says it, he says it out of a sense of duty, as if he has a debt to pay for taking Balderich’s place as a member of the initial Overwatch strike team.
This Cinematic hits even harder after you play with him, everytime he puts up his shield he says "I will be your shield" and here you know why and he means it. And the comic he says "this armor is old and has seen so much, but still holds" and you see here how originally could hold the shield so long and sky though the battlefield with such easy, now in game is so clunky and fragile, but as Reinhardt still holds.
In the cinematic you heard him say "Barriër is failing." at 11:03 of your vid. That is actually also what he says in game when his barrier gets low. Also you can fight in that level and actually see that corpse laying on the throne.
I was just going to post this exactly more or less. I don't play Overwatch much, but this cinematic and story overall (along with the Mei short) really kinda hit home a bit.
So far, I haven't seen too many people pick up on how weary Reinhardt is at the end. You can hear how goddamn TIRED he is. He may be off galavanting around, adventuring, but the second he hears Winston's call, he responds by dropping everything. He's the one of the three oldest, if not the oldest, character. And it shows in this short. "I have been called. I must answer."
@@fatcoyote2 He is canonically the oldest. Allthough i disagree, i don't really perceive Rein's voice as weary at the end. Just somber.
You can tell that young Reinhardt never really thought about the Crusader mantra of "Live with honor, die with glory". In the beginning he was just saying the words, but when a fatally-wounded Balderich tells him to "Live with honor" he really contemplates the response for the first time and what it means. In that moment, he realizes his friend is going to die and you can really see it on his face.

I think I love this short so much because it really does speak to Reinhardt's sense of honor and duty and dedication. Like you touched on, young Reinhardt was still a hero, but he was too focused on the glory and praise his actions would bring to him rather than the deeds themselves, and the glory of simply doing what's right to protect Germany during the Omnic Crisis along with the other Crusaders. Hell, you saw him run off, NO HELMET, to dick around with 15 or 20 of the Bastion units instead of protecting his unit like Balderich told him to do. But once Balderich had to not only get him out of a jam but ultimately sacrificed himself so that what was left of the soldiers could get away/buy time for the German military's airstrike to come in, you could see and feel the shift taking place in Reinhardt's character. Like, you said, it was humbling; regardless of how unfair it was to Balderich to have to give his life for it to happen, the whole experience taught him that the greatest glory would come with upholding his duty as a member of the team rather than seeking individual satisfaction by being the big badass hero. That the greatest glory one could attain would be simply by being someone else's shield. So, when they cut back to the present and he and Brigitte are standing in front of Balderich's resting place, undisturbed after all these years, and he echoes his master's words ("I have been called. I must answer."), you could tell that, despite the circumstances that led to his departure from Overwatch (which I believe are covered in more detail in one of the webcomics), he still felt like he had to uphold his duty, and as Balderich said, **to be their shield**. Because it was the right thing to do. Always.
I start to cry every time I see your reaction and what hits me particularly hard is that Reinhardt literally takes the words literally as he says be her shield and protects her as his shield fails with his own body and that grabs me so violently
When Reinhardt was young he had a great ego and wanted all the glory. When his friend wanted to sacrifice himself he finally understood the meaning of being a crusader. It isn’t about the glory of killing, but the honour of being the shield for others. He gave his hammer which he normally would never do because of his ego, so that was emotional (for the friend as well). So in honour for his friend he joined Overwatch and he will always answer the call for his fallen friend. In the game now hear him say “I will be your shield” so there is a deep story behind his words. You can still see Balderich’s body at Eichenwalde and I never knew that was Rein’s friend.
god that short gets me every time i fell you katja this is a testamony to stand your ground and fight for what you trully believe and fight not always means that you have to pick up a weapon that is why i love Reinhardt he says himself i will be your shield edit i love the feeling they have capture i never was a soilder but as a former paramedic i know what it feels like to be out there in the gray seeing the light and darkness
1986-2009 USN, I was called and I answered...not many of my brothers and sisters made it home, I did. And sometimes I wonder why. I served in both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, GMC SW ret.⚓️🇺🇸 Reinhardt learned a very hard lesson, that the ultimate honor is to give your life so others may live, glory follows only in the stories told later. As a Vet I only ask that as Memorial Day gets closer, take a moment to remember those that gave their lives and didn't make it home.
