@CuriousHandmade , Helen Stewart, will be hosting a mystery shawl make along starting March 21, 2024. This mystery shawl is called #twentyfourbirdsmkal. There will be 6 clues with one clue per week, so this will continue for the rest of March and April 2024. Our mystery knitalong design this year is a tribute to William Morris and his daughter May, Edward Burne-Jones, and their fellow designers and artists, who left us such a legacy of beauty, and craftsmanship. These works of art are to be used to inspire our creativity and as a basis for many yarn color choices for each shawl made.

Hi Gina, wow your muppets shawl MAL looks amazing and the colours you have picked for the Helen Stewart MAL look great 👍🏻. Romi makes the most incredible shawls a way out of my time schedule at the moment but I will definitely go back to last years shawl at some point when I have the time and knowledge. You have some gorgeous kit colours I love seeing them.

Miss Piggy is looking good! What I love about you is that you don't hide your mistakes. You are so secure in your knitting skills as to be fine with a little tiny error, knowing that you could correct it if you wished without any trouble at all. The color choices are perfect for sweet Piggy! I was not sure of the coral color, but when you added it to the shawl I was amazed how it became one of my favorite colors, and that dark shade of purple slays the shawl!!! The upcoming, "The Twenty-Four Bird Shawl" color choices are another wow pick; the blue shade is absolutely yummy! I could see the joy and excitement in your face for the Romi Hill up coming mystery make-a-long. You made me smile with your excitement!!! Your Turnpike Creations mal turned out lovely, and you are correct it is way long, when you measure it, please let know how long it is!!! 😃 The Sweet Georgia yarns you showed are beautiful; the silk shimmered! Oh my hat! I love, love, love your yarn choice for the 24 Birds MKAL! Gorgeous! as is all the other yarns you've shown. Yarn-Eye candy galore and possible projects to knit up, endless! And as always, your shawls are breathtaking! I can only aspire to one day be just as good and confident in my knitting efforts. Having said that, as you know I've committed myself to join in the 24 Birds... little did I know it is going to be circular! Never done circular shawl. Cresent yes, but circular?! As soon as 1st clue dropped, I casted on. Nervously! Then Helen, very kindly, brought us the choice of the Cresent. Ripped back and done clue 1+2 of the Cresent. I am doing the Circular aswell, but on the side, in my own time with yarn I have left over from previous shawls. I've purchased my first ever Romi pattern eventually!! Hopefully I'll be able to do it. The Way to get over knitting nerves is just to get going!? 😄 I'm so sorry you still suffer from your eyes my sweet friend... you are constantly in my prayers ❤ ps: you've got mail 😉

Hey Gina, I love how the shawl is coming along. The colors with the pink is very pretty with the other colors that you showed. The yarn kits are gorgeous, the colors are so pretty. Romi Hill has some of the most gorgeous shawls that I have seen, and I would love to knit the Way one pattern. Her MKAL are so pretty, it make me a bit scared because of all the lace look. Gina Love the way your Muppet Shawl is coming along !! It's such a fun pattern, I thought about doing it but got caught up in fingerless mitts, cowls and chemo hats. Maybe this summer I take it on. Good morning! Loved the peach and pink mix. All of the yarns you showed today were beautiful. I knit along with you for the Miss May a couple of years ago. I will try to do the Romi Hill this year because I know how much you love it. We will see where I am in my market makes by then, knitting chickens today 😂. I have never carried chickens but they seem to be this years thing. So I wasn’t going to enter as I wasn’t positive I would be able to fit it in but love the Way choice. Isn’t that one of your choices for the Efflorescence originally? Loved it then too. Being only a 2 skein shawl makes it appealing as well. Glad you are able to knit right now, now get off the screen! Love seeing you but not at the expense of your health. Take care ❤

