- Welcome back for another adventure with us, Benny and Meeka. In this weeks episode, we’re in the south of Cebu based in a small town called Moalboal. We’ll be taking you along for some incredible waterfalls and some unexpected canyoneering that the locals convinced us to do. It’s here where we experienced the true hospitality of the Filipinos, and welcomed with open arms. In the heat of the afternoon sun we couldn’t resist revisiting the sardine run and exploring more of the coral reef. Our final venture will see us conquering the highest peak in all of Cebu to catch a belting sunset with a last minute surprise we didn’t expect.

We are Benny and Meeka, a travel couple from Australia who have been travelling on and off for 10 years and even lived in the UK from 2019 - 2021.
We are currently in SE Asia and are making our way back to the UK to reunite with our Mercedes Sprinter van we purchased before the world shut down and we left back to Aus.
About 4 months ago we decided to document our travels as we make our way across the globe, so join us for the ride.

The magnificent Island of Cebu is blessed with a thousand majestic waterfalls. Cebu, after all, is a multifaceted gem. It is city life, idyllic beaches, mist-laden highlands, and rich cultural heritage, all rolled into one and within “minutes” away. It combines the urban cosmopolitan vibe with the charm of a small, close-knit community, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and captivating. Cebu is a “gateway to a thousand journeys”, whether that journey is personal or professional in nature, or one of adventure, faith, revelry, food, shopping, or relaxation.

@@noideabuthere Yes it's my pleasure. CEBU is known as the one and only Queen City of the South in the Philippines.
Cebu is the country’s no.1 most visited tourist destination, and for good reason. It is unrivaled in offering the widest range of things to do and attractions. This wonderful island offers a unique travel experience as it is the only place in the Philippines where the bustling city and paradise meet. There isn't a shortage of explorations to do in Cebu.
For those who have more vacay days in Cebu, head three hours south of the island to chase the famous turquoise blue waterfalls of Kawasan, Tumalog, Dao, Binalayan, Mantayupan, Inambakan, and Aguinid, go canyoneering in Badian for the ultimate adrenaline rush, swim with the whale sharks in Oslob, experience the sardine run in Moalboal or go for a hike to Osmeña Peak, one of the highest points in Cebu.
Three hours north of the island will take you to the natural, pristine white sand beaches of Bantayan, Virgin, and Malapascua Islands or east to Camotes. For wildlife enthusiasts, Cebu Safari is a recommended day trip for the family as it offers a chance to get up close with exotic animals and even has an adventure park with zip lining and skybiking.
Where to start after arriving at our multi-awarded Mactan-Cebu International Airport? I always like exploring and getting to know a place first by going to scenic viewpoints. For something new and out of the ordinary, and one I always rave about, is the view when driving, walking, cycling or bicycling through and back from the country’s longest, tallest and the largest 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) bridge.
This leads from Cebu City’s South Road Properties to Mactan and its beaches but the inside tip is to do a round trip, pay the toll to head back to the city for one of the best vistas of Cebu. The juxtaposition of sea, city skyline, and mountains is stunning. Do this during the golden hour with the sun setting behind the mountains and its breathtaking scenery and vignette are like no other. And at night, CCLEX is also remarkable and stunning with its dazzling lights, visible from miles away.
Another way to experience this unique perspective of Cebu's geography is through a Sunset Cruise under the three bridges for that panoramic view of Cebu's multifaceted beauty. For a bird’s eye view, experience the breathtaking beauty of the highlands of Cebu City just few minute ride away from I.T. Park, alternatives to the popular TOPS lookout which is closed for transformation, are restaurants La Vie Parisienne in the SKY, Tops, Balay sa Busay, Chixboy, Charlie's Cup, and the famous Temple of Leah. And also, visit the very historical Magellan's Cross, the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Church, Forth San Pedro, and the famous Sugbo Mercado in I.T Park, the Nustar Resort, the Cebu Ocean Park, SM Seaside City mall, and Ayala Center Cebu in Cebu Business Park (CBP). And enjoy the grandest festival in the country, the Sinulog Festival, and one of the highlights of the festival is the Sinulog Grand Parade on the third Sunday of January. And don't leave Cebu without trying their famous "Lechon de Cebu or Litson" in local Cebuano language, also try the other famous local foods such as sutukil, linarang (bakasihan), kinilaw, seafood, siomai, Danggit, Chorizo de Cebu, puso, Dried mangoes, fresh mango, Otap, chicharon sa carcar, masi, pintos sa Bogo, rosquillos, tuslob buwa, pungko-pungko, etc..
There are a lot of things you can do in Cebu. I suggest rent a scooter, motorcycle or car, or just take the local bus and take it out beyond city limits and into the wild. Enjoy. See you in Cebu. ♥️

Yes, Thailand has better hotels/accommodations but it can't touch the Philippines when it comes to nature! Philippines is among the countries within the Pacific Ring of Fire and have volcanoes. Countries with volcanic activities have the most stunning nature (Indonesia, New Zealand, Mexico, Iceland, Philippines, etc.) By the way, the Philippines won again (and again) as the World's Leading Diving Destination (5 consecutive years) and the World's Leading Beach Destination (2 consecutive years) in the prestigious World Travel Awards 2023, the Oscars of the travel industry, held in Dubai last December 1.