As someone in the military, we are taught to not give up, one of our key points. “You can not force someone to surrender, if you want to surrender than everyone must.” As a Cav Scout our flag which is red over white. It means “death before surrender.” Something a lot of us were taught in basic training and basically convinced that. I myself believe in that due to the fact I rather put my life down to the last breath of it means I can stop the enemy from moving forward even by a little.
As a mid masters player +300h with rein, i love the frase "The team needs you, be their shield" that insignificant frase made me climb a lot of SR, never forguet you're a main tank, the one in the front line, the one who make pressure, the one who eats all the dmg, thats it... be their shield, keep it in mind, and be a real Reinhardt. I cry everytime i watch this btw Q_Q
I just wanted to say, that when Reinhardt gave his hammer to Balderich, he gave away his weapon, and gave up his ego for glory, and he took up the sheild, because he doesn't need a hammer to defend these soldiers, he just needs to be their shield. That is all, and everyone who reads this, have a wonderful day. Love with honor, die with glory.
I was keeping myself together (barely) through this, then you said "Why... why can't just people get a long, you know?... why, why, why does there have to be so much hatred in the world like this?". This broke me, in so many different ways. The world can be a cruel place at times, I hope for my children's sake that my generation is able to make this world a better place for them and the generations to come.
Such a genuine, honest reaction is hard to come by. And this cinematic brings a manly tear to my eye even today. Blizzard knows how to play with our feelings when they want to.
@@teamcybr8375 They didn't so much play with our feelings regarding Diablo as they made a physical entity out of them and decided to crush it under their heels, light it on fire, and then have a sausage party over it before dancing around said fire in a celeberatory, tribal manner.

Balderich van Adler dies in the throne and the body and armor still there. He dies with glory and because that he stay there. Reinhardt is one of my favourite characters in Overwatch, this animated short makes me feel so happy and sensible with others. My country is so chaotic about the laws. And being friendly and help others is actually weird. We most learn more, be more humans.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen and you bring out the inner nerd in me. It's amazing. While I'm quiet, you say all the things I am saying in the inside. I love it!
What do I love from this? It's simple. The honor. The humanity of their reactions. His answers at the end and what it actually represents: "I have been called", "I must answer. Always" that was perfect to me, and I cried at that moment, that honor. that respect, that humanity. It was just perfect. sorry for my bad english, and greetings from Spain. you're my favorite "reactioner" (?) cause I felt the same as you did in every short you reacted. looking for more reactions
Hey All Ages of Geek, I just want to say that video of yours is super emotionally beautiful. I mean, when you cried, i cried and I loved what you said about being a hero. I’m total Overwatch fan myself since a few years ago though I never played the game. Great honor watching you.
That was a very genuine reaction for this origin story of Reinhardt, and I agree that it's a sad one. For the question, "Why can't people get along?" That's always a question that is going to keep eluding us and it's not an easy question to answer. People discriminate against anything that is different from them, react violently when things go wrong, or don't share any wealth that is given to them, and often times, that little spark of resentment, anger, or greed can lead to conflict. I know where you are coming from, and trust me, I feel pained by the negativity, hate, and resentment towards one another, just like you, especially with the age we live in today. Many prayers and blessings go with you. God bless you.
This short over all the others ran me through every possible human emotion and that was my favorite part of Honor and Glory. It also shows you were he got his signature line "I will be your sheild" every time he says it it's like a tribute to his friend and mentor. Just plane Amazing...
Yesss thank you for reacting on this video! I waited so long, and I cried with you! This one always hits me right in the feels, I couldn’t help it. Thank you so much for reacting to this one!
I am a veteran and a police officer who doesn’t play the game but my 2 nephews play and I saw this short mini movie and this character reminded me of myself in so many ways. When you’re young you are carefree, fearless, and reckless, then there is a life changing, humbling moment that every person goes through that will change you as we all saw him change when he realized it was time to say goodbye to his friend. This video was a very deep and it captures the mindset of people who are in service and the sacrifices we have endured though out the years and at now even an older age will still go if called upon. Loved your reaction!!
