Thank you so much for explaining how to adjust the speed variable; if the nut is up too far vs back too close. This is exactly what I was trying to understand. I'm hoping this will fix my issue. I'll update when I'm finished! Thanks again!
Thank you for posting. I was able to service my Singer 301's foot pedal. It was groaning to start, when it did sew it was close to top speed. Now I have full range of speed and no strain whatsoever.
I like your Husky screw driver set, I got one but it's too old now and the bits are broken. I was looking for a new set on line but I couldn't find it. Thank you for this video, I have 403A, 401A, and 500A machines and I can check it now. Thank you again.
I sort of was able to follow you, but too unclear for me to feel like I could safely repair my Featherweight foot controller wiring. Is there a hot and neutral side inside the foot controller. I need to replace the external wiring, which has 2 wires: one from outlet plug to machine adapter, the other from machine adapter to pedal controller. I’m not comfortable with trial and error with electricity. Thanks for your video and attempt to help. You obviously helped many people. I don’t get electricity and I fear overheating and fires, if wiring is wrong. Take care....
kimcase9 that's what I was fixing in this video. this one would only go full speed. the full speed contacts are shorting before the variable speed contacts are able to work.
well-- I watched your video 4 times-- took apart 4 times-- and ta-da-- fixed her-- thank you very much-- I was frustrated beyond imagination-- now-- second question-- can I just splice a better regulated foot to this one?---( I did get her going ... is sewing like a dream now.... thank you again)
kimcase9 I bought a different one that already had the right cord. this machine was my mother's. but I have one as well I'm using for auto upholstery work. they make compatible pedals still. old one still works, I just wanted a full foot sized pedal.
Very good video I just got a 401 a Singer sewing machine special it's missing some parts but I am looking for some if you have any ideas where I can also find some parts as well I need the top cover where it opens up where the spool threads and the needle thread tensioner and the plate over the bobbin

Wow! You're a life saver! My husband was able to get the pedal for my 500 all cleaned out and running great!