I don't have a single solitary thing on my needles right now but you are sure tempting me to pick them back up! The Muppet Shawl is turning out so well. Love it! The Romi design you are doing for Linda's MAL is such a lovely color. (Plus beads so I know you will enjoy that!) I have still never tried one of the Romi Hill designs but I love her work. They still intimidate me if I am honest...I guess the worst that can happen is to try and fail and try again. Aren't her project names interesting?! Miss Piggy looks amazing! The stitches are very interesting and look so beautiful together. The kit you’ve chosen for the twenty four birds shawl looks very pretty! Romi Hill shawls are so gorgeous. I need to try at least one of her patterns. I thought lace knitting would be way too hard but I just needed to try it once to realize it’s my favorite!

Hi Gina. Your Muppet Shawl is going to beautiful. Love the different colors. The Language of Flowers hank you showed is lovely. Wish I could participate in the MKALs but there is no way as I struggle to knit big projects because of my hands in particular my thumbs. I prefer crochet big things like shawls and blankets as its not so hard on my hands. Finished a shawl a month ago where I used Yarn Art Flowers. Pity I wont be able to do the Romi MKAL but love watching your progress on your various projects.

Hi Kat, I love the yarn cozies! And you can't go wrong with either. Let me try to help and you can email me and we can discuss further if you want. Helen's birds will be a very relaxing circular shawl, blending four colors, probably be a very big circular shawl, like the Inkling Shawl. Romi's will be an elegant show of lace, two colors, in a crescent shape. I think you should think about which one you would wear more. For me it's Romi as I find her designs more wearable. But if you love a wrap that you can wrap up in, that is definitely Helen's. I hope that helps and again email me and we can discuss more if you want. OH, your makes are so beautiful! I think the Miss Piggy Pearls on the Muppet Shawl looks like lotus flowers. I also like your color choices for the bird feet. Your Effloresce wrap looks perfect for a stroll on the beach. You've probably already been asked this, but would wearing sunglasses help protect your eyes from the bright lights? I suffer from migraines, so I have worn sunglasses inside before. My eyes are sensitive to bright light.

I would love to join you but I don't tend to join as I work so slow and getting behind tends to put my mind in a mode where I am like, "oh no I am way behind" even though down deep I know it doesn't matter, my brain just instinctively goes there when I see/watch where everyone else is at, it's crazy I know lol I fight with FOMO a lot! lol@@KnittingTurnPike
Romi has some beautiful patterns, however I am not sure I would be able to do all of the stitches. I have trouble working with dark colors also. The last time I did work with a dark color I cussed and fussed the whole way. The scarf is really pretty. Love the colors.

Hi Jeanne, thank you so much sweet friend!! I would love for you to make mkals with me. This is the time of year I allow myself to make them as my favorite designers always have them in April and May and then I have to get back to my list. I find that I learn so much with a new shape or some new stitch pattern I would have never been able to try, so I also view it as branching out of my comfort zone. I hope you are well and if you decide to make along with me, please let me know!!

I love all your choices for the Romi shawl. If i thought there was some chance i could manage it,i would attempt it. But i think i need more practice before i try something way more complex than what I've done so far. Please take care, don't overdo it! Give your eyes plenty of breaks. Hugs friend.
Hi Alisa, I understand. Romi will be much easier than the Muppet shawl as there will be less moving pieces, but keep your eyes on it and knit it after the fact when you have more confidence. I just buy with that in mind but honestly not eveyone knits what I am and so many things can be made with two colors, so many possibilities. I will come check out your videos!! Hi Cindy, there are some really amazing crochet designers. I would watch Judy's channel, Judy's Creations In Crochet as she really highlights those designers. I love Lily Go Designs. She does both knitting and crochet and some amazing crochet lace shawls, and even adds beads to them!! I know that Elena Fedotova has some beautiful crochet tops and so does Lily Chin (I have books from her that I want to make items). I hope that helps and I am not a great crocheter so I'm not the one to really ask. I hope to work on my crochet some this year too. Wishing you all the best.
