WOW this is an AMAZING video Daz :-D and wonderful choice of top 5 beginner cacti, and FANTASTIC that you have chosen individual plants from the different Genus's as some cacti are more difficult to grow than others in each of their Genus, and beautiful videography and photography too, and YES Echinopsis subdenudata is definitely our No1 Beginner cactus to start with, thanks so much for sharing both your's and Edith's Top 5 Beginner Cacti with us, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a super Sunday today XXXX

Thank you so much, Lyn 😊 Yeah it had to be Echinopsis subdenudata at number one, such an easy and forgiving cactus to grow and enjoys being on a sunny windowsill. When I do a seedling update I’ll show the Echinopsis subdenudata grown from seed that you sent, they’re getting biiiiiiig lol. Thank you so much again, Lyn. Have a wonderful Sunday from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜

Agree! When I saw your title, I thought Echinopsis subdenudata should be in that list. 😃👍🏼 Great video, Daz. Especially with your experience growing them mostly indoors gives a different perspective as well. Hopefully this will inspire new gardeners to try the hobby. 🌵☺️

Thank you so much, Ana 😊 Yeah it was important that we chose ones that are also easy to grow and do well indoors. I’ll probably do another one with 5 that are easy care but don’t necessarily do well indoors, and of course the more difficult ones. Thank you for watching and commenting as always, Ana. So 😍 lovely! I agree with your top list, I have them all, because I recently bought the Asterias (I had other astrophytums but this one I thought it was difficult to grow). I'm just collecting cacti for four years or so... but number one and two were easy to find everywhere! I have abundance and I made seeds last summer so, definitely the 🔝 easy to grow also outside given the right temperature. Love from Spain and have a great weekend 💞.

A great selection Daz! My Astrophytum you sent me is doing nicely!! I love the ferocactus latispinus I have a nice one about the size of the one you showed. Have had a little bad luck with these. Mainly from pests like scale. Unfortunately my matucana became a midnight snack for a mouse!! Looked like a mostly eaten apple! And yes , I would have to agree , Echinopsis subdenudata is great for any beginner!! When I lived in Tucson Arizona, we had them in a flower bed in front of our porch. And I saw snow on them at least twice. Great plants! And great video!!! Thanks for sharing Daz!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to the UK and Singapore, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🏵🌴🌺🪴🌹🌲🌷🌳💐😃👍

Thank you so much, Clyde. Ferocactus is actually one I’ve not had any beasties go on since having them, yet anyway touch wood! Yeah the subdenudata is a great beginner cactus, tolerant of all kinds of conditions. Still don’t think they could live outside here in the UK though haha. Thank you for watching and commenting as always my friend. Have a wonderful Sunday from Edith & myself to you and Deb 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜

Agree with this list. Great video, so informative, very helpful for the beginners.
But on my experience, because I try to keep everything out in the greenhouse, I don’t have much luck with Asterias, even with small Myriostigma, they always leave me. Ferocactus is easy but mealies top favourite amongst my collection. I only have one tiny matucana Polzii, still alive in the greenhouse. And yes Baldianum as well as mihanovichii are the ones very easy in everything especially the Baldianum, and who doesn’t have subdenudata in their collection. Loads all the time in any shop, so easy to get from wilko or any other shop.
Thank you for always giving us wonderful videos. Good night 🌵💚

Thank you so much, Kath 😊 Yeah in our climate I’d always recommend bringing asterias indoors for the winter. How is the v-type doing though? There’s quite a few more easy care ones so we might do another top 5 at some point. Thank you for watching and commenting as always. Well done, as always, Sweetheart! 😘 It was a bit hard choosing which cacti should be in this list but then again, based on all the elements in our growing conditions, these ticked all the requirements. Loved the footages and the macros and of course, watching the video with you. These plants will really inspire the newbies to try growing them. Maybe not all at the same time. Slowly but surely will be the advice. 🥰 These plants still inspire me especially when I stare at them and appreciate their beauty. ❤️🤗🥰😘💚

@@Cactimania Thanks! I think I am risking some of my newer plants in the unheated section (I have not kept them over winter yet as I bought them last May), but I have had success with other over winter in the summerhouse and then they flower their socks off as a result of the chill. Once set up, I will have a digital thermometer in their to track the temperature over time.
