You need to put a rubber stop on that cord where it is coming out of that foot pedal. Not just a knot in the cord. When it rubs around as you move that peddle a4ound the floor that cord will rubb the metal hole in that pedal until it cuts through it. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a video so irresistible
We have a foot pedal like that second one but there is a black grommet that holds the old wire into the foot pedal. I don’t know how to remove the grommet without breaking it in order to extract the old wire. All I need to do is make a splice to rewire because the old wire has worn right at the point where the grommet is.
Hey there. Those old grommets can be a real pain to get out. I leverage a screw driver and a pair of pliers to pull and wiggle it out. I very rarely reuse them. . I recommend that you get that grommet out and rewire all the way to the pedal. It is only another 3 inches of wire and is better than a splice. I tie a knot with the new wire inside the pedal case. Then use a rubber gromet for the hole. Good luck
Hi, I have a BU Mira Necchi sewing machine, it has the low and high speed fixture, but it runs too slow. Is there a way to speed up by fixing the pedal. I had another necchi with same capabilities and sews very fast which that’s whI need. Thanks
I believe that the light wiring runs through the machine. The motor is mounted on the outside? You can use any 18ga household wire. You will need a soldering iron for both the light and the motor. If you are located near Evant Texas, I rewire machines.
I have one of this metal pedal, and theres a funny smell after a while. I opened it and the wires are ok only the white big part inside is hot. Is it normal? Thanks
If it is a pedal with the ceramic big white part, then the carbon discs may need to be cleaned. This has to be done very carefully. As you do not want to break the discs. They are very fragile. Look up Andytube. He has a great video that goes through all the steps. I have done this a couple of times. With varying success. If you dont want to mess with it, just get another pedal. Let me know how it works out for you. Thanks!!
That was a great description. Thanks!
Great job!! That is exactly what I needed to see. Thank you so much!

It could be the foot controller. The easiest way to determine, is to switch out the foot pedal.
What is the part number for the new pedal.
There is not a specific part number. I just grabbed an old pedal from my inventory
Ok thanks
I have a brother atlas sewing machine and the foot pedal plug cord that goes inside machine is bad, falling apart. how to change it out?

Hi, is it possible to replace/rewire to a carbon disc foot pedal to use a more modern one? The carbon discs are becoming very thin. Thank you
