I'm surprised with how much I still love this band. Guess they're kind of a guilty pleasure. I literally call em boybandcore. I outgrew most bands similar to them, but not them. If you want heavier tracks from them, I suggest songs like Dreaming, Empathy, Painting Shadows and Same Star.
This band is VERY versitale. In Sweden, they we're called "Metal boysband". If you wanna hear how different they song can be, just check out they previous single, Heartbeat Failing. DbA is really massively underrated band. I'm sure upcoming album gonna be a fucking banger.
nah they are shet now.. since let world know was release.. there has been no improvement in their sound.. same drum beats.. same electronic pattern.. they suck live with just pontus struggling doing clean.. and when he can't do it.. scream vocalist ruin it by screaming that part where it must be a clean part there.. what dba should have done since zandro left is too employ a lead vocalist who can do clean and scream vocal at duties.. and then pontus helping him with additional clean vocal... in both album and live.. then we would have a good show instead of garbage live!
The sound of this track reminds me of the debut album days... super excited for the new album when it comes out. All of the singles have been awesome so far.
Literally just discovered these guys, got Playing With Fire recommended and I have been jamming to that album nonstop for like two weeks. Pretty cool that they are back, wish I had discovered them sooner.
my fav of this album 1.Our World Collide 2. I can't breathe 3. playing with fire 4. this is my life 5. Perfect the way you are 6. My heart is crushable(definitely my best)
Pretty interesting, how many bands are going back to heavy/Old stuff (BFMV, Devil Wears Prada, Memphis May fire, Dead by April). Btw i recommend you Forgetting the memories with their new songs "Mask Ov Lies" or "The solstice rebirth". I think they are highly underrated.
Thanks for reminding me that this band exist in my life.. im gonna add them again on my playlist .. i know theyve gone through different screamer .. i think the only one left original is the clean vocalist.
DBA should have employed a clean and scream vocalist as lead vocalist instead of just scream vocalist and then keep pontus as guitarist and clean vocalist too because watching them live sucks so much. that song was straight up garbage in my opinion as it's too similar to their previous work.. music production is stuck... that why.. pontus should have concentrated more on new techniques and electronic sound while the lead vocalist do the scream and clean... while pontus add additional clean to alleviate the burden of the lead vocal who does all the vocal
Jimmie used to do both screams and cleans on the first album, but then they brought Zandro to do most of the cleans. Jimmie messed up his voice and he started doing drugs and shit. The rest is history.
Didn't knew this band. Amazing to hear the keyboard/synth sounds happening with that sort of "glacial" atmosphere on it, reminds me of HIM, t.a.t.u, and bands from the 2000's with this identity on their mix and stuff. Really enjoyed the falsetto lines on the chorus as well. Nice content and review as always!
Ahaha, holy shit. I completely forgot this band existed, but I suddenly got hit with so much nostalgia for their first album when I read this title. I don't think I've ever been hit so suddenly by nostalgia that it just made me immediately laugh like that did.
there was a track they put out a few months ago called Heartbeat Failing that I thought was really fun, first time i'd heard of them from that track and i thought it was very solid.
Yeah, I used to listen to DBA in my 12-14 too. Since then I moved more to progressive metal and heavier stuff. Had to quickly relisten their albums after this video. And now from proggie guy perspective I'm noticing a lot of unusual moments in their songs such as weird time signatures, polyrhythmic, really messed up djenty chugging and some technical riffing. Not super crazy and not in every song, but still, their music is not as simple as it may seem. They definitely found their niche, and no one sounds like them
then check out Amaranthe too.. it's a bit similar to them.. but they have 3 vocalists.. and kinda very hardcore check the song... Archangel by amaranthe -(it's heavy) and then you soften it up by - Chrystalline by Amaranthe...
My man lookin' like Vaas from Far Cry (or Nacho from BCS). Not a bad track but it was lacking... something. Maybe a bunch of somethings. Even the bridge was just the chorus chord progression with a very slightly different rhythm. And it's not really a genre thing, other bands have been spicier. The unclean vocals were pretty great, and didn't exactly "fit", which actually is a positive imo. Stay cool dude. It's about to be ~100ish (37.7) here tmrw and I've gotta drive an hour to and from an appt in a car with no AC during peak traffic, so that's fun.
I'm glad that Sweden have so many great metal bands to represent us internationally today (Meshuggah, Imminence, Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath, In Flames, Opeth to name a few). Because I fucking despise this band, they're generic and bland and their sound hasn't evolved at all in the last 10 years. And yet, this is the only metal band ever mentioned in the mainstream media in Sweden, most likely cause they've done and appeared in every context that you could consider selling out. And I don't toss around that term.
Literally Pop Metal. Marketed to be catchy, play on radios, get positive responses from outside Metal genre. So many bands have done it and while good on them, it also sucks and has had me ditch Metal bands before. You say In Flames, but they too decided to go that route because even nowadays they are argued by fans to have changed their sound to more acceptable ears outside of Metal. Same happened to Soilwork too.
how about Amaranthe? go check about them i'm kinda turn off by dba too.. because yeah.. after the album let the world know was release.. they downgraded completely by not making any progress with their sound at all.. the guitarist still use the same bullshit technique since then in all the following song coming out... same drum beats, same electronic music, same bass line... it's so cheap..
@@thequatropus In Flames have absolutely become softer since their golden days, but I wouldn't compare them to DBA in any way. Looking at their discography as a whole I think there's a clear timeline of "maturity"/progression where you can follow the evolution of their sound in small portions from one album to the following which I think is pretty cool. And while I've only listened to the last three records once or twice each I still recognize some strong qualities on those records and I can see why people would enjoy them.

Their first album (self titled, 2009) is a small masterpiece with tracks like stronger, in my arms, losing you, erased and so on

more than yesterday was so brutal back then
I’m so happy to see you giving DBA some love. I love this band and heartbeat failing is like perfect.
Love this band. Gives me a break from all the heavy stuff. Good to have a mix of heavy bands and chill bands like this.
Anything off their first two album is fantastic. You should check out their song ‘Painting Shadows”, which is a bonus track off their second album.
Hi spitz :)

So glad you checked out this track!
These guys are the epitome of Melodic Metal.

Awesome man!! Love Dead By April! Glad to have them back!!!
nice to see Vaaz from Far Cry 3 in the backing vocals 🤘
You should definitely check out heartbeat failing next. Also coming off this new album 😁
Heard this while listening to spotify last night and realized it was them and didnt know they were still making music
