With all good that Sufisim bring, we should also not forget that they acted as spy for any Islam envader and provided important information to help them win and also prepare means to backstab the Indian king who is defending the border. Shahjahan, Jahangir and Aurengzeb had Sufi teachers. Recent movie Ajmer 92 tells the reality of Ajmer Dargah, which is the final resting place of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti who was one of the greatest sufi saint.
Historically Religion was always used by people in power.. but that doesn't change the fact the impact towards modernity by these bhakti, sufi movements.. see Punjab's Sikhism, or Bengal's Chaitanya Mahaprabhus thoughts... Or poetries of Sant Kabir, Ras Khan, Lalan Fakir... They laid foundation of today's multicultural multireligious multilingual society.. a more open one.. much more free from prejudices.. But now the masal is in our hand,.. we have to bring that movement forward.. to make society more open.. more inclusive towords womens, disabled, lgbtqs, dalits, adivasis and all others who don't have sufficient voice.. and we have to deal with issues like climate change, artificial intelligence etc too... So brother, choice is ours.. we can blame or do something.. And i believe thats what the idea ofIndia stands for.. slowly moving for a better world.. ❤