This is probably one of the best one since it shows Rein in a really believable way. Like, he doesn't want to answer because he wants fight or glory, if anything, he comes off as tired but he still do it because he has to, because of the memory of his friend. You can really see that this thing changed as, for all his bravado, he could not save his friend. Unlike Mei who shrugged off several of her friends dying and world going to shit like nothing. Freaking psychopath.
that really hit your feels right Cat, every Overwatch trailer has something to teach, and this is how one fight changes a man, that even if your almost dying you can still fight and win, will power is enough to change to world, but it all starts with one choice, you just need to choose
Those are true tears that I see those tears are from the heart. That is why I love watching your videos. Because they show that you are very much connected to this reaction. I always love to see people react to these videos with true emotions.
11:24, that moment when your in a 1v1 and it's overtime and you have shatter, FAT 1K SHATTER, you can almost hear xQc screaming "ROLLED AND SMOKED MY DOGGIES."
Love how he sacrifice himself for everyone else like me but not in war but in general. For example:) My family struggle with money and i'm not the oldest but i'm the one who always sacrifice a meal and my mom told me not to do that but I don't care just as long as everyone else is okay around me😊 P.S: I'm only 20 and I been doing that every since I was a kid👍
I sacrifice my *"Happiness"* for my family and forever i will atone for the mistakes i made with them.I was cursed as an infant and to this day feel responsible for the constant series of unfortunate events that befall them every day..Yes i also come from poverty but i don't let it hold me back because i STRIVE til the day i can make amends.I CHERISH them ALWAYS since their parents did not do the same.Only til i was born did they finally attain *"Happiness"*

I shared honor and glory with my dad when I visited my parents during the pandemic shutdown and ever since we watched it we now either part ways or hang up our phones saying it. You never truly grow up until your innocence dissipates from your soul through the loss of someone close to you. *You can fix a broken shield, but you can’t fix a broken heart.*
I really appreciate how you thank those who had to go to war, even though war is horrible. My dad served in Vietnam and it was a tough war, coming back to people hating on him. This cinematic is my favorite cinematic Blizzard has made of all time. I seriously picture the robots as our battles in life, and Reignhardt being us wanting to give it our all, but sometimes we need someone to come beside us and help us when we need a hand to get up. keep fighting with all we got. This cinematic encourages me even with my battle of depression I have those people in my life who have been my shield in tough time. Live with honor, and die with glory!!!
Why is this my favorite OW short? I watched this short with my Dad. Who was fighting a massive infection in his heart. It had become so weak that it was hard for him to stay focused or coherent, but he managed to watch the whole thing. He loved OW's story because it reminded him of the three musketeers acting for the good of the people over the rule of a monarch. My Dad held it together enough to say Balderich's promise "Always" at the end of the short. My father died a few months later. I lived 500 miles away, it was the last thing we did together.
TBH, this my NUMBER 2 best and MOST HEARTBROKEN reaction video by Katya. As a fan of Overwatch, I truly love that game. BTW, your Spider-Man finale was ultimately the #1 most heartbroken reaction and I truly felt it the most. Once again, keep up the most outstanding work. Pay no attention to the haters because you are 100% real... When you laugh, I laugh. When you cry, I cry. I'll continue to support your channel no matter what.
I knew this would hit you hard. Easily my favourite Overwatch short. I get misty-eyed damn near every time I see this one. Gotta say that it's interesting to see what you saw in it. It's not exactly what I see but still, it's powerful stuff.
What gets me everytime I watch this as their Crusader words "Live with Honor, die with Glory" was their final instructions to eachother . Also they said the same thing when they're called up by Overwatch: "I have been called, I must answer."

Always.
Why did he leave OW? Was it when they were disbanded?
I start to cry every time I see your reaction and what hits me particularly hard is that Reinhardt literally takes the words literally as he says be her shield and protects her as his shield fails with his own body and that grabs me so violently
"I have been called. I must answer. Always." God that's such a good line
You can still see Balderich’s body at Eichenwalde and I never knew that was Rein’s friend.
god that short gets me every time i fell you katja this is a testamony to stand your ground and fight for what you trully believe and fight not always means that you have to pick up a weapon that is why i love Reinhardt he says himself i will be your shield
edit i love the feeling they have capture i never was a soilder but as a former paramedic i know what it feels like to be out there in the gray seeing the light and darkness
1986-2009 USN, I was called and I answered...not many of my brothers and sisters made it home, I did. And sometimes I wonder why.
