  • High degrees of myopia are associated with earlier-onset floaters. This 41 year old man suffered a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in 2020 with massive, thick, optically sense vitreous cortex membranes ... like trying to look through wax paper. The video shows the results of 2 consecutive day treatments combined with almost 18 years of surgical specialty focus on treating eye floaters. All of the commentary is by Doctor Johnson while performing the laser procedure.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Practice located in Dallas Ft Worth area of Texas. The Floater Doctor, James H. Johnson M.D. is Medical Director of the only medical practice in the world specializing in, and exclusively treating eye floaters, the bothersome spots, shadows, and clouds that affect your vision. Although common, especially changes such as posterior vitreous detachment (PVDs) as we age, these vitreous eye floaters are rarely offered treatment by your local and well qualified eye care providers, even at top specialty institutions. Dr. Johnson uses a specialized FDA-approved YAG laser to vaporize and destroy the proteins in the vitreous that are responsible for your spots, shadows, and moving blurred areas in your vision. He has been doing so since 2007 making him one of, if not the most experienced in this very specialty niche area in ophthalmology, a pioneer in this field.

Wanted to share my experience as that patient is me.
This is maybe 1/10th of what Dr. Johnson did. He spent enough time to explain (before, during, and after) treatment. He also came in on a weekend to accommodate my travel schedule. that is a huge help that is almost unheard of.
One thing I always say about bad eyes (high myopia) and now that floater you see is - nobody really understands except the person itself. Brain will get used to a floater speech is a massive BS.
Long story short - vision (after 2 treatments) is lot better than what it was. Instead of through wax paper (constantly), it is now more like slightly dirty eyeglass. 80-90% improvement.

Thanks, Sayed. You are right, I had to edit out a lot of treatment otherwise RUclips would put it into the Insomnia Relief or ASMR algorithms. There were VERY extensive treatments for a very significant problem.

I am 31 years old. I am from Brazil. I had refractive surgery to correct my vision in December 2022. I no longer wear glasses. In February, two months after the surgery, these floaters appeared. I didn't even know they existed. The doctors told me there was nothing they could do. Today I am depressed because of this. Help Dr. Johnson, I can't take it anymore. Is it possible to do this YAG laser vitreolysis on me???

I have had a refractive lense replacement. Since then, I have complained about a fog in my left eye when light hits it. The Dr said, "But you have 20/20. One year ag, on 4th of Jul, I developed a floater along with webbing that wouldn't go away. Long story short, I have PVD now. They tell me everything you mentioned in your videos. My question is, can you work on people with multi focal lenses?

Great treatment!! Yag Vitreolysis has become a huge part of my practice. It’s amazing how other ophthalmologists just tell their patients to deal with this. I tell the patient if they had a floater like this they would be in my chair the next day.

I have this "large" mass that floats around and has lots of small dark floaters in it. The dark floaters don't bother me, but sometimes that mass interferes with my vision such that it's blurry. When both eyes get hit at the same time with the "blurry blob", it's a bit nerve wracking when I'm driving. The retinal specialist I saw said he only sees a few small floaters, but still willing to do a vitrectomy. I'm nervous about it and have discovered that bending over and picking up heavy objects seems to exasperate the blurriness. Do these "blobs" make sense to you? Do you think you could see them with your equipment?

The symptoms people experience have all kinds of descriptions. Clouds, blobs, membranes, strands, dots, etc. Just about anything is possible.

Hi Dr.Johnson, would you mind sharing your thoughts on artificial intelligence for YAG development on your next video? What will we be able to see and expect? More computed laser accuracy for moderate trained doctors? Anything we can hope for in the next 5-10 years? Thank you for your videos and interactions in the sub reddit forums, it lessen my anxiety and gave me something to hope for.