I served in both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, GMC SW ret.⚓️🇺🇸
Reinhardt learned a very hard lesson, that the ultimate honor is to give your life so others may live, glory follows only in the stories told later.
As a Vet I only ask that as Memorial Day gets closer, take a moment to remember those that gave their lives and didn't make it home.
"The team needs you...Bee their shield" that quote sticks with me when im reinhardt
This short reminds us all what truly makes Reinhardt a real knight.
"I have been called...I must answer. Always..."
Honor and glory trailer reaction is finally here . Thank you so much Kat and I can’t wait for you to get deeper in the Overwatch universe😊❤️
"My mentor Balderich was born here! And . . . he died here."
~Reinhardt Wilhelm
Junkertown: The Plan? 😎
They certainly played with our feelings with Diablo.
That said this short leaves me sobbing every time.
The Brennan lolz. The shade is unreal
@@teamcybr8375 They didn't so much play with our feelings regarding Diablo as they made a physical entity out of them and decided to crush it under their heels, light it on fire, and then have a sausage party over it before dancing around said fire in a celeberatory, tribal manner.
Fan from Taiwan here.
I love how u are so emotionally touched by the animation, the story, and how u express ur feelings in front of the camera that directly, vividly and genuinely.
Also impressed by how much u can learn and interpret from a short story.
That is not common to see a YTber reacting and giving those feedback deeply from heart!
Lots of love
5:36- 5:48 she's brigitte
Cinnamon Roll Brigitte :3 a deadly Cinnamon Roll xD
Balderich van Adler dies in the throne and the body and armor still there. He dies with glory and because that he stay there. Reinhardt is one of my favourite characters in Overwatch, this animated short makes me feel so happy and sensible with others. My country is so chaotic about the laws. And being friendly and help others is actually weird. We most learn more, be more humans.
I LOVE THIS ANIMATION SOOOOO MUCH
This is the first video of yours that I have seen and you bring out the inner nerd in me. It's amazing. While I'm quiet, you say all the things I am saying in the inside. I love it!
It's okay Katya, I cried too. This was so sad. I main Reinhardt as well, so it makes it even worse.
"I must answer ALWAYS" the honor in one phrase
With hate comes peace with peace comes joy with joy comes love with love and happiness comes life
that wasnt a statue at the end. that was the body and the armor. the throne became his tomb
Hey All Ages of Geek, I just want to say that video of yours is super emotionally beautiful. I mean, when you cried, i cried and I loved what you said about being a hero. I’m total Overwatch fan myself since a few years ago though I never played the game. Great honor watching you.
FINALLY!
"Live with Honor, Die with Glory" is the best line that both characters say before they go into battle makes me honor the crusaders
The oceans are made of the tears of the world after watching this short.
Yesss thank you for reacting on this video! I waited so long, and I cried with you! This one always hits me right in the feels, I couldn’t help it. Thank you so much for reacting to this one!
YAAAAAAY I WAS WAITING FOR THIS FOR SOO LOOONG ❤️❤️
Everytime rein slides out of the wall and pulls his shield up, timed with the music... the feels man
Reinhardt will always be my favorite hero from overwatch :)
Loved your reaction!!
just saying but, it's not a shrine, it's the same armor and balderich is still in there
Tbh thats a Bit disgusting
@@marcopolo8978 A crusader's armor is his tomb.
Probably the best cinematic ever.
Could you give Star Wars the old republic trailers a look I think you’ll like them, I believe there is 4-5 of them
This is probably one of the best one since it shows Rein in a really believable way.
Junkertown: The Plan should really ease your heart and cheer you up a bit, i think :3 Take care girl >
Time for Junk Boy!
that really hit your feels right Cat, every Overwatch trailer has something to teach, and this is how one fight changes a man, that even if your almost dying you can still fight and win, will power is enough to change to world, but it all starts with one choice, you just need to choose
Ma heart.... ma soul ;_;
Those are true tears that I see those tears are from the heart. That is why I love watching your videos. Because they show that you are very much connected to this reaction. I always love to see people react to these videos with true emotions.
If you're looking for a great group of misfits, I'd like to direct you to the Reds and Blues, of Red vs Blue.
Yes please!
It's happening!
11:24, that moment when your in a 1v1 and it's overtime and you have shatter, FAT 1K SHATTER, you can almost hear xQc screaming "ROLLED AND SMOKED MY DOGGIES."
Finally!!!!!
I love the simplicity of honor ..witch we need more of in this world . .. and I love your fearlessness in showing your emotion
Now you know why Reinhardt is my favorite Char :D
I have seen this Video more than 10 Times, but your Reaction makes my Cry again. Thank you for so much Emotion! :)
Love how he sacrifice himself for everyone else like me but not in war but in general.
For example:) My family struggle with money and i'm not the oldest but i'm the one who always sacrifice a meal and my mom told me not to do that but I don't care just as long as everyone else is okay around me😊
P.S: I'm only 20 and I been doing that every since I was a kid👍
Donte Tucker proud of u mate❤️
Thanks😊
I sacrifice my *"Happiness"* for my family and forever i will atone for the mistakes i made with them.I was cursed as an infant and to this day feel responsible for the constant series of unfortunate events that befall them every day..Yes i also come from poverty but i don't let it hold me back because i STRIVE til the day i can make amends.I CHERISH them ALWAYS since their parents did not do the same.Only til i was born did they finally attain *"Happiness"*
I mean this is weird because you can watch this video on something , So you Are not poor.
You are very sweet and kind to say such things. I hope I never lose any of my friends from a gun fight but most of use are ready if we have to.
Bless you. I love this because it shows brothers in arms. It runs deep.
i cry tooo (when i see much time ago) the best reaction. T_T
The contrast-
i have been called i must ask
this is a great honour
rein: i have been called i must ask
ALWAYS
Ahh your making me cry with your crying, stop it plz
This is my personal favorite shorts cause you get to finally understand what he means when he says I'll be your shield
What a good actress, in every video.....😒👏👏👏👏👏
yeah. that seemed pretty fake
her crying made me mad
You guys really are heartless are you? Feeling nice and comfortable scolding other from behind a screen? What's wrong with legit emotion?
@@MovieNukeG that's everything but not legit. That's overacting or rather overreacting. If you think I am heartless good for you. There's a difference between legit emotion and being overly dramatic. It is pretty easy to tell.
@@MovieNukeG do you really know someone that will cry like that in front of Overwatch ???
9:42 for the sociopaths who want to know, this is when she started crying
I shared honor and glory with my dad when I visited my parents during the pandemic shutdown and ever since we watched it we now either part ways or hang up our phones saying it.
Dad: Live with honor
Me: Die with glory
And sometimes it's the other way around. I lost him 1year later RIP Dad, I love you man. Die with glory.
Balderich is the only person that can be sacrificed 5 mins after being introduced to the world and make 99% of the people watching him cry.
I've watched this short like 5-10 times and I think this is the only time my eyes ever got that pre-tear tingle. Crying is effing contagious lol
I like rewatching those shorts with you, because yours reactions are genuine and I love see yours first impressions about that. 😉
Can we all just take a minute to realize how beautiful and goofy cat is?
Like holy cow, you are a blessing to me.
Reinhardt's buddy: Dies
Kat: Dies, but louder
"Be their shield." Something I have wanted to say to EVERY RIENHARDT MAIN EVER!!!!
You aren’t my sub from the speech at the start of this video. Thank you for that boost. I needed that ♥️
I find this video ironically more emotional near the end because of that colored light in the background matching your emotional state.
You never truly grow up until your innocence dissipates from your soul through the loss of someone close to you.
*You can fix a broken shield, but you can’t fix a broken heart.*
my friend: why all beautiful humans must die?
me: if u are in a garden which flower do u choose?
my friend: the beautiful one...
"I have been called. I must answer...always"
We warned you this one would be hard. Keep up the great work!
*Slaps top of collection of overwatch cinematics*
You can fit so much EMOTION inside these bad boys.
it shows even the biggest most confident the toughest guy in the room has feelings and still has emotions
This is one of the most motional video i had ever see. You make me almost cry
Heroism at its finest. Sacrifice and bravery in the face of oblivion. Glad you enjoyed yourself, Kat.
This, along with the last bastion, are the two shorts that made people cry. A lot.
I have never seen someone react to something so passionately and get so immersed into the story. Wow. Nice job.
little over the top but decent acting yeah
You saying " why can't people just get along why there has to be so much hatred in the world like this" should be a part of this trailer. it made it even better
